One thing we have noticed , a very interesting trend, is that there are a lot more CRUISE-IN’s being planned and set up this year then in years past. We have even gotten information on some long time many year car shows being flipped to a cruise-in versus carrying on as a show type event. The good thing about all this, is that we can all participate in the events we choose to go to. No restrictions, no cancellations (unless weather forces it) just hot rod fun straight ahead. We can never make up for hot rod fun we lost over the past two years, because of what our country went through, but we can plan plenty of car fun for 2022. Remember gearheads, we only get so many weekends in life...don't waste one. Get in your cool ride...roll the windows down...fire it up..hit the two lane blacktop and LET THE GEARHEAD GOOD TIMES ROLL!

2022 LEGEND CUP WINNER!

Congratulations goes out to Wes Rydell for winning the 2022 LEGEND CUP at the 59th Annual Chicago World of Wheels Show held the 2nd weekend in March. The 1941 Chevrolet Fleetline was built for Wes by the team at RAD RIDES BY TROY. Taking a four door car and turning it into a stunning two door hot rod proved to be the winning trick, Wes also won a TOP TWENTY and SELECT SIX award on his way to winning the LEGEND CUP and the $10,000.00 prize

‘Roadsters 2 Records’ Exhibit Coming to IMS Museum A new exhibit highlighting a revolutionary era of the Indianapolis 500 is coming to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum next month, the organization announced.

“Roadsters 2 Records: The Twelve Years that Revolutionized the Indianapolis 500” opens at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum on April 1 and recounts an era in racing, from 1960 to 1972, that saw innovation, the emergence of new stars and the birth of some famous Indianapolis 500 traditions. The exhibit will feature numerous cars, uniforms and artifacts that tell the story of this evolution in racing, the museum said. Starting in the early ’60s, “Roadsters 2 Records” will showcase popular American drivers such as A.J. Foyt, Parnelli Jones, Rodger Ward and their front-engine “roadsters.” In 1964, Foyt claimed his second career Indianapolis 500 win, but it was also the last time a front-engine roadster would win at Indy. During this time, a wave of talent, technology, ideas and style arrived from Europe, spurring the rear-engine revolution in full force by Jim Clark’s 1965 Indy 500 victory. Only one front-engine car started the race by the following year, setting the stage for the modern era of racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. “Roadsters 2 Records explores the most pivotal era in Indianapolis Motor Speedway history,” said Jason Vansickle, vice president of curation and education. “As technology advanced, legendary drivers battled on the 2.5-mile oval as speeds records fell. These 12 years still resonate with IMS fans today, the brawny ‘roadsters’ transformed into high-speed rear-engine winged cars, beginning the modern era of IndyCar.” Guests will have the opportunity to study a selection of cars demonstrating the evolution in engineering and technology that developed the vehicles we see in racing today. “Roadsters 2 Records” also highlights many beloved Race Day traditions that began during this time, including pre-race parade laps and the first time Jim Nabors performed “(Back Home Again in) Indiana.” “Roadsters 2 Records” opens to members on March 31 and the general public on April 1. 9

ROUSH Performance Introduces 2022 ROUSH F-150 Roush Performance announced its 2022 ROUSH F-150, which features off-road performance upgrades while adding specialized styling cues, the company announced. Major changes to the 2022 ROUSH F-150 include new suspension, custom wheel design, exhaust upgrades and aesthetics package. The ROUSH Performance Coil-Over Suspension System is a comprehensive upgrade to the handling and stance of the 2022 ROUSH F-150 when paired with the recommended 33-inch General Tire Grabber A/TX tires and strengthened 20-inch Iridium Gray Satin wheels. ROUSH Performance added fender flares to account for the extra width of the front and rear tracks. The fender flares feature accent lighting and come standard in Satin Black to match the front grille and other exterior components. They are optionally available in a colormatched finish on some select exterior color options, the company said. Additional lighting is found in the ROUSH front grille and continues the satin finish look found throughout the rest of the 2022 ROUSH F-150. To further optimize cooling, ROUSH Performance added heat-extracting hood vents. The Satin Black finished vents allow heat to escape the engine compartment, the builder said, while an additional ROUSH fender badge in the factory location compliments the enhanced looks. The ROUSH Performance exhaust system adds to the aggressiveness of the truck in terms of sound and style, the company said, available with the optional Active Exhaust System, allowing for custom settings depending on the preferred driving style. The 2022 ROUSH F-150 is equipped with additional Satin Black ROUSH branding graphics above the windshield and on the tailgate. There is also an optional graphic package for those that want a more pronounced look. Customers can choose from the 302A XLT or 502A Lariat Ford F-150 chassis with the choice of nine exterior color options and two different leather interior options from the ROUSH Premium Leather Package. 2022 ROUSH F-150s built on the XLT chassis receive two-tone gray and black leather seating, while Lariat packages receive an all-black, vintagecarmine matching leather interior. The ROUSH Premium Leather Package also features an embroidered ROUSH logo on each headrest and more subtle square “R” and American flag tags. 10

Carlisle Events Preps for Ford Nationals Carlisle Events as revealed details for the upcoming Carlisle Ford Nationals presented by Meguiar’s, scheduled for June 3-5, event organizers announced. This event hosts Ford enthusiasts from across the country and more than 3,200 vehicles on the National Parts Depot Show field, and will also include special displays, themes and guests. Participants helped set a new Show field record in 2021 with 3,240 registered vehicles, organizers said, and are aiming to break the all-time record for show cars at Carlisle, 3,298, which was set in 2003 during the former Custom Compact Nationals. Ford returns for the 2022 event and will feature special displays highlight the Ice White Mach 1, Ice White Mach-E, Shelby GT500, Raptor and additional vehicle yet to be announced. Ford will also have a display dedicated to electrification showcasing not only the Mach-E, but also the Shelby Mach-E GT, show organizers said. Shelby American will also be on-site with a special Friday unveiling, the company said. The Carlisle Ford Nationals also celebrate the history of the brand with special displays and guests. Planned displays for 2022 include the following: Shelby 60th Anniversary, Lightweight Reunion, SSP Mustangs, Annual Ford Nationals Select Display, Modified 6th Gen Broncos (Bronco Summit), and Ford EVs (Ford Electric Avenue Display) Participants will also hit the streets of downtown Carlisle on Saturday night for the annual Ford Parade and Street Party, organizers said.

There will also be multiple activities, including a rolling exhaust contest, autocross ridealongs and the Real Street Shootout (autocross). The Carlisle Ford Nationals is already taking registrations for the show field, vendor registrations for the automotive flea market, and selling discounted spectator tickets in advance of the June 3-5 event, the organization said. The gearhead doctor prescribed a day of gearhead fun at the 2022 CHATTANOOGA WORLD OF WHEELS show. After a one year hiatus due to COVID – 19 precautions being taken, The show took place the weekend after the New Year’s holiday, and was timed perfect to give everyone a chance to get rid of any amount of CABIN FEVER.

Once again, the 2022 edition of the Chattanooga World of Wheels show had a great mix and variety of entries competing for the awards. Not one of the biggest ISCA shows on the show car circuit, it is still one not to miss. This one is on our schedule for many years now, as we kick the our year off with this event. We can tell you that we plan on kicking off our 2023 Winter Road Tour here too. Why not...it’s the perfect cure for your CABIN FEVER. We will let the pictures show you all the fun we had curing our case of CABIN FEVER.
