“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”

You only get so many weekends in life...

Greetings from DEEE-Troit Michigan!

company. A lot have tried over these many years but there is only 1 RIDLER Winner each year. The Autorama Extreme, or “the basement” as it has come to be known is HUGE FUN all weekend long. While the upstairs has a tension level due to the seriousness of the competition, “the basement” and all the participants there are laid back and having nothing but fun. Very few cars with barriers or stanchions, more like a Sunday car show, but inside. The Pinstripers jam, vendors, all those cool cars, trucks and motorcycles filling up Cobo Hall, manufacturer’s displays, special displays (Like this years SAVE THE SALT) make for 1 fun weekend. We’re going to cover all of this and more for you, but I have to ask...why aren’t you going to the show? You only get so many weekends in life...have some gearhead fun!

Yes we are in the Motor City for the 66th Annual Detroit Autorama. Hosted again this year by the MHRA, Michigan Hot Rod Association. It’s not our first trip to this show/event and we dare say it will not be our last either. As I have said before, in my humble opinion, this show/event is one of the top 2 shows in the USA. I know some will argue about this, but again it’s my opinion based on all the events I have attended over many many years. The Detroit Autorama is many events under one roof and part of one show. The BIGGEST part or at least the BEST KNOWN part of this show is the selection of the RIDLER Award winner. The RIDLER Award goes to the vehicle that is being shown for the first time anywhere...PERIOD. Just making the GREAT 8 as part of the RIDLER selection is a HUGE HONOR and puts a car owner/builder into some rare 5

“the fun starts here”….

Hennessey Exorcist Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 tops out at 217 MPH Hennessey Performance Engineering revealed the 1000horsepower Exorcist Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 last April, and since then the car's become an assailing answer to Dodge ‘s Challenger Demon, even if it's not an OEM package. We know 959 of its 1,000 horsepower actually makes its way to the rear wheels, but we still never learned just how fast it will go in a straight line. Now, we know. On Tuesday, Hennessey released a video of the Exorcist Camaro ZL1 and the tuning company showed the hopped-up pony car is good for a 217 mph top speed. For some comparison, the Challenger Demon will top out at 203 mph. The Demon's speed is also electronically limited. HPE's Exorcist Camaro will also do 0-60 mph in under three seconds and clock quarter-mile times under 10 seconds regularly, the company previously boasted. Ironic enough, Ford Performance School driver Brian Smith handled the top speed run for HPE at the Continental Uvalde Proving Grounds. The track features a 1.0-mile straightaway where the car could truly dig in and Smith could run flat out. Otherwise, the track is an oval with a slight corner at nearly all times, which made it difficult to mash the accelerator to the floor. But, Smith still squeezed every last ounce of speed the Exorcist he could muster, and in the process, he showed the car is faster than a handful of supercars. Notably, the car matches a McLaren P1 and nearly matches a Ferrari LaFerrari. The Italian hypercar ran up to 221 mph. 6

ididit announces 2018 “I Did It With ididit” Tour Tecumseh, Michigan-based ididit is on a mission. The manufacturer announced an ambitious new initiative to engage directly with the grassroots builders across the country who buy, install and endorse the steering columns and accessories crafted by the Michigan company. The inaugural “I Did It With ididit” Tour stops at grassroots races and car events across the country in search of not only the best vehicles, but the up-and-coming builders behind the scenes who are the backbone of the aftermarket industry. ididit team members will award three builders per event with a custom gift as recognition to their talent and tenacity. At the end of the tour, a final winner will be named and receive a grand prize package from ididit. Builders and fans are encouraged to follow the tour at @ididitsteering on Instagram and track the #ididitwithididit hashtag on social media for updates, photos and videos as ididit showcases the best grassroots builds in the country. If you’ll be at an “I Did It With ididit” Tour stop, make sure to tag ididit – fans at each event will receive an “I Did It With ididit Tour” takeaway. The tour is part of ididit’s dedication to showcasing grassroots builders who continue to keep building in the face of challenges. The company’s latest marketing efforts highlight the 2017 Tri-Five of the Year, built by Matt Martinez from his garage in Thornton, Colorado. Martinez built the black beauty from the ground up and crafted an award-winning vehicle with the help of friends, family and partners like ididit. “Every build has a story,” Marty Waterstraut of ididit said. “But the stories behind the builds happening in the home garages and small shops around the country are full of drive, determination and just plain bravado. Those stories are what the aftermarket industry is about. The constant drive to keep building. We can’t wait to see the impressive trucks on display at LST. It’s a great way to start the tour and meet with some of the most talented truck builders out there.” The “I Did It With ididit” Tour kicks off at The Lone Star Throwdown, Feb 23-25 in Conroe, Texas. To learn more about the “I Did It With ididit” Tour and see scheduled events, go to www.ididit.com. 7

We are partnering with American Red Cross and other organizations that are in the blood collecting and processing sectors to not only bring them blood donations, but to assist in the raising of financial contributions. We have pledged; 20% of gate ticket sales will be donated to the hosted organization at the conclusion of the car show day. Photography by Michael Corazzelli Story by Jimmy B

Up in the Bay area and Northern California, the car show season was coming to a close. The 2nd weekend in November 2017, Goodguys Rod and Custom Assoc. was helping close the season out in style with the 28th Annual Autumn Get Together. As they have since 1990, Goodguys has held this event at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. This Goodguys event saw more than 2,500 American made or powered hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and trucks of all years, makes and models parked in one place. The swap meet area is always popular at this event and you see hot rodders searching for those hardto-find parts and memorabilia to finish their projects or add to their collections. More than a few gearheads were looking for a winter project in the Cars 4 Sale Corral, as that perfect starting point. 22

23

24

This event even has a special indoor portion, with the latest products and trends displayed at more than 100 vendor exhibits. Add in the Pinstriper’s Brush Bash, Nitro Thunderfest Dragster Exhibition, and you can either watch or compete in the adrenaline-pumping Goodguys AutoCross competition! Even more was going on with the Kids Free Revell Model Car make and take going on, the Model & Pedal Car show and all that live entertainment all weekend long! If you weren’t able to be part of the 2017 Autumn Get-Together, make your plans now by heading over to the Goodguys website and getting the info on the 29th Annual Autumn Get Together in 2018.
