“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”

the recognition we deserve It’s Our Day Gearheads!

This brings a big awareness to the rest of the population who are not necessarily “car people” that we are out here everyday.

Friday July 12, 2019 is our special day gearheads! It’s National Collector Car Appreciation Day.

There are a number of people in the USA who think what we do, drive our old cars, is a terrible thing. Yes that thinking still exists. Not from the early days of hot rodding where people thought all hot rodders were nothing but “hoodlums” and “thugs” , but many people think old cars should go and be crushed because they are old, guzzle gas and they just don’t care for them. Yes that thinking exists.

Ten years ago after a lot of hard work by SEMA and others, our government and the elected representatives in Washington DC passed legislation to have the 2nd Friday in July be known as NATIONAL COLLECTOR CAR APPRECIATION DAY. Some have asked. “Is this a big deal?” “Is it worth anything?” The answer to that from my perspective is YES! Anything that brings recognition to our hobby, passion, way of life is very good and always positive. How could it not. This collector car, hot rod, muscle car, what ever you want to call it is BIG BIG Business. Just look at the companies who are at SEMA each year with products an services for all of us. The other thing in my opinion is

With “OUR DAY” in place we get the recognition we deserve because we have earned it! Go out and celebrate “OUR DAY”. DRIVE YOUR COOL CAR or go to a car event on July 12th...why wouldn't you…. Live It Fully Everyday

Ford GT Mk II unleashed: The ultimate $1.2-million track weapon The Ford GT started as a race car, so it’s only reasonable that it would include a track-exclusive production version. Beginning at a cool $1.2 million, the Ford GT Mk II made its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England. Only 45 will be built. Essentially a Ford GTPro Le Mans race car with a passenger seat, the Mk II joins a rare breed of track-only hypercars like the McLaren P1 GTR and Ferrari FXX. The Mk II enables customers to explore the envelope of performance technology at their local raceway — a track day at Mid-Ohio race track, perhaps — without having to pay hundreds of thousands more to hire a team and enter a race series. Named after the historic GT40 Mk II that beat Ferrari at Le Mans in 1966, the GT Mk II was developed free of the infamous, so-called “balance of performance” (BOP) racing regulations that cage the full capability of animals like the Ford GTPro race car to encourage even competition across a diverse field of cars. For example, the GT Mk II will unleash the full 650-horsepower capability of the GT’s 3.5-liter, twinturbo V-6; the GTPro LeMans car is limited to 495 horsepower. “What could you do without BOP? This is the answer,” Multimatic chief technical officer Larry Holt said at the car’s unveiling to media at Ford’s Dearborn Performance Center last month. Multimatic is the Toronto race shop that birthed the sensational carbon-fiber, keel-chassis Ford GT back in 2016. Jaws will drop again when owners show up at the track with the GT Mk II. Developed by mad-genius Holt (who, with his wild mane of white hair, looks like Doc Brown from “Back to the Future”) and his Multimatic team, the GT II is a hair away from full-blown LeMans racer. “It is shockingly similar to the race car. There’s only about a 2-second a lap difference,” said Multimatic test driver Scott Maxwell who has helped develop each evolution of the modern GT. Whereas the street-legal production versions of the Ford GT sit 120 mm off the ground to properly negotiate public roads (a 70-mm track-mode height is available), the GT Mk II sits 59 mm off the ground for maximum downforce (the race car is just 56 mm). Unbound from public laws like noise and safety restraints, the GT Mk II’s comes stripped of mufflers and air bags. Also gone is the tiny rear trunk, in lieu of a rear hatch scoop for better cooling of the 7speed gearbox. The goal here is max power, max downforce, max performance. Toward that end, the GT Mk II comes equipped with a bigger front splitter and two-tier rear wing than the race car, as well as carbon-ceramic brakes for supreme stopping power. The race car is regulation-limited to steel rotors. Even the Mk II’s springs are a teeth-jarring 1,150 pounds, similar to the GT race car. While not as spartan as the interior of the GTPro LeMans car (passenger comfort is encouraged when pulling upward of 2 G-loads), the cockpit is race-ready with a full roll-cage and detachable steering wheel like the race car. A six-point, race-licensed belt harness makes the absent air bag redundant. Stripped of unnecessary weight, the GT Mk II weights in at 3,084 pounds. That's more than the 2,844 pounds of the GTPro race car, but 300 pounds lighter than the production model. Options above the $1.2 million starting price include paint colors and air jacks for quick tire changes at the track. 8

