The sound of lots of horsepower is changing...

you may have seen the commercial for the all new and coming soon GMC HUMMER. The ALL ELECTRIC Hummer. The commercial highlighted the sound of all that power and it was silent.

Motors are important to us gearheads. They not only move our cool cars and trucks, but also make a statement about our rides.

Ready or not...more electric vehicles are coming.

We buy and install exhaust systems to improve both the performance of the engine as well as for how it sounds or rather how it makes our ride sound.

Recently while we were in Southern California we stopped in to see our friend Al Verschave at AVS Fabrication in Oceanside CA. Al was installing a roll cage on a Autozam car from Japan. These are not sold in the US and cant be imported to the US unless they are 29 years old.

You know what I am talking about, we all turn and look when a “hard hitting” engine, makes us turn and look as a car pulls into the cruise night or car show. Next comes the walk over to see what that ride has under it’s hood, Big Block Chevy, Ford Small block, Small block Chevy or maybe a HEMI! Cubic inches and more of them makes it that much better. You know what I am talking about….most of us if honest, have done it.

Al was also installing a battery box in the car. It needed that battery box because the gas motor is gone and will be replaced with a TESLA electric motor. The other thing about this car is, it is being built for racing! This is not the only one either….more are going to be built along with the ones already modified and being raced! Now like most of you, I am a big fan of gas fueled hot rod fun in my cool ride, but as I wrote about before, electric hot rods and race cars are not just coming...they are here now!

That sound we all love hearing comes from the horsepower and torque the engine makes. More of both is never enough for us gearhead heads. A lot of times our only limits to horsepower is our build budgets for our rides. Old term but it works CUBIC dollars. 1000 HP & 11,500 FtLb of Torque….that ought to make a lot of noise when you pull into the cruise night...well maybe.

Super Bowl Chiefs Coach Andy Reid still drives the car his dad bought for $25 in the 1940s Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl over the weekend, giving the coach his first ever victory in the big game.

And to celebrate, the seventh-winningest coach in NFL history very well might take a ride in his restored 1928 Ford Model A. The car, according to CNBC, was passed down to the coach by his late father, Walter Reid, who purchased the vehicle in the 1940s for just $25. The car is a 1928 Model A Ford, Ford’s successful follow-up to the iconic Model T, and it’s likely not Reid’s only mode of transportation. However, Reid still occasionally drives the classic car that he fully restored after inheriting it from his father, who died in 1992. The elder Reid drove the car for nearly five decades, while the coach himself frequently got behind the wheel when he was a teenager growing up in southern California. While serving as an assistant coach for the Green Bay Packers in the 1990s, Reid had the car completely restored with the help of some friends working at Lambeau Field. 6

SEMA Show Unveils New Website The SEMA Show has rolled out a new website, which the organization says has been updated to improve ease of navigation for a more user-friendly experience. The new homepage offers users three options: ‘exhibitor,’ ‘attendee’ and ‘media’ buttons, which open up to a unique page specific to the needs of each type of Show participant. The exhibitor page provides information regarding participating in the show. The attendee page offers schedules, links to the New Products Showcase and additional resources for visitors. Users can choose from seven different languages. The media page helps media attendees to prepare for the Show by providing information about the Media Center, how to submit press releases and links to celebrity appearances. Each page also features a map of the floorplan, information about transportation to and from the Show, and travel and lodging through OnPeak—the SEMA Show’s official housing partner. The 2020 SEMA Show takes place Tuesday–Friday, Nov. 3–6.

If itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Memorial Day weekend, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s time for one of the best events in the USA...BEATERSVILLE! The 2019 Beatersville Car and Bike Show did not disappoint. Even though there was a threat of rain (and a downpour during the afternoon happened), 600 pre-1968 hot rods, customs, rat rods and motorcycles entered the 14th annual show. All of these cool rides took over a portion of the Portland neighborhood in the Warehouse District at 15th and Portland Avenue in Louisville, Kentucky.

The 14th annual event had cars, trucks and motorcycles from all over the midwest showing up and showing out for this favorite show 24

Multiple bands, vendors, the Miss Beatersville contest food trucks and much more were set up. The Tim Faulkner Gallery (1512 Portland Ave.), was the place to be for the live music by nearly 15 bands on two stages, including The Tunesmiths, The Hot Wires, Vice Tricks, Psychohawk and Tsunami Samurai. Even with everything going on at this gearhead favorite show, the cars are still the stars and they bring the spectators out in big numbers from the Louisville area and the Midwest region too! The date is set for the 15th Annual Beatersville Car & Bike show on Sunday May 24th. Make your plans now to be part of the Beatersville fun! 27
