“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”
When it comes down to it, the only thing that matters is... There are some gearheads who It’s Barrett-Jackson jack the price up on a vehicle they Scottsdale Auction have for sale, after watching the B-J Week….BRACE YOURSELF Auction. Always will be a few of those. SO WHAT?? If somebody thinks they can get more $$ for the vehicle they are selling, who are we to say that they can’t or shouldn't try. Really I bet your think your car is worth more than it really is...I know I do.
That’s right….it’s auction time on TV and you’re about to see it all ..or at least some of it...or maybe a few minutes or maybe none of it. Say what you will, the Scottsdale Auction is like a BIG CAR CIRCUS with everything that goes on. And yes we as gearheads will be watching it in some form or fashion. It’s too big an event not to.
When it comes down to it, the only thing that matters is what both the seller and buyer agree on for a final sell/buy price. Those 2 people have to be happy with the deal and agree on the transaction price. Even if someone pays more for a vehicle than you would, IT’s OK. It’s their deal. Same goes for someone selling a vehicle for less that what you think it should sell for. It’s all good for the 2 parties involved in the deal. The rest of us are spectators or possible jealous of the deal and the vehicle sold or bought.
One thing that always seems to come up after the Barrett-Jackson auction ends, is the discussion on affects this event has on classic cars, hot rods and all specialty vehicles in general.
Pop some popcorn and go watch hundreds of people spend their money the way they want to…. Live It Fully Everyday
Jimmy B.

'Bullitt' Mustang Brings a Cool $3.74 million! The first two times the famous Mustang from the movie “Bullitt” was sold, it brought $3,500.00 for each sale. $7000.00 total! On Friday Jan.10th, “Bullitt” cost a WHOLE LOT more — $3.74 million to be exact, the most ever for any Mustang. Then again, this was no ordinary car.
“Bullitt” starred in one of the most watched and prolific chase scenes in Hollywood history. Running thru the hills of that city by the bay, San Francisco in the 1968 movie. Value for the car was probably heled a bunch, in that it was driven by Steve McQueen. The 1968 Mustang GT's charisma was evident as soon as Mecum Auctions staffers rolled it onto the showroom of an arena in Kissimmee, Fla., last week. The car was mobbed! Cell phones were taking pictures and movies the whole time It was asked that the auction start at $3,500 because that’s how much it had sold for the other two times it had been sold. The first buyer was a police detective from New Jersey in 1970, and the second was Kiernan’s father, Robert, who had bought it in 1974. And that’s where the car remained until Robert’s death in 2014, when Sean took ownership. It had disappeared for many years until Ford announced in 2018 that it had found it. At the auction, the opening bid immediately jumped to $1 million and, a few seconds later, to $3 million. Organizers kept urging the crowd to sit in their seats so the auctioneer could see bidders. The name of the winning bidder wasn’t immediately available. It’s a faded Highland Green with a blacked-out grille and rusted and dented panels. It has a rebuilt 390-cubic-inch V-8 and four-speed manual. The car was modified for the movie with additional horsepower, a beefed-up suspension and mounts to support the movie cameras. The previous record-setter for a Mustang at auction was $2.2 million for a 1967 Shelby GT500 Super Snake sold in 2019, according to Hagerty, the classic-car insurance company. Only one other muscle car has brought more at auction, according to Hagerty: A 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda convertible — one of just two delivered with a 426/425-horse V-8 and 4speed manual transmission — changed hands for $3.78 million in 2014. All of those fell well short of the most expensive American car ever auctioned – a 1935 Duesenberg SSJ that went for $22 million. 7

They do it Bigger & Better in Texas! Since its beginning in 2002, the Lonestar Round Up has grown from a humble one-day outdoor car show hosted at an old football stadium to a sprawling weekend-long celebration of hot rods and custom cars for the people who build them, drive them, and just can't get enough of the music, art, history and creativity inspired by and created around them. 18
Featuring the very best in live music (some great Texas blues), a giant swap meet, vendors, and tons of traditional hot rods and custom cars from across the country take over the spacious grounds of the Travis County Expo Center on Friday and Saturday. Add in all the BBQs, open house parties, and cruise nights spread out all around the Austin area / region that the Round Up has become famous for.
19
20
The Roundup is a destination for so many each year. Once you attend one, you are hooked and will be coming back. Open to ‘63 & earlier hot rods and customs, the place gets filled up with so many cool rides. They are going to be holding the Roundup again in April 2020, so make your plans now to head to Texas and one of the best events anywhere all year long!
