“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”

“got 832 marbles and put them in jar.”

How are you spending you weekends?

The elderly man then told the young man he was like him until he turned age 58. At age 58 reality hit him, that based on life expectancy of 74-76 years, he had a limited number of weekends left in his life. He resolved to enjoy his weekends going forward. He did the math and got 832 marbles and put them in jar. He got another empty jar to put marbles in. As time and weekend went by, he moved a marble from one jar to another. This was a clear visual for him as to what kind of time he had left to enjoy his family, do things he wanted to and have fun. He then told the young man that after the last marble was moved he drew a line on the jar full of moved marbles. Now he adds a marble each weekend because he got way more than he every expected! … Moral to the story is time flies in front of our eyes. Do the things you want to do, like to do or have never done before! If you think you want to do it...DO IT. If you have never been there...GO THERE! I will raise my hand first for making reasons for not going somewhere or doing something. Not anymore. Who’s with me? I getting a marble jar. My marbles are going to be candy apple colors because their cooler...enjoy life gearheads

Life is short as I was reminded again this past week. Two people I have worked with in the past both passed away at a way too young age. We all have experienced this type of loss in our lives. In reflecting on these 2 guys lives, it brought to mind a story I read a long time ago that I never forgot. The Story about the Marbles in a Jar. Story goes like this...an elderly man of 80 years sees his neighbor outside and strikes up a conversation. The elderly man asks the younger man how it’s going? The younger man proceeds to tell him how busy he is especially at his job. He talks about how he is working many many hours in trying to impress his boss. The elderly man asks him if he is working on the weekend too at his job? The younger man replies, “OH YES, most every Saturday and even on Sunday too!” The elderly man says “wow, your boss must be very happy!” The elderly man then asked the young man, “when do you spend time with your family? When do you have time for fun?” The young man just looked at him. 5

Mid-Engine Corvette Testing! There have been a lot of spy photos published recently of the C8 mid-engine Corvette being test driven on the street, but not a lot of new information. Well now we have a video of it being tested on the NĂźrburgring.

The video shows the mid-engine C8 Corvette rounding the famous track; make sure to turn up your speakers. The people we have talked to say it sounds like a turbocharged 4.2-liter V8, just like the rumors say is one of the engine options. It is quieter than the current ZR1, leading us to agree with the turbo idea. Give it a close listen and let us know what you think. We still know very little about the C8 and this is just one of the test mules we have seen, so there may be other engine optioned C8’s running around, as the rumor mill says there will be engine options at the release. Another change to the long standing rumor that the C7 and C8 will be available at the same time, is in dispute. The new rumor is that the C7 will end production next year when the C8 becomes available. The C8 is also slated as a 2020 model year. So, if you want a front engine Corvette, this may be your last chance. Copy and paste the link here to watch and TURN YOUR VOLUME UP! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttWw8aoaq10 6

How wonderful to have our daughters Kerri & Michelle & son-in-law Chase present too. Connie and I are the luckiest people in the world to have met such fantastic friends during these years working for The National Street Rod Association. U.S. Postal Service celebrates 50 years of Hot Wheels with a first day of issue dedication ceremony at the Goodguys 26th Summit Racing Lone Star Nationals In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Hot Wheels, the U.S. Postal Service will issue 20 Forever stamps showcasing some of the most outrageous car designs from Hot Wheels. The USPS has chosen the Goodguys 26th Summit Racing Lone Star Nationals at the Texas Motor Speedway as the place for the first day of issue ceremony! This will take place at the Goodguys Stage on Saturday, September 29th at 10 am. Five Hot Wheels cars will be on display all day Saturday for event attendees to see along with being able to buy the stamps at the U. S. Postal Service booth on Saturday at the event. For the first time, Hot Wheels car designs will grace the face of Forever stamps for fans of all ages to enjoy. Arranged in diagonal rows, the 20 stamps showcase photographer Len Rizzi’s images of 10 Hot Wheels cars — two of each design — speeding along a bright orange track. Each stamp features the name of the vehicle shown in one of the top corners and the words “USA” and “Forever” in one of the bottom corners. The iconic Hot Wheels logo appears in the top right corner of the pane. The back of the panel displays the Hot Wheels 50th anniversary logo. William J. Gicker was the project’s art director. Greg Breeding designed the stamps and was the typographer Hot Wheels was born when Mattel cofounder Elliot Handler challenged his design team, which included a General Motors car designer and a rocket scientist, to create a toy car that was cooler and performed better than anything on the market. Mattel soon introduced its iconic orange tracks, which provided children unlimited ways to test out stunts and racing skills. In 2011, Hot Wheels was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame. Followers of the U.S. Postal Service’s Facebook page can view the ceremony live at facebook.com/usps. Join us at the Goodguys 26th Summit Racing Lone Star Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway and check out this amazing tribute to Hot Wheels. Photography by Craig Wide—Word by Craig Wise & Jimmy B

Mike’s shop is where Danny kept “the liner” when he brought it to “Cali” from his home in Colorado. It stayed in Mike’s shop for all the prep work by the crew for the run at the record.

Our good friend and awesome photographer( you have seen his work in other issues) Craig Wise got invited to a little get together at Mike Chrisman Racing on September 5th. The shop has always got some cool stuff going and Craig asked if it would be ok to shoot a few pic’s. Craig did just that and more than a few.!

We’ll let the pictures do the talking so enjoy them and thanks to Craig for sharing this cool SHOP SCENE with all of us.

Craig went with is long time friend, Dave Hadley. Dave is the guy who made all of the billet wheels(8) for Danny Thompson’s Challenger 2 Land Speed car, which set a new record this year at Bonneville! Dave is also the guy who built the “Hadley Box” transmissions for the Challenger 2 also.

Each stop will include: Lifesize Hot Wheels Fleet of Cars, 2018 Camaro Hot Wheels Anniversary Edition cars, Photo Ops, Hot Wheels Kids Zone, Microsoft Forza Gaming Zone, Historical Die-Cast Display, Car & Pop Culture Influencers. More Info & Enter Your Car: http://hotwheels.com/legends Register your car: http://bit.ly/HWLegendsRegistration Check out the official rules to enter your car: http://bit.ly/2vnWSH7. What We're Looking For In A Car: - Authenticity: Have you ever seen a car and said, “That looks like a Hot Wheels?” We’re looking for that “Hot Wheels-ness” that nails the amazing performance and outrageous design we’re known for. – Originality: We’ve made over 25,000 unique vehicle models in the past 50 years, so we’re looking for something with unique details that stands out from the rest. - Garage Spirit: It’s built, not bought, just like Hot Wheels. We’re looking to see some elbow grease

that exemplifies the challenger spirit it took to build. Entries will be judged by five criteria (20 points per criteria = 100 points total). Even Legends play by the rules! Join our official Hot Wheels Legends Group for more information about exhibiting your car: https://www.facebook.com/groups/HotWheelsLegends/
