Back to School

Make sure a GCPL Library Card is on your school supply list.

As summer winds down and many families prepare for another school year, I am excited to highlight some of the ways that Geauga County Public Library can provide support to students and families throughout the new school year.

Here are just a few benefits a Geauga County Public Library card provides for patrons.

Online Educational Support

We have many fantastic resources for students. HelpNow from Brainfuse and Rosetta Stone are just two of our many free databases available to support students throughout the school year. The Brainfuse HelpNow function offers online tutoring that may be especially helpful for students needing real-time assistance with homework. Rosetta Stone provides essential support for foreign language classes.

At-Home Educational Activities

GCPL also has many learning kits to engage young and school-age children in educational games and activities. Check out Literacy Boxes, Early Reader Backpacks, STEAM Kits, and our new adaptive Replay collections. Each kit includes a themed book, educational games, activities, and items to encourage your child to discover new interests while supporting literacy, and helping your child enjoy learning.

In the Library Resources

Local branches have study rooms to accommodate 1-4 people when students need a quiet place to concentrate. Our meeting rooms can provide more space if needed to work on larger group projects. As always, our creative, knowledgeable, and friendly staff are available to help you find the resources and materials you need to complete any school or educational project. The staff is truly our most valuable resource for your information needs.

Digital Legacy Labs for history projects

Patrons of all ages may want to check out our Digital Legacy Labs for preserving photos, negatives, film, records, or tapes. Whether for a school history project or to digitize old photos for your family, the Digital Legacy Labs will help patrons preserve history for future generations.

A GCPL Library Card is the most essential item on your school supply list.

A GCPL card provides you with all the above benefits and much more. September is National Library Card Sign-up Month and is a great time to visit a local branch to get a library card. A library card will provide access to materials from any CLEVNET library, access to a collection of free databases, as well as eMedia from Libby, Overdrive, Hoopla, and Kanopy.

From borrowing audiobooks to streaming movies to taking do-it-yourself classes, a world of information and entertainment can be easily accessed with your library card. Visit a Circulation Desk for more information and connect to a world of entertainment and educational support.
