The artist then has to turn the words, thoughts, sketches on napkins and scarps of paper, into something that makes sense, has a wow factor and meets the requirements of builder and car owner too. My hat is off to these artists! Oh yea, then when the rendering is done, the tweaking begins most of the time. It’s all part of the process. Some will say “I can do it without the expense of an artist”. Some can. But just like a homebuilder, he too can see the house and knows how to build it, making it look good, fit right, and build smoothly requires a set of blueprints. I contend the same thing goes for building a cool car or truck. Somewhere along the way, whether it’s a full blown rendering or a sketch on a piece of paper, you have to get that picture out of your mind.

My bet is you picture it in your mind. Key word is that you PICTURE IT in your mind. It doesn't matter if you are planning to build a complete car or truck from the ground up as they say, or if you are modifying some portion of your hot rod, you see it in your mind. Pictures are our idea’s in our mind. Each week we feature some form of automotive art work on our table of contest page for various artists. These uber talented folks do the same thing. They see a picture in their mind and they then turn that into something we all can see, with their talents. Most of the time these days, car builds are first discussed, idea’s shared between an automotive artist, the builder and if the builder is doing it for a customer, then the

FASTEST HOT ROD ON EARTH? TEAM VESCO CHISELS STUNNING NEW 482MPH NATIONAL RECORD ON UTAH’S BONNEVILLE SALT FLATS By Louise “Land Speed Louise” Noth

Bonneville Salt Flats International Raceway, UT –Team Vesco’s Turbinator II, driven by Dave Spangler, Dana Point, CA, eclipsed the current 458MPH World Record clocking a blistering 482.646 MPH certified National Record in T-3 Class during the World of Speed time trials hosted by the Utah Salt Flats Racing Association (USFRA) held September 14 – 17. Team Vesco is not done. The team will return to the salt in October focused on earning the distinction of becoming the first wheel driven car to exceed 500MPH. Spangler’s top, oneway speed of 492 MPH puts the team within eight miles per hour of its 500MPH goal. “We have the power with our 5,000HP Lycoming internal combustion shaft turbine engine and will attempt to finish the job at the SCTA’s World Finals,” said Driver Spangler of the upcoming October 2-5 event. “We have a good chance to reach our magic 500 number and invite visitors to witness hot rod history in real time!” Due to an extremely dry spring and summer the halite salt crust presents a concrete like hard surface, which lends itself to great traction racing. The amateur racing community agrees the 2018 track is the best racing surface in two decades. “People need to remember that the salt surface remains very thin,” cautioned car owner Rick Vesco. “Decades of BLM mismanagement has allowed evaporative mining operations to pump away millions of tons of salt for more than 50 years and we trust that the Save The Salt Coalition’s multi-tiered and multi-year restoration plans will rebuild our 13-mile International Raceway to safe racing conditions. We are ready to vie for a new FIA World Record, but salt is not”

The Goliath 6x6 is Ready to Tow Some Things, Smoosh Other Things Hennessey Performance has debuted the HENNESSEY GOLIATH 6X6, based on the allnew 2019 Chevrolet Silverado truck. The GOLIATH 6X6 takes the already very capable Trail Boss Z71 model and elevates its off-road capabilities to another level, according to Hennessey Performance.

"We are very excited to offer our new GOLIATH 6X6 alongside our VELOCIRAPTOR 6X6 truck," said company founder & CEO, John Hennessey. "These are very exclusive and unique vehicles that make a huge statement anywhere our clients go – whether its Rodeo drive or the sand dunes of the Sahara desert." As with anything from Hennessey, the first order of business is adding more power. In the case of the GOLIATH 6X6, the factory 6.2-liter V-8 engine is upgraded with the company's HPE700 Supercharged engine upgrade, which incudes a 2.9-liter supercharger system producing 7 psi of boost along with a stainless steel exhaust upgrade which produce 705 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 675 lb-ft torque at 4,200 rpm. ididit’s annual car show and open house sends summer off in style Michigan manufacturer welcomes more than 400 vehicles to its annual event TECUMSEH, MICHIGAN: After a summer on the road searching for the top builds and builders across the country with the I Did It with ididit Tour, the company celebrated the best in its own backyard Sept. 15 at the annual ididit Car Show & Open House. An end-of-season tradition since 1991, the event featured facility tours, free NSRA safety checks, music, food and fun, capped off by a car show packed with more than 400 registered vehicles gleaming in the late summer sun. This year’s car show was the first to be open to any year vehicle, adding two new categories for 1988 and newer trucks and 1980 and newer cars. “We want to thank everyone who came out to this year’s ididit Car Show & Open House,” said Stacey Discher of ididit. “Builders use our products every day in some of the coolest classics and customs around, and we love having the chance to welcome customers and enthusiasts to our facility to share in the fun.” While impressive cars and trucks could be found at every turn, some shone brighter than the rest as judges handed out Best of Show awards in eight categories:
