Sept and October are loaded with car fun Welcome to Fall Y’all!

Yep the best season of the year, at least in my opinion, officially starts on Friday Sept 22nd, above the equator.
for something new or building a new one over winter. If you are looking to sell yours, don’t forget about our FREE ads in the SWAP & SELL section for private individuals. Ads run for 2 months with pictures too. You can’t beat free. Email your pic’s and ad info to us at
Fall signals a lot of things. Leaves changing color in most states, leaves falling too! Depending on where you live in the USA, car type events start to wind down also. We see it happen starting with the northern states ( it already snowed in Montana!), thru the middle tier of states and the top portion of the southern states too. States along the gulf coast and Florida and California stay busy with events, but even there, a general slowing down of events takes place too.
gearheadgazzette@gmail.com . If you are planning a new project or working to complete a project you have been working on for a while, send us some pictures and info at the above email address and when we have some space open, we will ad your project to an upcoming issue. We’re always interested in seeing what’s coming together in gearhead garages.
As we have said before, primarily in the lower 1/2 of the lower 48, Sept and October are loaded with car fun. The weather is near perfect most weekends so why not have an event for gearheads to come to.
Fall is also a great time to take pictures of your ride or buddies ride. We say this as our 2nd Annual Cover Contest will be coming up soon. Say Cheese!
Fall also signals some folks selling their rides, as they are done with

History of Transportation in Kentucky Exhibit Opens at Corvette Museum Special Display Traces State’s 225 Years on the Move The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green has opened a new exhibit that traces the history of transportation in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Kentucky celebrated its 225th anniversary on June 1, and the exhibit commemorates the milestone while taking visitors on a trip through time.
a 1943 Ford GPW (Jeep) used during World War II, and the 1993 One-Millionth U.S. built Toyota Camry, which rolled off the line in Georgetown, Kentucky. Artifacts include 1800s era mile markers, a horse-drawn sleigh, early 19th century riding breeches and a tractor.
“It’s an exhibit that’s designed chronologically,” said Derek Moore, Museum Curator. “It’s a flow of transportation history in Kentucky starting in the late 1700s/early 1800s, moving up to the 2018 Corvette.”
“Agriculture has played an important role for Kentucky since the earliest beginnings,” said Ryan Quarles, Commissioner of Agriculture for Kentucky and owner of the 1935 AllisChalmers WC tractor on display. “The tractor represents the role of the family farm, which continues to be a backbone of rural Kentucky today.”
Artifacts are on loan from Mammoth Cave National Park Association, Kentucky Historical Society, The Kentucky Museum at WKU, Historic Railpark and Train Museum, L&N Historical Society, Shaker Village at South Union, The Green River Museum, Commission of Agriculture Ryan Quarles, Kentucky Trailer, Belle of Louisville, Gerald Roark of Scottsville, Mike Jenkins of Texas, American Motorcycle Company, Allison and Carson Torpey of the Kentucky Wheelmen, Harry Waldrop of Pembroke Kentucky, Kentucky State Police, Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky, and Randy Saltsman of Leitchfield.
The exhibit is not only interesting to visitors of all ages, but meets Kentucky’s core curriculum guidelines. School groups can schedule guided tours to see not only the special exhibit, but also numerous Corvettes and their history, as well as an exhibit on the Museum’s cave and sinkhole, and learn about karst topography. “Whether you’re a big Corvette fan, or just have an appreciation for the cars, the Museum offers a little something for everyone,” said Moore. “You can learn the history of the iconic American sports cars, see maintenance being performed on Museum-owned Corvettes, be immersed in the story of the Corvetteswallowing sinkhole, then walk through time in our Kentucky exhibit.”
“I think some of the cooler artifacts are the Dixie Flyer because it’s a rare car, it’s one of a few Kentucky-based car companies that have existed,” said Derek Moore. “I also personally like the blacksmithing tools from the Shaker Village at South Union because it’s not just about a vehicle, it’s about the tools that the people used to make vehicles. It tells the story about the people that were involved in building things like the first carriage at South Union.” The exhibit doesn’t focus solely on items or objects made in Kentucky. It tells the story of how things were used in Kentucky and how people interacted with that form of transportation in addition to the Kentucky-made artifacts like the first Bowling Green built Corvette,
The Museum is located off I-65 exit 28 at 350 Corvette Drive in Bowling Green. It is open daily, 8am-5pm CT. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for kids age 6-16 and children age 5 and under as well as active military are free. Learn more at www.corvettemuseum.org or call 800-5383883. 6

Labor day weekend in northern New Jersey is nothing but gearhead fun. In the town of Mahwah, near the Hudson river, there is a car show / event that brings gearheads and hot rodders to town by the TEN THOUSANDS!
The sixth edition of the DEAD MANS CURVE , The WILD HOT ROD WEEKEND did not disappoint anyone. Quite honestly by the many many comments on various social media outlets, it was the PLACE TO BE on the East Coast for Labor Day Weekend. The WILD HOT ROD WEEKEND fills up the grounds and blacktop at the host hotel, The Sheraton MAHWAH. For 4 full days, both day & night it is pure hot rod fun!
How big was it you ask? How about over 2300 hot rods, customs, muscle cars and all kinds of cool cruisers covering all the blacktop and grass...that’s how big it was! 42
43
Live music is another great feature of this event. 20 plus bands kept the crowds and hot rodders rocking all weekend long. The Sunday Food Truck Fest was a huge hit this year too. Hot rodders and food just kind of go together. Since it became part of The WILD HOT ROD WEEKEND, the show within the show , THUNDER ALLEY continues to be a huge draw at this event! !3 plus Funny Cars, Dragsters and wheelstanders, firing up all weekend long. Add in a Jet Dragster firing up on Saturday Night….PURE THUNDER ALLEY Fun! Congrat’s and a “Job Well Done” to the whole DMC team for another exciting and fun Labor Day weekend. Make your plans nor to be at DEAD MANS CURVE 2018...it will be bigger and better!
44
45
Thunder Alley is a huge hit with everyone all weekend long. All these race teams donate their time to the event, as well as al the fuel they use during the multiple fireup’s & cackle’s they do each day. Seat time in some of the cars during the Cackle is auctioned off and during the Fire Up’s the ALEX’s Lemonade Stand bucket is passed around for donations. 2017 saw over $5000.00 collected.!! Great job to all! Thanks to “Big” Al Liebmann for putting THUNDER ALLEY together again in 2017.
