Roush Performance F-150 Released Roush Performance has introduced the newest addition to its pickup truck lineup with the trail-inspired 2019 F-150. Building on the base of the venerable F-150 platform, the vehicle has been engineered to conquer the trails while remaining poised on the street, and it includes many performance and aesthetic upgrades inside and out, according to ROUSH. The new F-150 allows buyers to choose a multitude of trim and engine options to build upon. Starting with either an XLT or Lariat F-150 Supercrew 4WD, the ROUSH F-150 can be equipped with any engine available from Ford. The ROUSH F-150 comes standard with ROUSH’s dual tip cat-back Performance Exhaust System. In addition, a premium Active Exhaust system is also available as an option. Utilizing electronic valve technology, the system enables drivers to switch between loud, quiet, and custom modes via a mobile app or console mounted switch. The ROUSH Active Exhaust mobile application enables users to have full control over their truck’s sound based on rpm, vehicle speed, and accelerator position, according to the company. The ROUSH F-150 gains some extra suspension travel and a 2-inch front lift thanks to the upgraded Fox 2.0 suspension. This suspension kit provides an enhanced look to the truck while improving off-road durability and capability as well as on-road manners. The F-150 rides on 20-inch ROUSH wheels wrapped in General Grabber ATX LT305/55R20 all-terrain.
Numerous aesthetic upgrades are also included on the ROUSH F-150 to give it an aggressive look. ROUSH combines its signature front grille with accent lighting, fender flares with accent lighting, a front bumper cover and a square “R” hitch cover to give the 2019 F-150 head-turning style. An optional ROUSH Soft Tonneau Cover by Extang is also available as well as several customizable ROUSH graphics packages. Interior modifications include molded floor liners by WeatherTech and a serialized ROUSH console badge. An optional black and carbon leather upgrade, optional console vault, and off-road utility kit are also available options. The ROUSH F-150 pricing begins at $13,450 over factory MSRP and is now available at all ROUSH authorized Ford dealers, according to the company. 6
Chevrolet Awards Big Winners From 2018 SEMA Show The SEMA show is a huge gathering of all things automotive, and if you have a car in the show and get acknowledged in a sea of hot rods, your car is something special. Each year, Chevrolet chooses several cars from the expanse of Bow Ties and bestows special awards to the owners. These annual awards provide an opportunity to be recognized in one of six distinct categories for showcasing Chevrolet products with thoughtful styling and elite craftsmanship. The winning vehicles are hand-selected by Chevrolet designers at the SEMA show.
“It was truly an honor to participate in the selection of the Chevrolet Design Award winners at this year’s SEMA show, said Rich Scheer, Director of Design, Chevrolet Trucks and Global Accessories. “It’s incredible to see so many unique and innovatively designed builds
of Chevrolet cars and trucks on the floor. We had a difficult decision in awarding the best of the best, but we celebrate the individuals and companies whose efforts really stood out.” With More than fifty entries vying for recognition in 2018, Rich and his team personally evaluated each one, on-site at the show. The winning builders were honored with a newly redesigned trophy and conceptualized in Chevrolet’s design studios to embody GM’s passion for automotive styling. Congratulations to each of this year’s winners: Best Use of Chevy Performance Crate Engine: 1970 Chevelle from the Roadster Shop Best Use of Chevy Performance Parts & Accessories: 1968 C10 from Creative Rod & Kustom Chevy SEMA Classic of the Year: 1942 Pickup from Big Oak Garage Chevy SEMA Designers Choice: 1981 K2500 from HS Customs Chevy SEMA Truck of the Year: 1956 Pickup from Premier Street Rod Parts Chevy SEMA Car of the Year: 1958 Corvette from Heartland Customs 7

Every year at the Grand National Roadster show, promoter John Buck and his team come up with an idea for a special themed display. It’s a great idea that the show attendees and participants really like. For those of you who have never been to the Fairplex in Pomona CA where the GNRS is held every year, there are nine buildings that are used to hold the show inside. Each building is numbered, making it easier to find certain things you may want to see. The special themed display mentioned earlier, well it goes into Building #9. This year the theme in building 9 was muscle cars. From wall to wall and door to door, nothing but pure American Muscle car on display.
Pick your favorite muscle car and it was there. Camaro’s, Mustangs, ‘Cuda’s and a 10

whole lot more. There were bone stock, numbers matching, modified and more. There wee survivors and some fresh off a full restoration. What was on display was pure unadulterated all American steel, that fueled the war of sales between the different brands and models. These are the cars that came out of secret skunk works and build area’s at the BIG 3, back in the day. These are the cars that were tested on Woodward Ave in Detroit at night against other cars running the streets at the time. This cool display refueled the fun that was a glorious time in our hot rod history. The American Muscle Car...nothing but cool‌. Photography by Michael Corazzelli Story by Jimmy B

