It’s our day to celebrate!
July 14, 2017
HOT ROD Magazine and SEMA all worked day in and day out to change the image. Moving street racing to the dragstrip. Car Clubs stopping and helping motorists who were broke down and giving them a business card telling them who helped them. SEMA getting involved with the government aspect of our hobby, to make politician understand the value of the aftermarket auto business and more importantly the people who started, owned and bought the parts too. Fast forward to 2017. We enjoy a much better reputation, in spite of a few idiots out there who create headlines we don’t need today either. Congress with much pushing from SEMA/SAN, passed legislation to have 1 day a year that recognizes all of us gearheads. It’s our day to celebrate our great hobby! There are a number of events going n to help do that.. If there isn't one by you, take your car out and DRIVE IT! That’s what NCCA Day is all about...having fun with cars!
It’s our day Gearheads! National Collector Car Appreciation Day is on Friday July 14th this year. If you are reading this or any car orientated publication whether in print version or on-line, this is your day! CELEBRATE!! While it may seem like a long time ago, hot rodders, gearheads and other enthusiasts were looked down upon by many many people and governmental organizations. There was good reason for it too. A very small percentage of hot rodders made a lot of headlines in the wrong way. Street racing was the main culprit as accidents created sensational headlines and pictures. Since those days a lot of hard work has been done by many many hot rodders and organizations to change the image of what hot rodders are really all about. Car clubs in the ‘50’s, the NHRA 5

Ford sponsoring 2017
feature the new 2018 model.
Woodward Dream Cruise
And in a new feature for the year, Ford will hold its Driving Skills for Life program to the Woodward cruise, where the company’s philanthropic Ford Fund arm will teach new drivers safety techniques through a virtual reality app.
Ford Motor Co. is swooping in to replace crosstown rival Chevrolet as the 2017 sponsor for the Woodward Dream Cruise. The announcement comes a little over a month before the Dream Cruise will take place in August, when the annual event is expected to bring around 40,000 flashy cars and 1.2 million people to Metro Detroit’s main street.
“We are elated to have Ford Motor Company’s commitment to the Woodward Dream Cruise, and we look forward to working together on this annual tradition that puts our region in the national and international spotlight,” said Tony Michaels, executive director, Woodward Dream Cruise, in a statement.
“Dream Cruise is all about the sheer joy and freedom of the automobile, and Ford has always celebrated car culture,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, U.S. marketing sales and service, in a news release. “From Fiesta to GT, we’re obsessed with making driving fun and we’re committed to celebrating that passion with enthusiasts of all ages in the birthplace of motoring.”
Earlier this year, General Motors Co.’s Chevrolet brand quietly dropped its presenting sponsorship of the annual event that draws an estimated 1 million or more people the third Saturday in August.
“At the Dream Cruise, Chevrolet will continue to have its performance division display and vehicles at Memorial Park, north of 13 Mile in Royal Oak. It will display historic and current vehicles at the “triangle” where Old Woodward and Woodward meet in Birmingham.
Sam Schembari, Ford spokesman, said the company is not disclosing a dollar amount for the sponsorship, but the oneyear deal comes with an option to extend the sponsorship to additional years. Meanwhile, Ford will also host Mustang Alley for the 19th year in a row during the Dream Cruise. The Dearborn-based automaker says this year’s pony car showcase will be the largest ever, and it will 7

Story & Photo’s by Jimmy B
There are a lot of people out there that believe the number 13 is unlucky. Hotels don’t have a 13th floor sometimes. People get weirded out if they get something with 13 on it. You may even be one who doesn't want anything to do with the number 13. For the folks that put on the KRIS KRINGLE KAR KLASSIC, 13 is a very good number!
In 2016 they produced their 13th annual show, and by all accounts, it was a success. No hocus pocus here, just lots of

car fun for both the participants and spectators both. The early part of November in the Middle Tennessee are, sees outdoor car shows dwindling off due to weather and such. It’s not nasty out, but just not good enough all the time for an outdoor event. The desire is still there to do car show stuff and that’s where the Kris Kringle Kar Klassic fills a gearheads need.
great car show to visit or be part of and the spouses and significant others can shop for unique Christmas gifts. The Kris Kringle Kar Klassic follow a format that has been in place since the beginning. All around the lower bowl are various entries from 1900 thru the current year auto productions with a special display in the center too. This leads to around 100 cool vehicles on display, Pretty tough to beat that in November in Middle Tennessee.
Let’s not forget that along with the car show, there is a Christmas Craft Show/ Bazaar taking place at the same time. Best of both worlds. Gearheads have a
