Herman A. Roth Jr.

Herman A. Roth Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 17, 2018. Herman and his wife, Virginia, made their home in Chesterland for 55 years. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage and he would have turned 90 this March. In 1948, Herman enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserves before joining the U.S. Army and serving in Korea. He studied electrical engineering in Angola, Ind., and worked in Cleveland as a construction electrician and member of the IBEW for 60 years before retiring. Herman and Virginia raised three chil-

dren, William (Laurie), Karen (Russ) Hathaway and Brian (Sheri DeSapri). They are grandparents to Caitlyn, Tyler and Emma Roth, and Justin and Megan Hathaway. Together Herman and Virginia traveled from Alaska to the Panama Canal in South America, and enjoyed cruising all around the Caribbean. For the past 30 years they toured the U.S. with their 1940 Ford sedan as members of the Northern Ohio Regional Group of the Early Ford V8 Club of America. Their car earned many national and regional awards. Visiting with family and friends will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland. A short celebration of Herman’s life with take place at 4 p.m. Donations to Cleveland Clinic Hospice are asked in lieu of flowers.

Youth Sports Varsity Hockey Organizational Meeting

There will be a West Geauga Varsity Hockey organizational meeting this Tuesday, Jan. 30, at West Geauga High School in Room

Frozen Fest

Jan. 28, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join Geauga Park District for its fourth annual Frozen Fest at The West Woods. Visit bit.ly/gpdspecial for a complete schedule to include live reindeer; guest appearances by ice princesses, a popular reindeer herder

and a winter snowman; snowshoeing; live ice carving and sculptures; snow-themed crafts; face painting; refreshments and more. The nature center is fully wheelchair accessible. Due to the popularity of this event, however, strollers should be left outside. The parking lots always fill quickly; overflow parking locations will be located at ASM and Teague Plaza, equipped with even more free shuttles than last year.
