fascinating things to a young kid getting bitten by the car/mechanical bug. Patience is probably a dads biggest asset/virtue. When we as kids tried to help and we took a tool and proceeded to help fix( name what you did, sand a good paint job, hammer a panel, loosen bolts and not tell dad), Dad would just give us a look, you know the look, but tell us what we did wrong and show us how to fix and repair what we did that didn’t need doing...LOL True PATIENCE My dad was that way. He is the one who took the time to show me how to do things. He was a heckuva mechanic and I learned so much from him. When I thought I knew it all and waded into a project, he let me, but when I finally asked for help, he showed me how to do the job right. He never complained...just helped me. Like many others, I lost my dad. My dad passed away over 1-1/2 years ago. He was just shy of 93 when he went to be with mom. Miss him everyday. But I will say, when I make a bone head move...I feel a thump to the back of my head...thanks Dad

For us gearheads, dad’s play a big part in our early gearhead years, as we want to get out and help him do stuff in the garage/shop. And why wouldn't we! He has all those cool tools and machines out there that make noise and do things...

Hagerty Video Contest Celebrates the Excitement of Getting Your License Teenagers who post an Instagram video about why they’re excited to learn to drive can potentially win a free driver’s ed scholarship from classic car insurance provider Hagerty. Hagerty’s License to the Future scholarship initiative comes as the percentage of American teens getting their licenses began slowly rising in 2015 after 21 years of decline, according to figures from the Federal Highway Administration. The scholarships are funded by proceeds from sales at The Shop by Hagerty, which offers a wide variety of automotive-themed products for men, women and children. “As we approach the age of driverless cars, our company’s mission is to save driving for future generations,” said McKeel Hagerty, CEO of Hagerty. “Part of that commitment is helping the next generation learn the art of safely driving themselves.” Videos will be judged on how well applicants answer the question, “Why are you excited to drive?” Scholarships of up to $500 will be awarded. To be considered, U.S. teens 14-18 must meet the following criteria: The video must be 1 minute or less in length. The video must be submitted by June 30, 2019
