“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….” “have an amazingly hard job to do” While we all think this, (or you wouldn't be competing), the reality is, only the judging will determine from show to show, class by class who the best of the best really is.
With warmer Spring weather comes the wind down of the indoor car shows and the ISCA shows too. They take a break until later in the fall. For the competitors it is a busy hectic time, from the start of the show car season until around now. Traveling around earning points at various shows, competing against one another to see who the best of the best is.
Years or training, learning and judging help them hone their role, so that they know what to look for, where to look and most importantly how to score. The clipboard is full of notes of each car they look at so their decisions are data driven, based on the criteria set up to judge by.
Somebody who gets overlooked a lot, but is always there, are the show judges.
Thank you for what you do. We are not always the nicest person if we don’t win the BIG AWARD, but that comes form our desire to succeed. Thanks for making us better at what we do.
They have an amazingly hard job to do, and they do it well. All of us, and I will raise my hand first, as I have shown my cars over the years in these type of shows, thinks we have THE BEST car in the show...PERIOD

Road Rumblings‌.
Write or call your U. S. Representative in Congress today. This bill is important to all of us. Your voice does count. The U.S. House of Representatives has introduced a bill that would prohibit the sale of E15 gasoline, capping the amount of ethanol that can be blended into conventional gasoline at 10 percent, according to SEMA Action Network.
Spring is almost here, and in some states, it has already arrived. For many of us, this means it's finally time to pull out our specialty/collector car, and give it a once over before we make our way to the first car event in our area.
The bill (HR 1315) also eliminates the Renewable Fuel Standard’s (RFS) mandate that requires 15-billion gallons of corn-based ethanol be blended into the U.S. fuel supply each year, according to SEMA Action Network. HR 1315 would eliminate mandates imposed under the RFS, such as requiring refiners to blend 36-billion gallons of biofuels by 2022.
What should you be concerned with since the last time you had the car out? Let's take a look at some items that will help make for a good driving season in 2017. We'll skip the fancy "apply a coat of wax to your car" fluff, and get to the meat and potatoes of mechanical issues: Battery - Check the terminals; clean corrosion; tighten as needed. If it hasn't been on a trickle charger or disconnected, make yourself a note to get one for future use. Call it an early birthday present for your car(s)! Better roll your gem back in the garage and get her up in the air. 6
Why? Because your grease gun is calling you. It's beckoning you to have some interaction with you and your car! Grease those tie rod ends, U -joints, and suspension points. You know you have been putting it off, so let's cross that off the list today.
sion to show off that dirty filter for all to see? Oh, and your engine will thank you for it.
Fuel - Ethanol ... need I say more? Check for leaks, stains, smells. Rubber lines put up a good fight, but eventually they can lose the battle and begin to 'weep' or split. Engine fires are not fun. Trust me. While you're at it, get a fire extinguisher and keep it close-by during first start up. Heck, you might even want to push the car outside as it would save the garage and home if the worst ends up happening!
Finally, after you've completed your pre-flight checklist, reach into your glove box (or where ever) and ensure you have your most recent vehicle registration and insurance I.D. card. We don't want you getting pulled over by Johnny Law and NOT be in compliance.
Now that we've got spark, fuel, and air, we're ready for contact, right?! Wrong. When was the last time you checked the air in the tires? Better yet, what's the date code on those shoes? Tires on collector cars tend to "time out" before they wear out. Have you ever seen one delaminate and weed-whack the heck out of the fender on a full fender car at 75 mph? While you're stooped over checking tire pressure, grab your torque wrench? Yep, those lug nuts could use a quick check, too!
Now that you have checked your ride out‌.drive the wheels off it!
Air - Inspect the air cleaner, and replace it if you have one. Who wants to pop the hood on their prized posses 7

Story & Photo’s by Jimmy B
If you missed it, you missed a great show and car show competition that as not been seen before...ever...EVER!
Add in 2 other Great Eight finalists from this years Detroit Autorama, a contender in the ISCA Grand Finale and one awesome ‘63 Corvette and you have the CHICAGO WORLD OF WHEELS Select Six Finalists for 2017.
This years LEGEND Cup competition was one for the ages. Never before have the current America’s Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) from the Grand National Roadster Show and the current RIDLER Award Winner from the Detroit Autorama, gone head to head for a prestigious award such as the LEGEND CUP is. They can’t compete against each other at the GNRS or Detroit Autorama based on the rules for the AMBR and RIDLER Competition, but they can in Chicago!
18
Some of you are saying about now, what is the LEGEND CUP?
In order to qualify for the LEGEND CUP, the vehicle must be shown for the first
The LEGEND CUP award is handed out only at the CHICAGO WORLD OF WHEELS show. It was created by show producer Harry Willet and the Advisory Board team of the Chicago WOW show 11 years ago, to add excitement to the Chicago WOW show. Since it’s inception it has done just that. Some of the winners include Bobby Alloway, Steve Tracy, Troy Trepanier.
time ever at the Chicago World of Wheels show. The winner comes from the TOP 20 picks and then the SELECT SIX picks at the show. The winner takes home with them, a smaller version of the LEGEND CUP and a check for $5000.00, not to mention serious bragging rights for the next year.

Having been at the show, having seen the AMBR deal at this years GNRS in person and also the RIDLER deal in person at this years Detroit Autorama, in no way do we envy the Legend Cup judging team. In our opinion, they had by far, THE HARDEST JUDGING deal of any show car judges...PERIOD. At the awards ceremony on Sunday Afternoon, anticipation was high on who would win this years Legend Cup. All of us “NON Judges” had our thoughts and feelings of who should take home the big award of the weekend. Opinions and idea’s varied across all six of the contenders based on attributes that each had. At the end of the awards ceremony, The Mulholland Speedster owned by Bruce Wanta and built by Troy Ladd and his team at HOLLYWOOD HOT RODS in Burbank California won the 2017 LEGEND CUP. While the Mulholland Speedster won the LEGEND CUP, all of the SELECT Six are some awesome vehicles. Just making it into the SELECT SIX is a great honor in our opinion, and one to be very proud of. We’ll let the cars speak for themselves here for you to check out and enjoy. Make your plans now to attend the Chicago World of Wheels Show in 2018 and see who the Best of the Best is in 2018 22