FOR SALE: One Well Used and Speed Proven Wind Tunnel. Who doesn’t need a bit more shaving on the old laminar flow? Not you? Well, how about that hot rod racer down the lane who might have a genuine use for it? No? Think of what great gift this would make to your local university and you’d have a stellar write-off! Originally built by a guy out of sheer curiosity about how aero stuff works and had the spare change to do it really right. Life has downshifted and the spot he had the tunnel installed is no longer available. This tunnel has improved the speeds and records of several dozen land speed cars including George Poteet’s Speed Demon that lays down wicked quick 400+MPH runs on the Bonneville Salt Flats. It is a first-class system with operational credibility and plenty of cheerful grateful testimonials. But wait, there’s more! The owner/builder/operator will put the thing back into full operational form so how can you resist a turn-key deal? Do your diligence and you will quickly realize there is more than a million invested. That’s a whole lotta McKinley's ($500), Cleveland's ($1,000), Madison's ($5,000), and Chase's ($10,000) beside the Franklin’s and Grants. The tunnel is an open circuit, Eiffel style. It was professionally designed and calibrated. Test results show repeatable numbers with less than 1% deviation between runs. The wind tunnel began construction in 2010. It took approx. 4800 man-hours to complete over a two+ year period not including building construction or the pit under the test section of the tunnel. The tunnel is 100' long and 20'+ high at the inlet end. The test section is shaped and approx. 9'-4" high in the center and 13'-6" wide, and 50' long. The three fans are built by Howden and are 150 HP each, 460V, and are 6' in diameter. The fans are controlled by a Mitsubishi Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) with remote controller in the control room. The fans pull air through the test section then the air recirculates in the room. Wind speed in the tunnel varies from about 10mph to 80mph depending on the desired speed and the shape and size of the test object. Test object should not exceed 25 sq. ft. in frontal area for most accurate test results. This is the size of a full size car. The VFD has incremental speed control for accurate airflow around the test object. Under the floor of the test section is a pit which houses the balance. The pit is accessible by a staircase opposite the control room. The balance is a large space frame and is mounted to Honeywell load cells which are designed to hold up to a 10,000 lb. vehicle. There are seven load cells which measure lift, drag, and side forces. All forces are calculated and recorded in an Excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet displays coefficients for all six forces and moments. It also calculates all forces in Drag HP, Drag LBs, Total Lift, Lift Front and Rear LBs, and Side LBs, all at a customer selected mph. There is also a bicycle balance for testing cyclists and equipment. This balance was used to test 2000 elite cyclists. Airflow is measured by 3 pitot tubes in the inlet and 2 static ports in the aft portion of the test section which feed to a pressure transducer panel. Air turbulence is eliminated by a 3" thick aluminum honeycomb panel in the fore part of the test section. Plastic netting was added for better control. Vehicles enter the tunnel through a hinged door in the aft of the tunnel next to the fans. The current room dimensions are 49' wide, 140' long, and 35' high. A lower ceiling will be acceptable. Included in the sale: Complete wind tunnel structure from the inlet to the fan diffusers. Mitsubishi VFD. Balance with load cells and complete wiring to the control room. Bicycle balance platform with Computrainer installed. Ski Jumper beam. A large variety of car mounting stands. Complete computer system with Windows OS. Data Acquisition System including 13 pressure channels with pressure taps to the pit. Aerolab smoke generator wand. The buyer will be responsible for the building and the balance pit, all of which will be dimensionally specified in the sale. At an additional cost, I can assemble everything on the new site for a "turn key" operation including training of new operator. The complete wind tunnel will be broken down and palletized to ship. Reconstruction will take approx. 2-3 months when the building is ready. The electrical wiring of the fans and control room will have to be done professionally on site.. Approximate cost to construct in 2010, not including the building or pit: $400,000 package cost for design plans, computer hardware, software, Data Acquisitions System, bicycle balance, smoke wand. 115,000 fans with inlet bells. 30,000 VFD . 80,000 materials. 210,000 building preparation including the pit and electrical. 230,000 labor. Price: $600K For more info
