“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”
The Memorial Day Holiday weekend is upon us gearheads. The “unofficial” start of summer in many folks eyes, kicks in this weekend.
...a very high price! A Soldier, Sailor, Marine, Air Force member and Coast Guard veteran over time has given their life so we can enjoy everything we have and do this weekend and everyday.
What will you be doing this weekend in your part of the USA?
Memorial Day, and for may of us with gray hair, Remembrance Day, is about HONORING those military Veterans, who over the course of our countries life so far, have given their life to protect our freedoms, our way of life that we enjoy each day. They wrote a blank check to each of us and our country with their life on the line...and gave their life.
Family gatherings? Cookouts? Long weekend trip to a beach, the mountains or your favorite get away spot? I know a lot of you will be jumping in your cool cruiser, (whether it’s a hot rod, muscle car, cool truck or some classic car) and just driving around having fun or going to a weekend car show or multi-day event.
During all the fun you are having this long weekend, at least on Monday, please take a moment and stop what you are doing and take your own moment of silence and say a prayer for our HEROS!
Fun and good times will be had by many, in many different ways and forms all weekend long. In the USA we are blessed and very lucky too.
Jimmy B.
All of what I have already mentioned came and comes at a price
“the fun starts here”….

Road Rumblings‌. News and Gearhead Info you can use
If you have not heard by now, GOODGUYS has decided to expand the eligibility year for entries into their events. They asked for input on this from Prominent Car Builders, Manufacturers, Goodguys Members and event participants too. They also asked the 145k FACEBOOK followers what they thought. If you get the GOODGUYS Gazette, Editor John Drummond wrote about it in the November 2017 Issue too. Based on all the research Goodguys did, 70% of the input and feedback said GO FOR IT! The change will take place beginning with their first event in 2018 and Goodguys will welcome entries thru 1987 Vintage. This will open up the door to younger hot rodders to be part of the Goodguys events.

Is this the 2018? The 2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has been spotted in a listing on the official website of General Motors. The regular product options (RPO) search file includes the new model's name and it apparently contains a few description. According to the listing on the RPO search, the 2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is listed as LT5. The description reveals that the new model sports a 6.2-liter 8-cylinder gas engine. The search file, which was first reported by Weapon X Motorsports, also mentions that the new ZR1 will come with aluminum block and GM's SIDI direct injection. Speculations are now circulating that the new coupe can deliver 500kW with its supercharged V8 engine. The theory also mentions that the engine will be mated to an automatic transmission. With these speculations, the new coupe appears to come out as a rival of Porsche 911 Turbo, McLaren Sports Series and Ferrari 488, PerformanceDrive noted. Meanwhile, the Convertible ZR1 has been spotted while undergoing the test at the Milford Proving Grounds of General Motors. Spy photos reveal the automaker has used a fabric for the roof top of the new ZR1. With the removal of the hard roof top, it is expected that the performance of the new ZR1 will be affected. However, the new model is also expected to run with the improved braking system and performance tires that can most likely compensate for the changes in the roof top. Furthermore, the body of the new model appears similar with the existing Coupe. It also runs with similar wheels and body panels. However, spy photos reveal some refreshes on the design too. The mule spotted sports a smaller rear wing. The upcoming 2018 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is expected to be introduced in the upcoming 2017 Continental Tire Road Race Showcase IMSA event. It is also believed that the sibling convertible will be launched in the same event as well.

Story: Betsy Bennett—GOODGUYS Pics—GOODGUYS—Fuel Curve & Jimmy B
Candy Colored, Hemi Powered Model A Tudor Named Hot Rod of the Year! Forty-two hot rods. One winner. That is how it went down last weekend at the Goodguys 11th Nashville Nationals in Music City USA. Heard round the country, the rallying cry for real, genuine, hellraisin’ hot rods went out in January when the award was officially announced as part of the Goodguys 2017 Top 12 Awards program. When the chips were pushed to the middle of the table Ralph and Linda Miller’s candy colored, supercharged hemi powered Model A Tudor sedan cashed in by winning the Goodguys 2017 Tank’s Hot Rod of the Year award. It marked the second time in the last five years an “Angry A” from the team of Bobby Hilton and Tony Lombardi won this award. They also brought it home in 2014. The Miller’s hemi hauler is a 60s throwback. The pearl blue teal fades and layered panels scream Larry Watson. The polished baby Moon’s harken back to Dean Moon’s 60s identity. The blown hemi by Ross Racing Engines wakes the dead. Together with its propensity for high speed highway jousts, thunderous burnouts and rambunctious attitude – it embodies everything a hot rod is. If you have been following the Hilton and Lombardi builds, every car they produce has bad-to-the-bone hot rod characteristics. Playing to that credo, the Wilson’s Tudor is chopped, has a perfect rake, dropped axle, deuce rails, plentiful 24
polish, driveshaft headers, skinny wheels and bias play tires, and a leather trimmed interior along with serious attitude. The fit and finish is on par with rodding’s elite but make no mistake – this is no car show queen. With just 30 miles on the clock, it was driven 3,000-miles round trip to the Lone Star Roundup in April. It performed flawlessly on a Friday reliability run as part of a prerequisite to be eligible for Hot Rod of the Year. A 1/8th mile dragstrip fun run is also mandatory. Driven by Hilton at the track, the Miller’s sedan was anything but tame. It smoked the tires and roared down track, the blown hemi at full song. About that hemi. Tony Lombardi at Ross Racing Engines assembled it with his usual bullet-proof bottom end, added a 4-71 huffer, dual 94-series carbs and a retro Vertex mag. It doesn’t skip a beat. Runner up finalists for Goodguys 2017 Tank’s Hot Rod of the Year include Ted Hubbard’s 1930 Model A, Gary Corkell’s ’32 Ford roadster, Bill Herb’s ’33 Ford coupe and Harold Chapman’s ’32 Ford 5window. This time at the Finish Line, we are taking a look at car club plaques. In hot rod history, car clubs were the back bone of the early days of hot rodding and played a huge part of hot rodding. Still are today. Many clubs have club plaques that are displayed proudly on their cars. Here are some from over the years. Have you got one too? Send us a pic of your car club plaque. - Jimmy B
