“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….” “
over the years we have attended various events. I know I have and I am sure you have to, gone to a show or cruise and struck up a conversation with the folks parked next to you. Before long you have new friends. Then when you go back to then next cruise or show, you look for that friendly face from last time you were there. Sure you may do a Facebook friend deal, but still nothing like in person face to face relationships. In some cases these become lifelong relationships and I have even seen folks who have become “best friends” too. As I have said in the past, these cars and trucks we paly with and enjoy so very much, they are just steel, plastic and rubber. The life of the vehicle you drive is YOU! You make it all happen. These cool rides don’t go anywhere with all of us behind the wheel. I know I am ready to see my car show and cruise-in friends… Spring has Sprung!
Let me start out this week by wishing everyone a Very Happy Easter Holiday. I hope you enjoy time with your family and if you are lucky enough, enjoy an extra day off work too! This weeks issue takes us into the Easter Holiday and the month of April. Like many, the Easter holiday is a time or renewal for me. The Spring season and the month of April are also a time of renewal. As more and more car shows start taking place each week across the USA, we as gearheads break out of our shops and garages, to go have some “hot rod” fun. The same can be said for the Cruise-In’s that really start kicking in in April also. Kind of like the caterpillar turning into the beautiful butterfly after being in a cocoon for a long winter sleep, we gearheads break out of our garages and shops this time of year, with beautiful cars and trucks in a rainbow of colors and chrome! Yes we all know and are envious of the gearheads in California, Arizona, Florida and other areas of the USA that enjoy great weather all year long for the most part. The other thing, and in my opinion the more important thing that gets renewed this time of year for us gearheads, is the “car show & cruise-in” friendships we have made

Scott’s Hotrods ‘n Customs is Relocating to Knoxville, Tennessee OXNARD, CA – Scott’s Hotrods ‘n Customs is relocating its entire operation to beautiful eastern Tennessee. The new, much larger, 20,000-sq/ft building sits on 3.6-acres just 2miles from Downtown Knoxville. The new facility is planned to be fully operational by the end of April.
This big move is something the team at Scott’s Hotrods heavily researched over the past 10 -years. Many factors lead to the final decision of Knoxville, TN. First, the extra square footage and big yard will allow the well-known company to expand and become of even greater value to its new and existing customers. Second, it places the shop in the heart of the car shows already attended by Scott’s Hotrods and logistically allows the team to attend even more shows throughout the season while cutting down on travel time and expenses. Third, Knoxville places Scott’s Hotrods in the heart of its growing customer base. Fourth, shipping chassis and suspension kits will be less expensive and quicker for the customer. Ultimately, it will allow the Scott’s Hotrods employees to have a greater quality of life in one of the most beautiful parts of this great country. Scott’s Hotrods ‘n Customs is the premier manufacturer of complete chassis, independent front suspension and rear suspension kits for any year/make/model vehicle from 1925-1987. No other company builds a more complete chassis that is also specific to each application and Built-To-Order to suit each customer’s wants and needs. Along with winning the AMBR Award twice with completely scratch built roadsters and Scott’s handcrafts complete custom vehicle builds that have and will receive other coveted awards. Scott’s Hotrods ‘n Customs opened its doors over 20-years ago in Ventura, California and moved to Oxnard, California in 2005. Most of Scott’s employees are making the move to Knoxville, Tennessee and are looking forward to growing as a company. Saleen’s Sportruck is Faster Than Your Pickup Saleen Automotive revealed the 2018 Saleen Sportruck in January at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. “This addition to the product lineup demonstrates the Saleen Company’s commitment to its brand and continued growth in the sport car and truck markets, returning Saleen back to its position of dominance,” said Amy Boylan, president of Saleen Automotive. The Sportruck will be offered as a 700-horsepower V-8 supercharged edition with a full-flow, Saleen-designed exhaust system, as well as other power options. Photography by Big Al Liebmann Story by Jimmy B
When you hear “ Connecticut” what do you think of? A lot of people think of “Hi-Tech Businesses”, High End Investment firms, foreign sports cars of all types and styles, the New England part of the USA….stuff like that. Thanks to VELOCITY Channel, a lot of folks would say “Chasing Classic Cars” with Wayne Carini too. Guess what...all of the above are correct. The one thing that people don’t think about is hot rods and custom cars. Our friend and contributor, “Big” Al Liebmann took a ride north from his home in New Jersey to check out the recently revived “Connecticut Custom Show”. We’re glad he did! Don Clady & the Connecticut Cruise News presented "Back By Popular Demand" Indoor Connecticut Custom Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show Season Finale'. The Show was Sponsored by Connecticut Cruise News, Haymond Law, Truck Toyz Unlimited and others . The show took place at the Naugatuck Entertianment Facility (Formerly Data Com Building) in Naugatuck. By both the turnout of spectators and all the cool vehicles that were part of the show, a great weekend of gearhead fun was had by everyone. Check out just some of the cool rides that were part of the show, and we’re going to bet you idea of Connecticut has changed! 18

FOR SALE: 1940 Packard coupe. This is the last year of the freestanding headlights. It looks a lot like a ’40 Ford coupe except for the grill and hood. The car is original, very solid, in good shape. All of the chrome has been re-chromed, some still in paper wrap. All new tinted glass, as well as the original glass, a roll of upholstery material, but the seats and headliner are in nice shape, (door panels need some work. The dash has the instruments removed to re-wood grain, (I have vinyl wrap burled wood that I was going to use to cover the dash), but all of the instruments are in good original shape, wires are tagged and everything comes with the car. I also have paperwork and history that dates back to the late ‘60s. Going with my plan, I figured I’d have it back on the road with a few weeks work. Reality is, however, that I have no time and must get the house in shape to sell before April. If you are interested or know someone that might enjoy this fine car please have them give me a call, (256) 665-3345. (3-15-18)
FOR SALE: 1986 Mazda, RX7. This is a one owner car in nice shape but has been parked inside for about 8 years. It is all original with the original rotary engine and 5 speed manual transmission. There is an easy conversion kit made right here in Lacy Springs, that lets you install a LS engine if anyone wants to make a street rod daily driver out of it. I’ve seen this done and it looks like factory equipment. (256) 665-3345. (3-15-18)
