What’s on your bucket list??

Like a lot of you, I too keep saying I am going to go next year. When next year comes….same thing being said again. Now mind you, things like bills, time off from work, kids, grandkids and all sorts of life things get in front of what we want to do. This is all understandable. My dad used to tell me on many occasions, “you better do what you want now, cause when you get older like me, you may want to do it but wont be able to”. He was referring to age of course as we get stiffer, move slower, complain more...and he is right as much as I sometimes don’t want to admit. My challenge to myself and to you is knock some of those items that have been on your bucket list for a long time, knock them off. Make time...let the grass grow long..turn off the TV. We only get some many weekends in life...enjoy them! FLOOR IT

My section of the Gearhead Gazzette last week, and our posts and pics this week about Bonneville and SPEEDWEEK 2018 on our Facebook page have brought interesting comments. Not surprising, a WHOLE LOT of you are in tune with the SPEEDWEEK action on “The Salt”. We love it. The other thing that came out was that going to Bonneville for SPEEDWEEK is on many of yours bucket / must do lists. Let me add myself in on that particular item on my MUST DO list too. Like all of us, or the majority of us I suspect, we all have places and things that we want to do, see or go to.

He got involved with a cool project and we want to help share the story so all of you can jump in and help too! Our buddy Blake Evans is doing something very cool...he is doing a road trip that will cover all 48 over the contiguous states in order to raise money and awareness to help those afflicted with A.L.S. Carlisle Events schedule changes for next year include modifications to its Chevrolet Nationals, Chrysler Nationals, Hurst Nationals and the Carlisle Auctions Summer Sale. Carlisle Chevrolet Nationals next year will be reduced to two days (June 21-22). All events typically planned for Sunday morning at the show will now take place Saturday evening following Burnouts and Beauty. The Chevrolet Show is also adding a dedicated Hurst display, which means the Hurst Showcase will no longer take place during Carlisle Chrysler weekend in July. The Chevrolet Nationals Hurst display will be located near the crossroads of the grounds and is being planned as a 15-20 car feature. Event organizers hope to include themed memorabilia, Hurst engineers and Hurst-centric seminars. Another addition to Chevrolet Nationals weekend will be the aforementioned Carlisle Auctions Summer Sale. The single-day sale will feature more than 200 classic and collector cars for sale, including two brandspecific power hours. The auction will be held June 22 at the neighboring Carlisle Expo Center. Meanwhile, the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals also will be reduced next week to become a single-event weekend. Chrysler weekend will continue to utilize the Carlisle Expo Center with its Thursday night kickoff party hosted by the Mopar Rebellion Car Club. 7

It started in the 1950’s when just enough of a corn field was cleared in Asbury, Missouri for a strip of concrete, a timing booth, and some parking. As the track grew through the decades, little actually changed. Today, MoKan Dragway is almost a spitting image of the track that was built in the golden era. It’s this very track where we make history every year. Early style dragsters, gassers, rails, bikes, and stock cars roar down the quarter mile in a setting that hasn’t been duplicated since the late 50’s. These traditional hot rods and race cars along with the passionate people that build and maintain them join forces to create the event we call the H.A.M.B. Drags! The H.A.M.B. Drags are special every year… In fact, we like to agree with the many that consider it the best drag racing event in the country. This year will be something else.
