“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”
“Social Media”….do you or don’t you? For me, when I look at or talk about “Social Media” it’s either Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. We have all 3 of these as accounts to communicate to the world if you will. For us, Facebook 1st, Instagram close 2nd and we do some on Twitter but not much. As you can see here, we just recently hit 13000 LIKES on our Facebook page. While other Facebook pages you may follow have more followers, we are proud of having 13k people joining in the fun on our FB page. With great respect, as people have lots of choices these days, we are proud of where we are at and what we do. While we don’t have as many on Instagram yet, we grow everyday and every week there too. It is surprising to me, the number of guys who are north of 45 in age, who aren't on Facebook or Instagram. My belief for this is a fear factor based on hype from TV or 1 person who may have had a bad experience of some kind. Women not so negativity in using either of these 2 “Social Media” tools,
This proves out the study that GROUPON did years ago, and started marketing directly to women primarily, as they WEREN’T AFRAID to try social media sites and they made decisions 80% of the time when purchases are made for the household. If you are reading this and NOT ON one of these social media sites, you are missing out on so much “CAR STUFF”!! Shoot a lot of shows and businesses are using Instagram as their primary way of communicating events, products , etc. Websites are still a useful tool, we use one ourselves. Fact is you can completely do and run your business on FACEBOOK if you choose to. For those of you NOT ON any social media, why not try it. You can always shut down the account if it isn't for you. Trying before saying NO just might surprise you. Think where would be in our hobby if some of the early hot rodders hadn't taken a chance on doling something different. Come on in...it’s all good...you’ll have fun and hit that LIKE button on our page too!

NIGHT BLIND? Have you got Dim headlights? Headwinds, the leader in custom headlights for over 26 years, introduces their Headlight Adapter Kit for the ’37-’38 Chevy and ‘37 Cadillac Series 60 that solves the problem. Installing bright H4 LED or halogen bulbs won’t help because the big rounded flutes of your original lens scatters the light beam in the trees, the ground, roadside, everywhere but the road. Headwinds adapters allow you to install and aim any 5-3/4” lamp in your original housings. Easy-to-install and lamps are available from Headwinds. Available for other makes and models. History of Chevrolet Racing Exhibit Opens at Corvette Museum
Chevrolet Racing: Louis to Le Mans Runs Through January, 2019 The National Corvette Museum’s Exhibit Hall has been transformed to feature a special themed exhibit. For a period of about seven months, that theme is the history of Chevrolet racing. The story of Chevrolet racing is told from the early days of Louis Chevrolet as a racing driver for Buick, through the AMA ban on racing, Chevrolet Racing’s involvement in NASCAR, and the Le Mans winning Corvettes. Significant stories are told through the display of various cars and artifacts, from engines including one from a C5R, and a fuel injection cutaway, to race suits, trophies from various races and more.
“With the early Louis Chevrolet driven cars, it was a matter of knowing what cars were still in existence and then asking to borrow those. Especially the pivotal cars from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway even before the famed Indy 500 existed,” said Moore. Moore says that while each car played an important role in Chevrolet’s racing history, they also each have a side story that makes the exhibit have layers of interesting history.
“I used information from Chevrolet’s press releases throughout history and looked at significant stories of people who connected to that. Like the re-introduction of Chevrolet to NASCAR “The idea of the exhibit started with Corvette’s success at Le Mans over the last few years, and in 1983 with the Monte Carlo. We looked for a really cool story around that time which led us to with the recent heyday of how well Corvette Racing is doing, I wanted to look at how Chevro- Darrell Waltrip and the Pepsi Challenger car. let wound up at this point,” said Derek E. Moore, Then there’s the “Black Widow” – an awesome car, but the story on top of that is that the “Black Curator at the National Corvette Museum. Widows” were the cars that led to the ban on “Really, the way to do that was to start all the way back with Louis Chevrolet and his success fuel injection in NASCAR.” as a race car driver. Detroit Autorama—RIDLER AWARD Rules Update After some spirted discussion and controversy, depending on who or what you want to believe, over some of the 2018 Great 8 and Ridler winner supposedly not following the rules, of not showing the car prior to being shown at the DETROIT AUTORAMA, the folks who run the RIDLER competition have updated the RIDLER Rules (see below from www.autorama.com). This all stems from some supposed shots of some of the cars being seen/shown on different social media during the build stages. This doesn't mean the car owners or builders did this, it could have been as simple as someone visiting the build shop taking pictures and showing them on their personal social media pages / sites. The folks overseeing the RIDLER Competition (TOUGH JOB!), decided an update of the RIDLER rules was needed. No matter what your thoughts, Pro or Con, this makes it understandable for all those choosing to make a run for the RIDLER. The vehicle must make its first public showing at the Detroit Autorama. Showing the vehicle (or any unique part of the entry, i.e. frame, engine or body) at any indoor or outdoor show will make it ineligible for contention. Please feel free to contact us with questions about eligibility. Except as otherwise set forth below, no photos or comments of the contending vehicle are to be posted on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, MySpace or any other social media website or internet comment board or blog or sent via text message or email. Friends, family and other third parties with access to the vehicle must be advised of the above statement and the Ridler Award Qualifications. Photos, artist renderings or videos showing the vehicle in a completed state or in finish color are not allowed, and will result in disqualification. All decisions concerning prior exposure and eligibility for the Ridler Award will be determined by the Michigan Hot Rod Association and Championship Auto Shows, Inc. 8
