POLÍCIA MILITAR DE MINAS GERAIS Structured on hierarchy and discipline, the POLÍCIA MILITAR DE MINAS GERAIS, since 1775, provides public safety services in Minas Gerais. TIPS AT AIRPORT
The boarding and landing moments are the most critical. Fatigue and overcrowding at airports result light-minded travelers and, consequently, vulnerability to theft. Pay attention and follow these tips: •
Upon arrival, make sure that your luggage is closed exactly as it was in the shipment; especially if any electronic equipment and money were inside;
•
Do not handle large amounts of money in public;
•
If you need to use an ATM, make sure that your password is not seen by other person. In case of equipment crash, request assistance of any identified officer;
•
If some unknown person feels bad and asks you to seek help, do it without leaving your belongings with him;
•
When using a taxi or rent car service, prefer identified companies and professionals.
•
When using the phone inside the taxi, put the handset on the opposite side of the window.

AT THE HOTEL
The hotel will be your home in Belo Horizonte. Then watch out for the following recommendations and enjoy safely your trip: •
When making your meals, prefer to leave your belongings in the apartment; or request any employee to store it in a safe place while you eat;

Do not leave your wallet, cell phone and other belongings above the table;
•
By using common area of the hotel, keep your belongings under your supervision;
•
If you receive visitors in your hotel room, it is essential to fill the visitor record at the hotel reception;
•
Use the safe of your room.
•
Avoid talking about important issues close to strangers, especially if they involve money;

In any establishment, when using a credit card, don’t keep it away from you. Ask to be used in your presence and check the value before entering the password, requesting the seller’s proof.

AT PUBLIC PLACES, STREETS OR PARKS
Overcrowded events and public places requires more attention to the visitor. Many people walking around with purses and bags become an easy target for theft. •
Do not ask directions to strangers. Request Polícia Militar officers for information or ask it in commercial establishments;

Pay special attention to people around you. Remember: burglars use the surprise and inattention to attack their victims;
•
Do not reveal personal information to unknown people;
•
Avoid to walk alone, especially at night, at dark and deserted streets.
•
Do not flaunt necklaces, watches, medals, rings, bracelets, cameras, mobiles, tablets and other belongings;
•
In popular manifestations, avoid approaching groups of riots and vandals. They use the crowd to stay unnoticed and practice crimes.
•
In every Fan Fest event, there will be POLÍCIA MILITAR officers. If you have any problem, look for a POLÍCIA MILITAR officer. He is prepared to help you.

AT SOCCER STADIUM Governador Magalhães Pinto Soccer Stadium, known as Mineirão, was established in 1965 and it is the fifth largest stadium in Brazil. With public transport and easy access by main roads, its structure was renewed to host the World Cup FIFA 2014 matches, to offer comfort and well-being to fans. However, to safely enjoy the moment, observe the following reminders: •
Early, find out the correct gateway set for your country team, as well as the stadium access to its fans.
According FIFA’S TICKET SALES REGULATIONS FOR GENERAL PUBLIC, is prohibited to sell, offer for sale, resell, donate or transfer tickets in any other way without the prior FIFA’s written consent. The goals of limiting transfer of tickets are event security, consumer protection and economic justice.

IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT Public transport in Belo Horizonte is composed by buses, taxis, vans and subway. Due to the large influx of users, it requires the attention of tourists aiming their safety. So, pay attention: •
Stay awake. Do not take a nap;
•
Stay alert with people who seat near you. If you suspect something, look for a POLÍCIA MILITAR officer and ask for help;
•
Distrust strangers who try to approach. Do not accept invitations from people who you do not know;
•
Within public transport, place your belongings (cell phones, wallets, cameras, etc.), purses, and bags in front of your body, especially when crowded;
•

Do not flaunt jewelery and other belongings;
•
Put money and wallet in the front pocket;
•
Distrust bumping, pushing or elbowing;
•
Before entering the vehicle, keep the money at hand, avoiding pull out your wallet publicly;
•
Avoid stopping near other vehicle’s doors;
Avoid being alone at bus stops, especially at night;
•
In a bus with few passengers, sit next to the driver.
•
Avoid being near ratchet.
APPROACHED BY A POLÍCIA MILITAR OFFICER: •
Stay calm and do not make sudden movements. Stay in the position ordered by police until the end of the approach;
•
Inform your nationality. If necessary, the police will arrange an interpreter. Your identification may be requested during the approach;
•
When driving vehicles, park immediately after the police officer’s order. Never accelerate the vehicle, because he will consider his order was not accept.

Obey the determinations of POLÍCIA MILITAR officers. They are there to guarantee your security;
•
POLÍCIA MILITAR’s approach does not aim embarrassment, but your security. Be cooperative! If you are victim of a crime, stay calm and immediately call POLÍCIA MILITAR by dialing 190 (or 911), going directly in a POLÍCIA MILITAR’s vehicle unit, or calling a POLÍCIA MILITAR officer at the streets or in a unit.
