friends got my head screwed on right, and I heard my dad talking to me and telling me something he said a lot. He always told me as he got older, that I should go do the things I want to, as when I get older I may not be able to, or want to. My friends reminded me of my dad saying this too. THANK YOU!
How could a gearhead not have fun with 700 cool cars, trucks and motor bikes inside 9 buildings at the GNRS. Add in appx. 800 more cool rides on Saturday & Sunday outside the buildings at the Grand Daddy Drive-In. See it just gets better. Add in vendors, cool music, and other specialty displays and activities and yes… IT WAS A GREAT TIME!
Road Trips with friends are therapy for whatever may be bothering you. I will tell you to get out and go do the things you talk about, wish for, and dream about doing. As they say, tomorrow may never come.
Weather was perfect with temps under clear skies, with a slight breeze, in the 70’s and low 80’s. Forgot the sunblock but remembers the sun glasses!
Money is always an important thing for any road trip. Short of that, tell me why you are not going on the road trip you have talked about for years. No... that excuse you just gave, not going to buy that. Get up and go. Go have the fun you want to have...life’s too short not to.
Add in shop tours and other gearhead fun stops on Thursday before the show, and a GREAT TIME was had by all. Fact is I almost didn't go. Glad I didn't listen to myself.

2019 CAMARO GETS A 7 SPEED MANUAL TRANS?? The California Air Resources Board may have spoiled one of the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro's surprises. According to a recently filed CARB document, the refreshed 2019 Camaro will add the Chevrolet Corvette's 7-speed manual transmission. The document was discovered last Thursday, and it lists the 7-speed manual alongside the 8-speed automatic and the 6-speed manual transmission to go with the 6.2-liter V-8. The fact that both the 6-speed and 7-speed manual are listed is intriguing, but CARB documents are always subject to change. The addition of the 7-speed automatic could simply apply to only one Camaro variant, however, and the best candidate for that is the ZL1. When GM was asked for comment on the 2019 Camaro and the potential 7-speed manual, a spokesman's answer was, predictably that the company can't comment on any speculation or rumor about future product. One transmission the document does not include for the Camaro is the 10 speed automatic. General Motors and Ford co-developed the 10-speed gearbox, and Chevrolet first rolled it out in the 2017 Camaro ZL-1. The fact that no 10-speed is listed could mean no ZL1 will be offered, the 10-speed won't be offered for the ZL1, or the document is not yet complete. Ford has equipped more cars with the transmission thus far, as the Mustang GT gets it instead of just a high-end model like the ZL1. The F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator also use the transmission, and GM has begun to sprinkle the transmission into a few trucks and SUVs as well. The 10-speed auto fits rear-wheel-drive vehicles exclusively, while a new 9-speed automatic is finding its way into front-wheel-drive vehicles at GM. The refreshed 2019 Camaro should arrive with tweaked exterior styling and could reshuffle equipment to make way for a more affordable V-8 powered car. Camaro SS sales have slipped in favor of the more affordable Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang.

2018 HOLLEY HOT ROD REUNION NEWS Breaking news from the NHRA about this years HOLLEY Hot Rod Reunion: NEW at this years event will see the addition of NITRO Funny Cars as part of the event. Both Top Fuel and Funny Car will be competing for points at Beech Bend for points in the Heritage Racing Series.

This years AMBR competition at the 2018 GNRS event started with 15 Roadsters qualified to compete for the BIG TROPHY, and in the end, there was only one…America’s Most Beautiful Roadster.
The Martin Special Congratulations goes out to Dick Martin of Signal Hill CA. and the team from Hot Rods & Hobbies for winning this years AMBR competition. By no means was it easy to win, or for the judges to narrow it down to just one car, but that is what has to be done and it was done. After judges got down crawling under, over, inside and just about anywhere you can think, plus checking how the cars sit, run, and function (you have to pass that just to be a contender) the winner was chosen. The Martin Special is a 1931 Ford Roadster, that sits on a set of original ‘32 Ford rails that have a modified center section and is equipped with a torsion front suspension from the craftsmen at MOAL. The experts at horsepower at Ed Pink Engines put together a one off fuel injected Brodix engine for the Martin Special, which gets the power to the pavement thru a Richmond 5 speed trans. Dick Martin likes his hot rod with 3 pedals. Out
body, paint and final assembly on this AMBR winner. Add in interior work by Elegance Auto Interiors and chrome and bright work by Artistic Silver Plating and you can see why the judges chose this bitchin’ hot rod for the 2018 AMBR award. At the end of the GNRS weekend, the Martin Roadster screamed IndyCar suspension, and a few other things really loud, too. Perhaps a little louder. So the glory went to the Martin car. Dick Martin, an architect (look at the L.A. skyline and you’ll see numerous examples of his work), bought his first car, a Model A, when he was 15 years old. It cost him $25. You could say he’s had a thing for Model A’s since. Sunday night, his latest Model A Roadster won the most coveted award in hot rodding. ...well done! 18

I have drove it, worked on it, and showed it over the last 3 years. The car is a Trophy winner for sure. I am no longer able to enjoy driving it because of my rheumatoid arthritis.
