I am about having fun with my hot rod... It’s about HAVING FUN Gearheads….

Going to your local car show or cruise in, again in my opinion, is about going to have fun with other gearheads, check out some other cool cars, enjoy a day in our hobby.

I have shared this every year at some point in car show season. This is the first time I have shared this, this early in the car show season though.

If it’s the $15.00 plastic trophy you are after, go hit a yard sale of flea market and buy a used one and change the plaque info and you are happy.

Reason I am, is some of the “noise” (being nice here) I have already heard and been part of, in some discussions I have been in.

Probably going to get some hate mail...that's ok. Some of you may unsubscribe now...that ok, too.

No different than any of you, I like to be recognized for my efforts. We all do. BUT...if you are going to your local car show or even a National Event EXPECTING TO WIN A TROPHY, you are going for the wrong reason...in my opinion.

I am about having fun with my hot rod...smiles over the miles. The best trophy I get every time I drive my car, is all the THUMBS UP I get from people. I get more of these trophy's in one day than most will get chasing the $15.00 trophy over a lifetime....

Corvette Grand Sport will be the 2019 Indy 500 pace car This is the 30th Chevy pace car! When the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 takes place next month, a Chevrolet Corvette will once again be handling pace car duties. It'll mark the 16th time a Corvette has had the honor and 30th overall for Chevrolet of leading the 33 car field to the green flag for "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing." This year's race will be led specifically by a 2019 Corvette Grand Sport that just may be the sweet spot in the line up with Z06 chassis hardware, and the 460-horsepower LT1 V8 from the base Stingray. In pace car trim it will have an eight-speed automatic and wear a Long Beach Red Metallic paint job with dual silver stripes. In addition to the shiny Tintcoat, the Grand Sport wears a unique Indy 500 graphics package. Corvette fanatics remember the Grand Sport is essentially a Z06 without the extra power. While not as powerful as last year's ZR1, the Grand Sport's performance chops should be sufficient for the task at hand with a 0-to-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds. Its 6.2-liter LT1 V8 makes 460 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque, and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Magnetic Ride Control suspension and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes and 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, should help it get through the turns at a respectable clip helped by the aerodynamic bits from the Z06. The aero is nothing in comparison the open-wheel racers that will be riding behind the Grand Sport, but 1.2 g cornering capabilities are far from shabby for a street car. To see a Chevy Corvette pace the Indy 500 field once again you can make the pilgrimage to Indianapolis Motor Speedway and see it in person on May 26th this year. If a trip to Indiana isn't in the cards, however, make sure catch it on TV or you can listen to it on satellite radio. This marks the third year in a row a 'Vette will pace the race.

APR 2019: APR 20-28: REDDING CA; 30TH ANNIVERSARY KOOL APRIL NITES: The entry fee includes two passes for five days of car displays, the specialty inside show which features one-of-a-kind classic cars, and concerts each night. The concerts feature top -quality entertainment, and the regular ticket price is $10 per person per concert. There is plenty of free entertainment outside during the show days. Spectators pay $8 at the gate on Saturday to see the cars and other entertainment during the day. The cut off is 1979 or older. Your vehicle must also be street legal and insured. This is for the Cruise and Car Show. There are no exceptions. The Car Corral opens on Sunday at 8AM. You do not have to be registered for Kool April Nites to have a car in the Car Corral. The is a fee of $25.00 to park put your car in the Car Corral. You can pay that morning. Cars must be driven onto the lawn and insured. NO CARS ON TRAILERS. NO EXCEPTIONS. The Cruise on Friday night starts at 6:30 PM and ends at 8:00 PM. The street closures for the cruise start at 5:30. It is recommended that you get up to an area with in the cruise route early (before the closure begins) and wait for the cruise to start at 6:30 PM. You do not need your wristbands or tickets for the cruise. The City of Redding will start by closing the north bound off ramp to Hilltop Drive and the east bound SR44 off ramp to Hilltop Drive at 5:30 PM.**Please do not try to enter the cruise route from these locations after 5:30 PM** You MUST have your Cruise/Parking pass affixed to the passenger side windshield to be allowed onto the cruise route. The Cruise/Parking pass MUST match the vehicle you have registered for the show. We will start parking show cars at 6AM on Saturday morning. The parking areas will not be open before 6AM and if you arrive before 6AM

you will have to wait until the parking crew arrives and is ready begin setting up. Staging for parking is in front of Viking Skate Country on the road. Please wait there until we are ready to park you. You may be asked to move if you arrive too early and pick your own spot. The main classic car show and award ceremony are held on the grounds of the Redding Convention Center, at Park Marina & Auditorium Drive. The specialty car show, "Dreamworks," takes place inside the Convention Center. Raffle City and some vendors are also inside this building. The nightly concerts are also inside the Convention Center.
