We’re giving a shout out here for our friend Ron Hope and the Rat Trap Team on this cool deal they got invited to. Franklin, TN — Ron Hope owner/driver of the legendary AA/Fuel Altered Rat Trap has been invited to display the racecar at the prestigious Amelia Island Concours, at Don Garlits’ International Drag Racing Hall of Fame Gala and run at the Gatornationals. “It’s very exciting to be invited to the spectacular Amelia Island Concours.” Said Hope. “It’s always good to be invited to play in somebody else’s arena and Amelia Island is one of the world’s most important concours events. We’ll display there alongside our good friend Randy Bradford and his Fiat. I do believe that this is the first time that Fuel Altereds have ever been displayed on the green.” Rat Trap will also be on static display at Don Garlits’ International Drag Racing Hall of Fame Gala in Gainesville before hopefully making a side-by-side pass with Randy at the 50th Amalie Motor Oil Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway. “Being invited to just one of these events would be special indeed.” Said Ron. “But to be invited to all three in a row is really quite incredible and to be joined by our racing friend Randy Bradford makes it extra special. Both cars have been racing for a combined total of 100 years and we’ve been touring extensively together in the U.S. Canada and Europe celebrating our on-going 50th anniversary.” Appearance dates: March 7-10: Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, The Ritz Carlton, Amelia island, FL. March 14: International Drag Racing Hall of Fame Gala, Wyndham Garden Gainesville Hotel, FL. March 15-17: 50th Amalie Motor Oil Gatornationals, Gainesville Raceway, FL.
“None of this would be possible without the help of our family, friends and sponsors who make it all happen.” Concluded Hope. The sponsors include: Aeromotive, ARP, CARS Recon, Beech Underwriting Agencies, Donovan, Hedman Hedders, Holley, Hot Heads, Lucas Oil, Probell Racing, Pro Charger Superchargers, Powder Tech Services, SCE Gaskets, Speed Pro, TechnoCraft/TrailerCabinets, Trick Flow Specialties, USAutomotive and VP Racing Fuels. This year, Rat Trap will make a return trip to Canada and hopefully make their first visit to Australia. They will also be racing at a number of U.S. events, including the two Hot Rod Reunions at Bowling Green and Bakersfield. 8

If it’s the Sunday before Labor day, then the place to be is at The E'ville Shindig in Evansville Indiana. This is a fantastic Traditional Hot Rod and Custom show that keeps growing & getting better every year. There is also a pre-party Saturday night at Pistons Bar (also on W. Franklin St.) welcoming everyone to come out and have a drinks before the show the next day!
Over 300 classic cars were parked on Franklin Street all day Sunday. All of those cool hot rods, customs, cool cruisers and trick trucks were made before 1968. The show is put on by the E'ville DoRz Gearhead Club. Once again, the E'ville-Shindig brought in all kinds of cool rides from all over the area. The show is always full of vendors including clothing, 26

food, auto parts, pin stripping, and much more! The show also hosted a tattoo contest, pin up contest, and had bands playing the entire day. If you are into the older rides, then this show is definitely one for you. The E'ville Shindig 2018 had everything any car enthusiast could ask for, including the bar! Pistons bar was open all day ready to quench your thirst with the drink of your choice. Awards were given to those with the best cycle, rat rod, hot rod, kustom, lowrider, and more. Also at the pin up contest, the winner was announced as Miss E'ville Shindig! There was also an award given for Club Participation. This award was given to the club that had the most registered cars in their car club. The winning club received an award of $500.00. Part of the proceeds from the show were donated to different charities in the area. Nothing like gearheads helping the less fortunate out. Make your plans to be at The E'ville Shindig for 2019.
