Welcome to the winter edition of the Central Geelong Fun Guide.

This program is your go-to-guide for all activities, events and exhibitions being delivered by Central Geelong businesses and the City of Greater Geelong during the winter school holidays from Saturday 29 June –Sunday 14 July.

Activities are suitable for a range of age groups, from ages 3 - 21. See individual activities for details.

With Epic Taste Experiences

Geelong Kids’ Food Adventure – Join us on a delightful and delicious journey through Geelong with a multicultural twist! Kids will get to sample new foods and open their little taste-buds to exciting flavours on this culinary adventure designed for just for our smallest foodies! All children must be supervised by an adult. Ages 7+

Tiny Seeds Grow into Big Things!

Have you ever wondered how vegetable seedlings grow? Get ready to meet Farmer Nic and special guest Krazy Koala puppet. You might even learn a circus trick or two! Ages 5 - 16 Activity is weather permitting.

Tea Education Workshop for Kids

Join us for an educational journey into the world of tea! Kids will learn about the health benefits of drinking tea, explore different types of tea, and discover the basics of tea processing and manufacturing. Take home exciting kids teas to try! Suitable for ages 7 – 14

Pasta Jewellery Craft

A whole lot of foodtastic pasta fun! Create your own cool-coloured pasta jewellery at our Carousel craft workshop and take home your own ‘pasta de résistance’ to wear! Children must supervised by an adult/guardian. Ages 4+

Custom Pen Pod Workshop @ Wishart

Calling all mini creatives! Join a unique school holiday workshop where you will customize your very own 36-marker pen pod so you can carry your creativity with you wherever you go. Using fabric paint and Posca pens, you will get the chance to create something truly unique! Whilst ideas & inspo will be provided, this is your chance to let your imagination run wild! Anatomy Lessons by Michele Beevore

37,000 hours of knitting over 17 years to bring this breath-taking exhibition to life. Featuring meticulously-sculpted, life size skeletons, from the towering giraffe stretching 4.4 metres in height, to the army of over 50 delicately rendered frogs, this exhibition is monumental in scale.

Our Backyard

Local artist and biologist Dr. Mary Jane Walker takes you on a journey through our latest exhibition Anatomy Lessons. Learn more about these amazing life size sculptures and what endangered species we have in our own Backyard. Finish the session by creating your own sculpture or artwork. Ages 6+

Bush Craft With Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-Operative Celebrate NAIDOC week with the Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative and create a Bunjil artwork with materials from nature. Led by First Nations artist and designer Jasmine-Skye Marinos and the team at Wathaurong Aboriginal Co-operative. Play with feathers, bark, leaves and materials from nature to create a beautiful piece of artwork to take home. Ages 3+

Pure Wonder Soul Studio

The Language of Flowers

Discover that every flower carries a hidden message through its colour, name, and type. This workshop aims to help children understand the emotional connections that flowers have with us and our bodies, fostering a deeper appreciation for nature and self-awareness. Each child will create beautiful art using flowers and an essential oil roller to take home. Afternoon tea provided (please advise of allergies). Ages 7 - 12

Eye Spy Art Adventures – Paper Flowers

To coincide with Cutting Through Time—Cressida Campbell, Margaret Preston, and the Japanese Print, explore the art of floral paper craft in the Gallery’s Learn Space and create your own three-dimensional still life flower arrangement to take home. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Upcycling Old Clothes to New

Give your old clothes a new life! Bring along something you wish to restyle, alter, or reuse, and we’ll explore the possibilities together. No previous experience needed, all sewing abilities are welcome. Bookings are essential to save your place in the program. Ages: Preschool

Through Space and Time

Blast off into this space themed story time. Learn how space exploration has changed through time and then design your own futuristic rocket! Bookings not required. You are welcome to drop in on the day! Ages 4+

Garfield Inspired Pet Painting

Our Earth at MOPA

To help facilitate the important conversations to have with children about our earth, MoPA’s educators have developed a brand new series called “OUR EARTH” with a range of art, craft and mindfulness activities on offer throughout winter.
