“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….” GM didn't do this because they don’t see a market
Electric Hot Rods & Customs...like them or not...they are coming at you...
Pickup Truck at SEMA this week that is all Electric. Pretty cool looking truck too. The only thing missing is the throaty sound! If you think this wont make changes in our hobby, well you are wrong in my humble opinion. GM didn't do this because they don’t see a market for this. Let that sink in folks.
TESLA, PRIUS, CHEVY VOLT & BOLT, NISSAN LEAF and other ELECTRIC powered vehicles are out there from the OEM’s today. You have seen the ad’s on TV, in the print media and on your social media too.
Additionally, out in Oceanside CA at AVS Fabrication Inc, our friend Al VerSchave recently did some cool fabrication work for a customer project that will be using a TESLA drive motor as the powerplant in the vehicle. We cant share any other info at this time on the specific vehicle, but you see what is starting to happen.
Face it gearheads, they are here to stay. Add in that GM, FORD & TESLA are all currently working on ELECTRIC powered trucks, full size trucks, and it further re-enforces where the Electric Vehicle Market is headed. If you think this wont have an effect or change what we as gearheads di going forward...you are wrong! Don’t get me wrong… I am still a “hear my motor thumping ..throaty exhaust gearhead”. Reality is telling me that there is a change coming to our passion, hobby and hot rodding overall.
We are sure that there are more of these type of conversions taking place right now. They may not be in big numbers, but they are taking place, with more to come.
If you don’t think so, or you have your head in the sand as they say, how about this one….GM Debuted a 1962 Chevy
Personally I am looking forward to seeing some of these builds. The innovation and fabrication will be great to see, on how the drive unit and batteries get placed. Now if they could add some cool V8 sounds….
Live It Fully Everyday 5

NEW FORD – SHELBY CONCEPT VEHICLES! Shelby America introduced two concept vehicles, the 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 Dragon Snake and the Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150, at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week. The 2020 Ford Shelby GT500 Dragon Snake is being exhibited in Ford Motor Company’s display inside the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150 truck was unveiled during Shelby American’s invitation-only party at their facility on the evening of November 6 and then displayed there the rest of the week. “Our research and development team continually pushes the ‘bleeding edge’ of performance,” said Gary Patterson, president of Shelby American. “These two concepts are an exploration of new capabilities, new technologies and potential new models. We optimized each vehicle for a specific task by leveraging new, innovative ideas. Now we’re seeking feedback from enthusiasts about the pair, including their thoughts on potential production.” The Shelby GT500 Dragon Snake is a modern take on a proven Shelby philosophy, featuring a dual clutch transmission and 5.2L engine. “The 2020 Shelby GT500 is truly amazing in stock configuration, but we wanted to explore its pure acceleration capabilities,” said Vince LaViolette, Shelby American vice president of operations and chief of R&D. “So we worked closely with Ford Performance and other partners to create the ultimate ‘weapon of track destruction’ in the quarter mile.” The Shelby team’s design for the Dragon Snake adds more power to the car (800 HP+), revises the suspension for maximum grip and straight-line acceleration, lightens the car, retunes the DCT and modifies the bodywork including unique wheels. The Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150 concept was built in response to enthusiast requests for a scorching fast street truck. “While our current four-door Shelby trucks are extremely popular, hardcore fans dreamed of a two door in the spirit of the great 1960s muscle cars,” said Patterson. “After an event where we were besieged with those requests, Vince LaViolette and I began penciling out a Shelby Super Snake Sport over dinner. We took that idea to trusted partners, suppliers, enthusiasts and team members to collaborate on the design and content. The Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150 is that vision come to life as a concept vehicle.” “Our goal was to build the unrivaled ‘king of the road’ F-150 and a nightmare for any other truck,” said LaViolette. “And it is. We found the Shelby Super Snake Sport F-150 concept astonishingly fast during our testing. This concept certainly lives up to our initial vision for the truck.” 7

Words by Jimmy B & Photography by Michael Corazzelli & Jimmy B
In the world of custom car shows, specifically indoor type car shows, there are a few that really stand out.
May will argue which one is the best, and a lot of those arguments tend to be regional (east coast, Midwest, west coast, etc.) by nature. If you live in a certain part of the USA, and you attend the same show year after year, you have a loyalty to that one special show. We get that and have been in some of those spirited type discussions ourselves. It all in fun and all good because how can you go wring with most any kind of gearhead fun‌.you cant in our view. Having had the pleasure to attend a good number of the bigger indoor shows in the USA over many years, one of our own top 3 favorites is the Grand National Roadster Show. We have attended the GNRS for many years now, making the pilgrimage from the Southeast region to the warmer climate of Pomona CA. 24
Even before the show moved to Pomona, when it was still the Oakland Roadster Show, we made the trip to the Bay area for the show, having attended the 50th anniversary show 20 years ago. Yes you could say we like this show a lot. So do many others and that’s why it has been around for 70 years and getting ready for #71 next January. Gearheads from around the world come to GNRS every year. Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Germany, France, Sweden and many other countries had gearheads come to Pomona to the GNRS event. Once again in 2019, the GNRS show staff did a great job producing an outstanding show. It’s not easy to do that, for a show this size with so many different shows with in a show taking place all weekend long. From the BIG event, the showing and selection of Americas Most Beautiful Roadster (see our coverage on the AMBR competition in issue #6 for 2019 in our past issues section), which is really how this show started 70 years ago, to the Grand Daddy Drive In on Saturday and Sunday and everything else in between. 25

Cool custom cars, low riders, bitchn’ trucks, motorcycles, VW’s and lets not forget the Suede & Chrome building which is a party unto itself! The show is loaded with vendors from across the automotive aftermarket spectrum and even some of the OEM manufacturers too with some cool new stuff on display. The pinstriper bash that takes place all weekend long sees some awesome automotive themed art created and auctioned off for charity. This year a new guitar was striped and before the auction took place for it, Legendary bluesman Jimmy Vaughn tried it out...that's what GNRS is about! This years SPECIAL DISPLAY in building #9 was a celebration of Model A’s. Some of the most historical Model A’s were on display. Many of which had not been seen in many many years.
There is so much more that we could go on about this show, but we will let some of the pictures we grabbed show you the cool factor of the GNRS event. It truly is…”The Grand Daddy of Them All!” 28