Aeromotive Celebrates 25 Years Of Fuel Delivery With A Car Show Aeromotive has been at the forefront of fuel delivery for the past 25 years. From drag racing, off-road, late model, street rod, muscle cars, tuners, sports cars, marine, and powersports, Aeromotive has lead the way in terms of integrating aerospace-grade technology into our fuel systems. Well, many people don’t know that Aeromotive is a true all-American success story. Back in ’94, Steve Matusek started Aeromtive, Inc. Steve is the son of two immigrants from Eastern Europe, and it is with that same gumption Steve started Aeromotive. A quarter-century later, Aeromotive has achieved a level of success worth celebrating – and celebrate they will. On Thursday, August 1st, from 4pm to 8pm, you too can take part in its 25th Anniversary celebration. Aeromotive will be putting on an openhouse and car show. All cars, trucks, and bikes are welcome. The show is set to take place at Aeromotive’s headquarters located at 7805 Barton St. in Lenexa, Kansas. According to the information we got from Aeromotive, “Attendees will enjoy appearances from famous racers and their cars (show up to find out who) and can shop the wares of local parts distributors, meet firefighters and policemen, and enjoy performances by local musician, Gary Lincoln. Aeromotive will also host tours of their facility.” So, if you’ve always wanted to get an inside look at just how these top-quality fuel delivery parts are made, now is your chance! What could be better than a bevy of cars, trucks, and racers gathering in one place to celebrate 25-Years of performance excellence? Well, the show and open-house has the added benefit of helping the less-fortunate. “Aeromotive’s 25th anniversary event will feature t-shirt sales and a silent auction to benefit Parenting Children with Special Needs Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of local families who have a child with challenges that are associated with a medical diagnosis.” So, there you have it, you can celebrate a true high-performance aftermarket manufacturer and help a great organization at the same time. 9

Even if you don’t own one, you are invited to come out and check all the vintage Indy cars out! The 25th annual Millers at Milwaukee– Vintage Indy Car Event, sponsored by the Harry Miller Club at the famed Milwaukee Mile racetrack. To mark the event’s silver anniversary, Johnny Rutherford — threetime Indianapolis 500 champion, 1980 Driver of the Year, USAC sprint car champion and member of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame — will be on hand all weekend. He also will share stories of his long racing career at the Friday evening banquet. One of the most impressive U.S. gatherings of Pre- and Post-WW II Indy Champ Cars, Roadsters and Laydowns, the event features vintage race cars designed by Miller, Mercer, Kurtis, Duesenberg, Alfa Romeo, and Bugatti. It’s limited to just 60 cars; applications are still open, but slots are filling fast. Rutherford has deep respect for the history of Harry Miller. “The most beautiful race car of all time is that Louis Meyer Miller No. 14 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to seeing the Millers run at Milwaukee, and to get behind the wheel of a few!” Rutherford also will donate a custom Lone Star JR helmet for the event’s silent auction, with proceeds going to the Miller Club. Gates open at 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, with vintage cars running the oval track from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The Harry Miller Club was founded by the late David Uihlein Sr. to honor Wisconsin native Harry A. Miller (1875-1943), considered among the greatest and most influential of American race car designers. Millerbased cars and/or engines dominated championship competition in the U.S. in the

1920s, winning 38 Indy 500 races. For more info go to http://harrymillerclub.com/
