“ Ya Gotta know where to Go….The FUN Starts Here….”
“how it looked when you were a kid” These old cars and trucks we build and drive are about memories...
this will make it more drivable and safer with better brakes and such on it. Whichever way you build, buy, do yourself or have modified is ok. It’s all good and what you do makes you happy.
Why do you drive the hot rod or classic car or truck you have? Why are you building it or restoring it? Why are you throwing wads of cash into something old??
But why do WE all do this? It’s not easy all the time.
Everybody has their own reasons for owning an old car and taking care of it. Some love the challenge of the re-build or restoration. These folks get more fun on the build than driving the vehicle in some cases.
We do it because that car or truck is a gateway to our past. A time portal if you will, to a time in life that was simpler and fun for us. For the most part, we were all much younger. You own a vehicle that caught your eye because of how it looked when you were a kid or teenager. You may have one like your dad did. You remember sitting in that car for the first time...smelling the interior, feeing the cloth or vinyl on the seats. You may have flipped on the AM radio and tuned in your favorite channel...after the tubes warmed up. You remember how it sounded and felt like going down the road.
There some gearheads who want to customize a car or truck to what they believe is the best looking vehicle out there. Stock from the factory was or is just a starting point for some metal work and modifications. We also have the car lovers who want to keep the car or truck stock...just like it came from the factory, because they think that’s is the best...all original!
It’s the good memories...that’s what this is all about. Reliving those good times we remember….so FLOOR IT!!
Then we have the gearheads who are in-between...liking the way the vehicle looks but updating the chassis and powertrain , for in their mind
Live It Fully Everyday

1936 FORD WINS THE CUSTOM D’ELEGANCE AWARD AT THE 70TH ANNUAL SACRAMENTO AUTORAMA The Sacramento Autorama, one of the world’s longest running indoor car shows, hosted over 500 world-class custom vehicles and handed out over 400 individual awards during its awards ceremony on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds in Sacramento, California. The most prestigious of these awards was the Custom d’Elegance which was awarded to Jeff Boone’s 1936 Ford Custom. Other major award winners included Glenn Black who won King of Kustoms with his 1949 Mercury Custom and Bob Dron who won the H.A. Bagdasarian “World’s Most Beautiful Custom” for his 1948 Chevrolet Fleetline. The Sacramento Autorama’s most coveted award is the Custom d’Elegance. Each year it is given to the best chopped, channeled and sectioned vehicle from 1935-1948 that embodies the true spirit of a classic custom. This year, the ’36 Ford Custom triumphed over the other six contenders, earning its owner a spot alongside industry icons like Gene Winfield, Joe Bailon, George Barris and John D’Agostino on the historic perpetual plaque, as well as $2,000 in prize money. The ’36 Ford was originally purchased by Boone’s grandfather in 1941. His grandfather began modifying the car in period to promote his used car dealerships. After being submerged in a flood, the car sat unused until it was gifted to Boone in 1973; he was just 11 years old. Boone began collecting parts and slowly put the car back together as he grew older. The long restoration process ultimately brought him to Sacramento Autorama this year where the car was shown for the first time. The custom features a 221 cubic Inch Ford engine mated to a ’39 Ford three-speed transmission. The roof has been chopped three inches, door corners rounded, B-pillars slanted and much more. 6
Carroll Shelby Signature Series Mustang Introduced at NADA In Las Vegas The 2020 model Carroll Shelby Signature Series Ford Mustang was introduced by Shelby American at the National Automobile Dealer Association Show (NADA) in Las Vegas on February 14th. The sports car is available with a choice of convertible or fastback, automatic or manual transmission and 825 street legal horsepower. A total of 50 limitededition sports cars will be available. “The limited edition 2020 Carroll Shelby Signature Series Mustang is the ultimate combination of exceptional design and amazing brawn,” said Gary Patterson, president of Shelby American. “From its refined, yet functional styling to its poised handling and awesome power, this is the most polished performance car in Shelby American’s history. With its performance capabilities, this Shelby is the automotive equivalent to a champion ultimate fighter who looks as good in a tux as he performs in the ring.” The Shelby American team spent the past two years carefully engineering and refining the car to create a vehicle worthy of Carroll Shelby’s name. They worked closely with Ford Performance and other partners on the new vehicle. The Shelby Signature Series Mustang features a Shelby-specific tuned suspension, up to 825 horsepower, high flow exhaust and new brakes. The car’s bodywork may be the element most noticed by enthusiasts. “The body was widened with high quality aluminum fenders to create a ‘square’ footprint,” said Vince LaViolette, Shelby American Vice President of Operations and Chief of R&D. “This allows the one-piece forged Monoblock wheels and Ford Performance tuned MagneRide suspension to maximize the incredible power churned out by the supercharged 5.0liter motor. The metallic ram air hood, front fascia and bodywork were all carefully sculpted to both tame the air and dramatically drop under hood temperatures. The fit and finish are unbelievable, making it as stunning at rest as it is in motion on the road or track.” All 50 super cars were identified by special badging and will be listed in the official Shelby Registry. The cars can be ordered in any standard 2020 Ford Mustang colors. 7

14th Nashville Story & Photography by Jimmy B
Nationals Goodguys returned to Music City for three full days of southern-style hot roddin’ fun at the 14th Nashville Nationals. Once again the event was held at Nissan Stadium in downtown Nashville. This has become a comfortable home for the event for bot gearheads and Goodguy too.
Hot rodders from across the Mid-South region and further gassed up their hot rods and grabbed all their friends and family and headed on over to see more than 2,500 of the finest 1987 & older hot rods, customs, muscle cars, trucks & classics in the country on display! Getting early birds in town ready for the 14th Nashville Nationals was the Kick Off Party & open house at ADVANCED PLATING. The festivities were held at their NEW location in Portland 20
Tennessee, just a short drive north of Music City. While mother nature provided some liquid sunshine for part of the afternoon & evening, a great turnout took place which was great to see! The 14th edition saw the layout of the event be flipped around at the stadium due to the NFL Draft Event that was held in Nashville the weekend before Goodguys cam to town. Kudo’s to Goodguys for making the event work in a new layout on short notice. Gearheads got see the cars and trucks pounding Goodguys AutoCross timed racing competition, the Music City Mayhem AutoCross competition. Close by to the Autocross action, the Nitro Thunderfest Dragster Exhibition had Nitro flames coming out of the zoomies for everyone to enjoy,
With over 150 vendor exhibits, the Swap Meet, Cars 4 Sale Corral and Live Music Entertainment featuring some of Nashville’s best local acts, a good time was had by everyone in attendance. There were special parking areas on Saturday for gearheads showing off their 21
rides, a FREE Kids Zone, the judging and awarding of the Builder’s Choice Awards by Bobby Alloway, and the crowning of the Goodguys 2019 Hot Rod of the Year! All years American made, or powered vehicles were welcomed on Sunday for the Spectre Performance All American Sunday. Make your plans now to be part of the 15th Annual Nashville Nationals June 1214, 2020. Head to www.good-guys.com for more info and to register.
