“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….” “Craftsmanship & Cruising” THEY’RE BACK!!!
January sees car shows returning to the schedule across the USA.
After a short and much deserved break for the Christmas and New Years holidays, car shows and cruise-in’s are back.
For the next 3 months, the indoor car show scene really cranks up with some fun shows to go see.
I think I can safely say, that we all enjoyed the short break but the majority of us are ready to get back to gearhead fun. I say this with no reservations based on a lot of comments on different social media sites we are at, and also based on conversations with local gearheads.
Some gearheads don’t really care for the indoor shows, as some of the cars are not drivers or real world vehicles in their opinion. I challenge you to go to one of the many indoor shows we’ll have listed and take another look. There has been a change over the past 5-10 years and if you haven’t “stepped inside” for a while, I believe you will be surprised.
If you are like us, where this thing called hot rodding is in your blood deep, then it’s also safe to say that you “have the disease for which there is no cure!”
With today’s emphasis by the “major builders” being craftsmanship and cruising going hand in hand. Take for example last years RIDLER winner. 4 weeks after winning the big one in Detroit...on the road in Texas at the GOODGUYS Show. Look at our GNRS/AMBR coverage 4-5 issues ago. The 2016 AMBR winner had 8K on the Odometer when it was shown in competition. Oh yea...when you go, you know you will, take kid with you. Get them started right...it’s our future.

Road Rumblings…. documented survivor vehicle and only has 14,800 original miles since new. Only built for one model year, this Superbird features the rare factory Y39 Special Order code designation and is one of the best examples of Plymouth’s remarkable street packages. This multiple show award-winning Superbird includes a complete owner history and original artifacts and documents.
Barrett-Jackson will feature a docket of rare Mopars during the 46th Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction, set for Jan. 14-22 at the WestWorld of Scottsdale in Arizona.
The available 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A is a great example of a factory T/A with its original 340ci Six Pack V8 engine with factory four-speed manual transmission. Painted in Go Mango orange with black graphics, this rust-free Challenger was restored in 2008 and is listed in the Challenger T/A Registry and comes with extensive receipts, information and a complete restoration photo album.
One of the most rare and collectible among those crossing the Scottsdale auction block is a 1970 Plymouth HEMI ’Cuda, which is one of only 14 built. Enhanced by its color combination of triple black, this ’Cuda has a rich racing pedigree, including national records for ET and mph in NHRA and IHRA, as well as the SS Eliminator title at the 1973 U.S. Nationals in Indy. It was owned by Hall of Famer Steve Bagwell and driven by Hall of Famer Terry Earwood.
Other significant Mopars crossing the block include a 1971 Plymouth ’Cuda equipped with a V-code 440ci six-barrel motor and four-speed manual transmission. Painted in Sassy Grass Green, this car is one of only 108 4-speed V-code ’Cudas built.
“Classic Mopars have become incredibly coveted vehicles over the last decade,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “With huge motors and race inspired aerodynamics, Chrysler blazed new trails in racing. Some of those pioneering Mopars will be among the most anticipated crossing the block and certainly be the crown jewel of any collection.”
Also crossing the block is a 1970 Plymouth ’Cuda AAR, which still carries its factory-original 340ci Six Pack engine and D32 TorqueFlite transmission. It underwent a frame-off, concours-level restoration and is fully documented by Galen Govier. Our Observation: For gearheads it’s either Like, Hate or just watch for fun, but Barrett-Jackson is a force in the Car World.
Also available, the 1970 Plymouth Superbird is a rare original that is a well6
We know we said that the last share we did here in the ROAD RUMBLINGS Section, from the SEMA 2016 Show was the last of it, but we still have some other cool pic’s to share with you. We don’t think you’ll mind checking out some more cool rides….

Story by Jimmy B / Photo’s By Ray Reed
If it’s October in Bakersfield CA, then it’s time for the California Hot Rod Reunion!
The 2016 edition of this gearhead favorite marked the Silver Anniversary 25th edition of the event. Doing anything 25 times in a row means you are doing it right. In the words of Steve Gibbs with NHRA (Creator of the Reunions), they were only going to do this one time!
18
The Reunion is nostalgia drag racing, part car show, part swap meet (great swap meet), part car corral and lots of vendors showing their latest and greatest parts and services.
One of the really great things about the CHRR, is the that as a spectator or participant, you can meet and talk to the guys that created what s drag racing today.
The event is held at the World Famous FAMOSA RACEWAY in Bakersfield CA. The track oozes nostalgia and makes a perfect venue for this event. Check out some of the cool race cars and hot rods that were at the event on the following pages, and make plans now to attend the 26th edition of this drag racing favorite in 2017. “Nostalgia Top Fuel to the staging Lanes! 19
