Heat stroke happens, and can creep up on you without even realizing it, when temps get close to the 100 degree mark , but it doesn’t have to be 100 degrees or above to affect you. It’s how much your body heats up, and it will if you are out in the sun for more than a little while.

July 15th marked the halfway point of meteorological summer. That means we are halfway thru the summer car show and cruise season. It’s flying by, so make sure you are having gearhead fun!

Check out the chart here to know what to recognize for yourself or on your friends if you are out in the sun and heat for a long time having car fun.

As you are having gearhead fun, make sure you do it SAFELY my friends! Summer 2022 for most of the USA has been extremely HOTTTTTT!

I am not saying to not go out and have gearhead fun over the next month or so while it stays real hot, it is summer in the northern hemisphere, just go out and do it SMART & SAFELY!

This is not a debate about global warming, but the fact that there is a severe heat wave with a grip on most of America, making having gearhead fun tricky. Our events are outside in the heat. A lot of us are older these days (I’ll raise my hand first) and that factors into how we are able to take the sun and heat. Add in humidity in a lot of places and it gets even worse.

Hot Wheels K.I.T.T. Pontiac Trans Am Celebrates Knight Rider’s 40th Anniversary The first season of Knight Rider, the iconic television series starring David Hasselhoff, was released to the public on the 26th of September, 1982. That means the 40th anniversary of the action crime drama is just around the corner, and Hot Wheels is marking the occasion with a limited-edition 1982 Pontiac Trans Am diecast replica of the series’ artificially intelligent hero car, K.I.T.T. Hot Wheels recently unveiled a unique Pontiac Trans Am K.I.T.T. diecast model with a working LED scanner bar, emulating the original “anamorphic equalizer,” from the series, along with an accurate gloss black-painted exterior with black wheels and a blue and yellow California plate reading “Knight.” Users will be able to recharge the diecast via a charging port in the bottom of the vehicle. Hot Wheels staff product designer Brendon Vetuskey said the K.I.T.T. model marks the first time the company has been able to integrate a working LED light bar into a smaller diecast model. K.I.T.T. also features a full interior, further setting it apart from regular Hot Wheels cars. “So what makes this car different from all the previous Hot Wheels castings is it has a working scanner, which we’ve never been able to do in 1:64 scale before,” Vetuskey explained. “Also equally impressive is we still have an interior, so we still have the dashboard, the seats, we even added a courtesy cover in the trunk, so it’s a little point of difference from our mainline castings.” K.I.T.T. was based on a 1982 Pontiac Trans Am, with the vehicle’s A.I. system voiced by actor William Daniels. The vehicle is one of the more iconic cars from the small screen, joining the ranks of the Dukes of Hazzard’s General Lee and the original Batmobile.

The Hot Wheels K.I.T.T. model will be available to purchase via Hot Wheels web shop on July 22nd, 2022, or from the Mattel booth at the San Diego Comic Con later this month.

NEED YOUR HELP!! I’m looking for my dad’s old Ford roadster. He built it with my mom in the late 50s and 1960s in Pennsylvania and then sold it in the late 60s or 1970s, but always regretted selling it. It’s a 1928-29 Model A body on 1932 frame that he Z'd. It was originally metallic maroon, but then repainted green shortly before he sold it. It originally had a flathead with supercharger, but was changed to a Chevy 327 with 1960s corvette fuel injection unit before being sold. The 39 ford blue dot taillights may have been replaced before it was sold because he got a ticket w/ them. The cowling seam was welded/filled. It originally had a Cadillac La-Salle transmission, but not sure if it was still in it at time of sale. The car was purchased from my dad near St. Michaels on the eastern shore of Maryland and the buyers may have been a father and son who owned a car dealership on western shore of Maryland, possibly BelAir area. I’m not sure about the buyer info but that is what my Dad recalled about selling it, but he could be confusing that information with one of his other old cars he had sold back then. The night will bring a celebration of light. Light up your vans, your campsite, your person. Make it mobile and move amongst the masses. Be part of the collective experience. It will culminate with a burning of the van and a firework display in a ceremonial merging of the first 50 years of vanning with the second half century to come. “That’s Money!” You’ve heard the saying used on TV shows, by your kids and in a

lot of places these days. Saying “that’s money” means what ever you are looking at, doing or whatever is a very very good thing! This 1932 Ford Roadster owned by Justin Moriarty of Grain Valley Missouri is definitely MONEY! 53

We first saw Justin's ‘32 Roadster a few years back when he entered one of our magazine cover contests. Not only did he enter but he won also! A cool hot rod like this gets a lot of looks and votes too. We met Justin in person in 2019 at Pete & Jakes Hot Rod Parts annual open house. Since the weather was less then stellar, some liquid sunshine falling from time to time, Justin left the 32 at home but came out anyway to checkout the event. Fast forward to 2021, and another Pete & Jakes Hot Rod Parts open house event. This time Justin drove the roadster out to show. Seeing it in person we knew we wanted to run a feature on it to share it with all of our readers. 54

Justin knew for many years before he built his roadster that this was the hot rod he wanted. He wanted it to look good, have flashy paint, chrome wheels, one bitchin hot rod was his plan. He nailed it! When Justin pulled the trigger in 2010 and dived in to the project he called on Show Me Rod & Customs to get one of their fiberglass body's that is stretched 2 inches and has a smooth rear roll pan on it, to start massaging on, to make that flashy paint look great. Justin also added a Rootlieb hood to complete the body and get the look he was after. After the body was smoothed and prepped, the BASF-DIAMONT Synergy Green was sprayed by Bob Johnson at Johnsons Autobody in Independence Missouri.

Justin is an Electrician by trade working out of IBEW Local # 124, so handling the wiring wit was no problem for him before the interior was created.

Before the roadster went to Vintage Fabrication in Independence Missouri for interior, Justin gauges (bought in 2001 because in he knew he wanted them for the hot rod) into the 1932 Fo got the steering column topped with a Billet Specialties steering wheel in the right position. Justin is quick to tell you that he had lots of help on the roadster. He credits his dad who planted the hot rod bug in him back in 1984 when they were cruising in dads 1940 Ford Coupe.
