“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….” “The excitement in their eyes and voices was so touching” The sign in front of the curtain clearly said only 1 item per person would be autographed I wondered what would happen with these folks behind the curtain. The big moment, Dale had arrived. HE was coming in thru a side door so as not to get mobbed. What I saw next blew me away. Dale walked by all of us and went right over to all those folks who had been brought back for the special meet and greet. He didn't just walk up and sign some memorabilia for them...no no no. He went up and introduced himself and talked to them all. Really talked to them, not just hi and bye. He listened to what they had to say, signed everything they had and took all the pictures they wanted. He was there for them! It became real clear to me that he did not forget where he came from. After he met with all those folks, he met with the rest of the folks there too. He talked and signed stuff and made everyone’s day. Me.. I got to capture much of it by camera. When I downloaded the pictures, those were the first I looked at. The smile on all those faces from one mans visit with them...AWESOME. Oh yea...he did sign the pedal car too

Last week at the Chicago World of Wheels show, I go to experience something really cool. The Chicago WOW show, like many others, has “STARS” from TV, Sports, Racing, Kids Show, etc come in and are part of the event. They do autograph sessions and meet with their fans. Depending on the “STAR” there can be quite a large crowd to do the meet and greet deal. The Chicago WOW Show had a number of “STARS” lined up at different times and on different days. On Saturday of the show, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was scheduled to be on stage from 12-2pm. My good friend Herb Wyeth asked me to come to the back of the stage area prior to the actual meet and greet time. Herb wanted me to shoot some pictures of Dale Jr signing a Pedal Car body that will be auctioned off later in the year at another event he is involved with. I said ABSOLUTELY I would help out! Before Dale got there, a number of “Special Needs” folks were brought back stage for a personal meet and greet with Jr. The excitement in their eyes and voices was so touching. Here they were waiting for a guy they are huge fans of and in some cases they idolize him. They were all holding 1 or 2 items for hi to sign for them.

When people hear “Chicago” they think about

FOR SALE: 1940 Packard coupe. This is the last year of the freestanding headlights. It looks a lot like a ’40 Ford coupe except for the grill and hood. The car is original, very solid, in good shape. All of the chrome has been re-chromed, some still in paper wrap. All new tinted glass, as well as the original glass, a roll of upholstery material, but the seats and headliner are in nice shape, (door panels need some work. The dash has the instruments removed to re-wood grain, (I have vinyl wrap burled wood that I was going to use to cover the dash), but all of the instruments are in good original shape, wires are tagged and everything comes with the car. I also have paperwork and history that dates back to the late ‘60s. Going with my plan, I figured I’d have it back on the road with a few weeks work. Reality is, however, that I have no time and must get the house in shape to sell before April.
