“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….” Time, Fun, Age, Heat, Welcome & a Little More...

Say hello to 2018 part 2! While you were having fun, we slipped into the 2nd half of 2018. Why is it when you are having so much fun, the time actually does fly by. On the other hand, when your doing something not so fun, that old clock just ticks the minutes by as slow as it can. It just does and that’s life. Speaking of time, recently I heard a quote that really drove home the have fun point. A gentleman, who is 66 years old said, “ I realize that I don’t have as many summers in front of me as behind me, so I am going to have nothing but fun now”. I repeated this to myself more than a couple times since I heard it. The guy who said it, rock singer and songwriter John Cougar in an interview when sked about his smoking habit. Our hobby and passion is our fun...right? I believe that to be true. Oh there are those days that you question your sanity for dealing with these old cars or any modified vehicle at all. But ask yourself, what else would you be doing? Watching TV and eating pretzels...NAW! Summer is full of car fun. Whether your ride is running or still being built or somewhere in between, get out and have some fun at a gearhead style event. It will make you feel better...I guarantee!

I am going to put this out there again about the heat and humidity, depending where you live. The HEAT WILL GET YOU!! No one is heat proof. It’s summer, it gets hot and sticky and you need to take care of yourself. At the recently held National Hot Rod Reunion event we were at, more than a few times a day, the ambulance was hauling somebody off the property to the hospital due to heat issues. Old man sun and the heat that comes with it WILL GET YOU. If you are feeling sick, it’s too late and time to get help before you drop, and that’s going to leave a mark or much worse. Take care of yourselves, we want to see you at the next event. Speaking of events, many of you are headed to Columbus OH for the GOODGUYS PPG Nationals this coming weekend. Due to some prior commitments, we cant make it this year. Make sure you post a lot of pic’s on social media, whichever one you use, so we can see how much fun you are having Over the past few months, we have had a lot of new subscription sign ups….WELCOME TO ALL OUR NEW SUBSCRIBERS...we‘re glad you are here. Speed Alert! Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ll be giving a presentation on land speed racing at the Bonneville Salt Flats on Wednesday, July 25th at the Spencer Road Branch Library in St. Peters. The fun starts at 7pm in the SP multipurpose room 112. A few real, live record-setting racers plan to be in the seats as well. Its free! Part of my community outreach practice. Bring youngsters and teenagers. I promise to be so darn entertaining that they will put down their phones! Drinks afterwards at our home - walking distance around the pond! 2018 Tri-Five Nats...Make Plans To Be There If you haven’t yet made plans to attend the 2018 edition of the Danchuk Tri-Five Nationals, you really should. There are only a little over 30 days left until thousands of Tri-Five Chevys descend on Bowling Green, Kentucky. If you’re a fan of all things Tri-Five, the number of pre-registered participants has topped 1,500, so there will definitely be a party going on. These numbers show that the 2018 event will be the largest one yet, and no doubt it will be the best. The event is getting close, and you need to hurry up and get pre-registered. All credential packets can be picked up at the Sloan Convention Center on Thursday, August 9th, between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., or at Beech Bend Park on Friday or Saturday. If you want to extend the fun to an entire week, you can spend that time traveling and touring the area. There will be scheduled activities to visit and tour downtown Nashville, the American Pickers store, the National Corvette Museum, the famed Bourbon Trail, the Lost Caves, Advanced Plating, Holley Performance, and VIP meet and greets with TV’s Stacey David, Jeff Lutz, and Mr. Super Chevy himself, Doug Marion.

Earlier this year, way back in January, we headed west to checkout the 2018 Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona CA. While the GNRS was the main focus of the trip (check out the coverage in a past issue on our website www.gearheadgazzette.com), we arrived early on Wednesday afternoon. This gave us time to get settled into the hotel and get ready to head out on our Southern California Road Tour for 2018.

We headed out on Wednesday evening for the cruise night fun at Bob’s Big Boy Broiler in Downey CA. You never know what you will see here and this year did not disappoint! Oh yea… when at Big Boy, you have to grab a burger! Thursday we headed out to Upland CA., to check out STOKERS Hot Rod Factory Open House. They recently moved into a bigger place and that

means more cool cars to check out! What more could you ask for early in the morning, hot rods, and FREE coffee and donuts!

Bobby and his team are always friendly and willing to talk hot rods with everyone stopping by.

After visiting at WALDENS, we stayed in Pomona area and headed over to the Kennedy Bros. Bomb Factory. These guys have got it going on with all kinds of traditional hot rods in progress, sitting around and all those great vintage hot rod parts. This place just oozes cool.

After a good time at STOKERS, we headed to Pomona CA. and WALDENS Speed Shop. This stop is almost mandatory, to check out what cool metal work is being done on the hot rods in the shop 37

This year we did something different on the Road Tour. We headed to Chino CA. and the Planes of Fame Museum. WOW!!

hangers, guys were working on some planes and getting to see that and talk to them was so very cool. Some of the guys doing the work are the pilots of these planes. These are the HOT RODS of the Sky! What we thought would be a short stop turned into an afternoon of BIG fun this year. Back in Pomona we checked into the NHRA Museum at the Fairplex. What can you say but there is always some cool stuff here and worth the stop in if you are in the Pomona area. For the last stop of the day, we headed to San Dimas and the Early Ford Store. This is a time capsule in a building. If you need it for an early Ford, odds are it is here! Weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re letting the pictures tell the rest of the story on this years Road Trip...come along for the ride! 39
