Mountain Adrift in grief, he becomes fixated by the idea of hiking up a mountain. But even on the simplest of journeys it can be difficult to find the way back… The man’s journey up the mountain opens precipitously outward, to encompass not just his own voice, but the voice of the mountain, the wind, of a planet crying out for what it’s losing and what it’s already lost. Shifting perspectives from the deeply personal to the epic, this new solo work by writer/director Kit Brookman and performer André Jewson is a determined search for hope amidst utter devastation. Mountain is a hymn to the transformative power of grief, to the wonder of the unknown.

COOK THE DISH & WIN Have you got what it takes to cook one or even both recipes from Central Geelong’s local chefs and cooks? We have been lucky enough to get our hands on a recipe from two fabulous Central Geelong businesses for you to try at home during tastes.
Moqueca - Brazilian Fish Stew Sauce ALMA | 93-95 Ryrie St
INGREDIENTS • 2 Red Capsicums • 4 Shallots • 4 Roma Tomatoes • 250ml Olive Oil • 1 Tin Coconut Milk • 1 Lime • ½ Bunch Coriander • 2 Tablespoons Dende Oil METHOD
20.
1.
Roughly dice the capsicum, shallot and tomatoes and simmer in the olive oil until it forms a thick sauce. Add the can of coconut milk and dende oil and simmer for a further 10 minutes.
2.
Let cool, then add the juice of 1 lime, the coriander roughly chopped and some seasoning to taste.
3.
We use this as the sauce to our crispy skinned barramundi but traditionally this would be more of a stew with seafood cooked in the sauce and served with orange wedges. We have also served this with grilled avocado for a delicious wholesome vegan main meal.
Felix Eggplant Parmigiana
Felix Restaurant Geelong | 9 Downes Ln INGREDIENTS • 1 Large Eggplant • 2 Cups Crushed Tomatoes • 3 Medium Shallots • 3 Cloves Garlic • 1 Long Red Chilli • 100mls White Wine • ½ Bunch Basil • 1 Cup Panko Breadcrumbs • 75g Butter • 100g Parmesan METHOD 1.
Cut eggplant in half and score the flesh of the eggplant making sure you don’t cut through the skin.
2.
In a medium frypan, cook eggplant face down in olive oil until golden brown and set aside.
3.
Slice shallots, garlic and chilli and cook in olive oil until the shallots are translucent. Once ready deglaze with white wine. Reduce the wine until its almost all gone and then add tomatoes and cook on a low temperature for 20 to 30 mins.
4.
Once the tomato sauce is cooked pick 2 to 3 sprigs of basil and place in the sauce and blend.
5.
Take the parmesan and breadcrumbs and the remaining basil and blend together in a food processor.
6.
Put a thick coating of the breadcrumb mixture on top of the eggplant and roast in the oven until golden, serve this on a generous amount of the tomato sauce and garnish with fresh basil and olive oil.
Get Involved Get stuck into a Moqueca from ALMA, or an Eggplant Parmigiana from Felix, and you could win one of two $100 vouchers to one of these businesses. To enter: simply take a photo of your finished product of one or both of the recipes, upload it to Instagram and tag @lovecentralgeelong, the business who’s recipe you’re making, and use the hashtag #tastesofcentralgeelong to go into the draw to win!
