“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….” “spring forward into daylight savings time”
Besides warmer temps (always nice of course) the Cruise-In’s start ramping up this time of year.
What a winter show season we have had! GREAT TIMES across parts of the USA. Our Winter Road Tour took us to 5 great indoor shows this year. We had a blast being at them and covering them. Seeing friends from across the country, is always fun for us too.
Yea Yea Yea...those of you who live in warmer parts of the USA enjoy year round cruising. Those of us that experience some form of winter, see a curtailment of car fun until the thaw out happens.
The indoor shows are starting to wind down as spring is getting nearer, the outdoor shows are cranking up in the USA.
I don’t know about all of you, but I am ready to break the hot rod out of the slumber mode in the shop and start wearing out the tires on it.
This coming Saturday Night Early Sunday Morning, we will SPRING FORWARD into daylight savings time. MORE SUNSHINE and daylight hours!! Don’t forget to adjust your clocks or you will be real late on Sunday for something...HA
Some may be ready for the flowers to pop out of the ground...I am ready to see all those cool cars pop out of the garages.

Road Rumblings….
NSRA is adding something new for the 2017 event season, a “Pros’ Pick of the Year” award. Currently there are five “Pros’ Pick” awardwinning vehicles selected at each of the NSRA Divisional events and 12 winning vehicles are selected at the Street Rod Nationals. Starting with the 2016 NSRA Street Rod Nationals, the 2016 Street Rod Nationals North and the 2016 Northeast Street Rod Nationals and continuing through the 2017 NSRA Divisional Events, up to and including the Rocky Mountain Street Rod Nationals, there will be one winning vehicle selected from each of these 10 events and from those 10 selected vehicles there will be one picked to be the “2017 Pros’ Pick of the Year.”
The award will be presented at the 2017 Street Rod Nationals StreetScene Industry Cocktail Party held on Friday, August 4, in Louisville, Kentucky. The winning vehicle from each event will receive a letter stating they have been selected as one of the 10 regional winners and the winning vehicle will be notified as being selected as the “2017 Pros’ Pick of the Year.” We know the amount of time, effort and money that goes into building one of these top-notch vehicles and we would like to recognize one of them with some additional recognition. After all, the “Pros’ Pick of the Year” winner will be one out of 57 outstanding vehicles from all across the country and we think that’s pretty cool.

Story & Photo’s by Jimmy B
One of the coolest parts of the Grand National Roadster show each year in our opinion, next to the AMBR competition, is the Suede & CHROME building.
The whole atmosphere inside the building is nothing but laid back and fun. When you walk in you are hit with rock-a billy music, that justs gets you in the right mood.
There are no pretenses with these car owners or cars...just real people with real hot rods and customs. 20
Vendors, artists and more fill the walls of the building, with the exception of the stage for the bands.
The other thing that’s happens, especially on Saturday, with the Grand Daddy Drive-In taking place, is the area all around the Suede & Chrome building is taken over by hundreds of cool hot rods and customs, that couldn't make it inside the building, due to space limitations. It is a true party atmosphere, a family atmosphere with cookouts taking place, great music playing all over, and just plain gearhead fun going on. Vintage hot rods and customs, unrestored time capsules, new hot rods and customs and more are here all weekend long. Take a look at just some of what we saw, here on these few pages and you’ll see why this is one of the busiest areas all weekend at the Grand National Roadster Show. 21
