“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”

“cool rides set up all over the show floor” Welcome to November 2017 Gearheads! Let that one soak in for a minute or 2. Halloween is over so take off your costume, eat the left over candy (you know you bought extra!) and get the rake out to take care of the leaves in your yard. Mid-Fall is upon us in the Northern Hemisphere.

Deeper in this issue, we have a small sample of the cool cars that are both inside and outside of the Las Vegas Convention Center. While SEMA is about the parts, and services available to businesses, and vendors making contacts and sales to buyers for the upcoming year, you have to be able to show the buyers how your product or service works in real time.

In some parts of the USA, gearheads are tucking their “hot rods” in for the winter sleep or starting that next project to keep busy in the shop. The other thing that takes place this time of year, and is going on as I write this, is the annual SEMA Show.

That is done with all those cool rides set up all over the show floor, outside the building and even on the drift track too. It is easy to describe or show a picture, but seeing something in real life and real time makes it so much better.

SEMA is a lot of things all going on at one time. For those that have been, you know what I mean. For those of you who may go in the future, you will understand after having been there for 2-3 days.

The cars, trucks and motorcycles are the stars of the show. Built to exacting tolerances, gleaming under the lights, wowing the crowd and giving all of us something to thin and dream about too.

One thing that SEMA is for sure, a CORNUCOPIA OF COOL CARS & TRUCKS!!

SEMA...a gearheads Disneyland...

Jimmy B.

Street Outlaws To Film $40,000-To-Win Episode At Beech Bend Raceway! After the Street Outlaws brought their show to Memphis International Raceway this past October, for a taping of their hit TV show, and they’re going to do it again in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Beech Bend Raceway will host a taping of Discovery Channel’s show on November 1011 and racers will have the chance to race for big money….$40K!! and the opportunity to take on the best from OKC and New Orleans.

The action on Saturday will begin with the Small Tire Event that’s open to any racer and has a $5,000 guaranteed purse. The Big Tire Invitational on Saturday will feature the 32 fastest Big Tire cars on the property, and pit them against each other until only one remains. If all that wasn’t enough, the kids can get in on the action with a bicycle and threewheeler race that will be flagged by the Street Outlaws cast.

This event looks to be just as exciting as the previous two, with plenty of opportunities for fans to meet their favorite drivers. All the action starts on Friday, November 10 with a Race Your Way into the Street Outlaws Big Tire Invitational. This showdown will give four racers the chance to take on the Street Outlaws stars for the $40,000 purse. There will also be some grudge racing on Friday between the Street Outlaws cast that could provide some dream matchups that fans will love to see.

For more info, race rules and advance tickets go to www.beechbend.com

Story & Photo’s by Al Liebmann

I recently had the opportunity to spend some more time at Ida Automotive. My last visit to the shop was in the summer of 2012. I got invited to a very special unveiling at the shop. The team was ready to unveil the latest TUCKER that they built for SEMA 2017. It’s not everyday that you get invited to a new car unveiling, so I headed to Morganville NJ for some cool car fun.

After a look around outside the shop at all the cool stuff there, I headed inside the shop to see the latest creation… the handmade Twin Turbo midengine new Tucker 48 of Jack Kiely. Being that I was early to the event, I got to witness some last minute thrashing on the Tucker. He IDA Team was working to make sure the Tucker was looking and running great for it’s big debut a little later. The team delivered and the Tucker does not disappoint at all! HOME RUN!

24

Check out this cool car in the shots in this article. When you do, remember this...there ARE NO 1-800-MAIL ORDER parts on this vehicle. Everything is made and built under the Ida Automotive shop roof...EVERYTHING! They gave the Tucker 2 different looks by running different wheels on each side.

If you are SEMA, head over to the Axaltare finish Booth as the Tucker is on display there for the whole SEMA week. Ida Automotive Inc. and RobIdaConcepts.com may be one of New Jersey's best kept secrets. Father and Son Team, Bob and Rob Ida have been servicing a select and small group of clients for many years. With the eclectic tastes of these clients, you never know what you will see in their shop. From Ferraris to Hot Rods to Corporate projects like Solar Powered Ice Cream trucks. While their automotive roots come from Willys Hot Rods from Bob Sr.'s Gasser days, and Tuckers from Rob's Grandfather being one of the original Tucker Dealers back in the late forties they stay true to their craft. They have created cars and parts

from scratch in an effort to feed the need for interesting cars. Both have their own areas of expertise in the shop. Bob is the machinist with his CNC equipment, making things like custom one-off wheels, brakes and 25

other interesting bits of hardware, as well as being the in-house Dyno-Tuner for their own custom made Turbo and Fuel Injection systems. Rob is better known for his Design work and 3D metal Fabrication abilities, as well as body and paint, chassis building, body fabrication and modifications, Upholstery and full car construction. Check them out on Facebook or at their website www.idaautomotive.com
