“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….” “My challenge to myself and to you …”

What’s on your bucket list??

year comes….same thing being said again. Now mind you, things like bills, time off from work, kids, grandkids and all sorts of life things get in front of what we want to do. This is all understandable. My dad used to tell me on many occasions, “you better do what you want now, cause when you get older like me, you may want to do it but wont be able to”. He was referring to age of course as we get stiffer, move slower, complain more...and he is right as much as I sometimes don’t want to admit. My challenge to myself and to you is knock some of those items that have been on your bucket list for a long time, knock them off. Make time...let the grass grow long..turn off the TV. We only get some many weekends in life...enjoy them! FLOOR IT

On the Gearhead Gazzette social media sites this week, our posts and pics have been about Bonneville and SPEEDWEEK 2019 have brought interesting comments. Not surprising, a WHOLE LOT of you are in tune with the SPEEDWEEK action on “The Salt”. The other thing that came out was that going to Bonneville for SPEEDWEEK is on many of yours bucket / must do lists. Let me add myself in on that particular item on my MUST DO list too. Like all of us, or the majority of us I suspect, we all have places and things that we want to do, see or go to. Like a lot of you, I too keep saying I am going to go next year. When next

Live It Fully Everyday

They were able to take an exhilarating thrill or drift ride in the 707-horsepower Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and the 717-horsepower Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, as well as thrill rides in the Durango SRT Pursuit "Speed Trap" concept. 2020 C8 Corvette—FIRST CRASH!! Chevrolet’s highly-teased, highly-discussed, and highly-covered 2020 Corvette C8 has been making headlines since the beginning of the year. And most likely, it won’t stop here. However, when we mentioned “making headlines” we didn’t mean “making headlines because of a crash.” That’s right, fellas, we are sad to report that the 2020 Corvette has recorded its first crash and it’s not a pretty sight to watch. But these things happen and when they do, there’s not much one can do to avoid them. All we can hope is what there are no casualties and by the looks of it, the aftermath of this incident didn’t provide any. So at the end of the day, that still counts as a win. So, here’s to story so far: a 2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8 has crashed in California. According to Jalopnik, the incident took place on the CA Route 120, right between Moccasin and Groveland. Moreover, a user confirmed that the damaged Corvette C8 was part of a GM convoy, while Instagram account Wrecked Muscle cars said in the photo caption that the mid-engined Corvette “took the rear wheel off an SUV heading opposite around a turn.” The low-quality image is enough for us to see that the Corvette was moving on a winding road, but it’s hard to pin down the exact scenario of the accident. What we can see clearly, however, is that the Corvette C8 look like it underwent the IIHS small overlap crash test, as Autoblog deftly points out. Surely there are some positives we can take from this. Especially future owners of a C8 Corvette. The crash is a reminder that this is a high-performance car and it should be treated with respect. All the electronic nannies in the world won’t guarantee your safety and turning them off is out of the question unless you’re on a closed course or really, really, really know what you’re doing. If for any reason you are unsure of your ability to hone the mid-mounted V-8, then you could join a performance driving school and hone your skills and work on your confidence as well. 9

AUG 2019: AUG 17: ASBURY MO: H.A.M.B. DRAGS: Gates open at 11:00am for spectators ($10 each). Be there! Of course, Friday night (August 16) is a big night at the host hotel. We sit around, tell lies, and bench race… Plus, we typically have live music filling the air as well. ** Please note the H.A.M.B. Drags is a rain or shine event and there are no registration refunds. If it rains, we just hang out and act like hooligans. It started in the 1950’s when just enough of a corn field was cleared in Asbury, Missouri for a strip of concrete, a timing booth, and some parking. As the track grew through the decades, little actually changed. Today, MoKan Dragway is almost a spitting image of the track that was built in the golden era. It’s this very track where we make history every year. Early style dragsters, gassers, rails, bikes, and stock cars roar down the quarter mile in a setting that hasn’t been duplicated since the late 50’s. These traditional hot rods and race cars along with the passionate people that build and maintain them join forces to create the event we call the H.A.M.B. Drags! The

H.A.M.B. Drags are special every year… In fact, we like to agree with the many that consider it the best drag racing event in the country. But… This year will be something else.
