“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”
Thank you Dad…
That I was probably about to screw up or do something I shouldn’t.
I lost my dad last week. He decided it was time to head upstairs and be with my mom. He missed her so much since she died 6 years ago.
Dad let me make choices, but made sure I knew there were consequences. One example I tell folks is when I was 15 (a long time ago in a galaxy far away) unbeknownst to me, he saw me smoking cigarettes. I had just started cause that’s what all the cool guys did...right? I came in the house at night and he told ne to sit down. He told me I had a choice, go on smoking and he didn't care (he did) or quit and he would sign the parental authorization so I could drive when I turned 16 in a couple of weeks. Let’s say I drove on my 16th birthday, passed the drivers test and the rest is history. Oh yea...never smoked again in my life to this day.
Dad almost made 93 years….just a month short. He had a damn good run. I hope that I and all of you can have that long a life. In the end his heart just got tired and while he spent a couple of days in the hospital, he went peacefully while at rest. We had a small private funeral for him per his wishes. He could be stubborn, he earned that at 92 plus. Over the last few years he told us that he didn't want a bunch of people looking at him laying in a box...HA! We did what he asked, we didn't want our butts kicked from above.
As many of you know who have lost 1 or both or your parents already know, it’s not easy if you care about them and love them.
I said thank you dad at the beginning of this column, because he taught me so much. He made me think about what I was going to do when I was getting ready to do something. He used to say, “You really want to do that?” That was a cue I learned after a
Thanks dad...just 2 words but they mean so much….

“the fun starts here”….
Class is in Session! Dodge-SRT already operates a one-day Bondurant High Performance Driving School for other Dodge-SRT owners, but they will now have the option to experience both the driving school and drag racing school for an extra $999. The oneday High Performance Driving School remains complimentary for all Dodge-SRT buyers. Demon can choose which school they want for free, or they can choose both for the same $999.
Dodge-SRT is rolling out complimentary drag racing school for Demon owners It's one thing to own a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, but something entirely different to fundamentally understand how to unlock its potential at the dragstrip. Dodge and SRT want each Demon owner to tap their cars' potential, so much so that the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles brands announced on Friday the DodgeSRT Bondurant Drag Racing School.
The brand will even invite non-Dodge owners to experience the course. For $1,999, non-owners can take to the dragstrip for the same instruction in a variety of Challengers, including the SRT Demon, SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Widebody, and SRT 392. No matter if they are a Demon, other SRT owner, or nonowner, each student gets 22 single-lane runs, plus instruction on a wet-box burnout, staging, a 60-foot pass, a half-pass, and a full-pass. Pre-registration for the drag racing school opens today, January 12, and the first classes will begin on March 9.
The one-day training course will expose Demon owners—free of charge—to classroom and on-track instruction. Participants will learn the rules and techniques of drag racing, including proper launch, staging, reaction time, signals, and pre- and post-run safety checks. It's one day to turn Demon drivers into the most feared racers at the dragstrip. All of the action will occur at Bondurant’s facility at the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, an official NHRA dragstrip, in Chandler, Arizona. 6
Another Dragstrip GONE!! Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. The Englishtown, New Jersey has officially closed its drag racing operations, as of Tuesday night, January 16, 2018. The historic track informed its employees on Tuesday night that the track will not have racing in 2018.
NHRA Nationals (57th annual) and the Auto Club NHRA Finals (53rd annual) were around longer. Raceway Park was one of the NHRA’s original seven national events. It is steeped in history, as many of the sports historic moments happened at the facility. It was also Vincent Napoliello, who also started the Jr. Dragster revolution by making a dragster for his son David. At the 2017 Summernationals, the NHRA honored the 25-year history of the Jr. Dragster program. While the track has had special moments, it will also be remembered as the place that former DHL Funny Car driver Scott Kalitta lost his life during NHRA Supernationals qualifying in 2008.
Old Bridge Township Raceway Park was founded by Vincent Napoliello and Louis Napoliello in 1965. After the father’s passing, Louis continued to oversee it, before it was eventually transferred over to the three Napp sons. David, Alex, and Michael Napp — they shortened their last name to Napp when they came to the United States — were owners of the track in recent years. Michael and Alex were the owners of the track last year. David had little to do with the track, as he dealt with some issues in his life.
Old Bridge Township Raceway Park will now be a storage area for Copart, an online vehicle auction, and services company, based in Dallas, Texas. They have three auctions throughout New Jersey right now. According to their website, they have auctions in Glassboro East, Somerville, and Trenton. We have been informed that the track has a long-term agreement for auto storage for cars for Copart.
The sports complex, which also had a Jr. Dragster track, motocross, and a drifting facility was mainly famous for the NHRA Summernationals. This past year, they held their 48th annual NHRA Summernationals — which was previously known as the NHRA SuperNationals. It was one of the longestrunning events on the NHRA calendar each year. They were tied with the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida with their 48th annual event in 2017. Only the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals (63rd annual in 2017), Circle K
