DECEMBER – FEBRUARY 2011/12

“ W elco m e ” It’s my pleasure to present you with the Geelong Regional Library Corporation’s events and programs brochure for December 2011 to February 2012. Public libraries play a vital role in our region enabling all members of the community to engage in lifelong learning and leisure activities. They do this through their committed staff, the provision of print and multimedia collections, online databases and e-books, access to the latest technologies and through a range of programs and events. We place special emphasis on the development of reading literacy and with this in mind, provide a huge range of children’s and youth events. Technology is rapidly changing and we are helping the community keep pace with this by providing free internet access, a range of technology programs, and by introducing a range of new digital equipment and services. This brochure also details some wonderful opportunities to celebrate Christmas, keep school children entertained over the holidays, participate in discussions about books and poetry, and of course our popular Summer reading programs. We hope to see you in our libraries regularly. There is something for everyone. Cr Rod Macdonald Chair

Fun for kids

Babytime Nursery Verses

Preschool Storytime

The early years are a critical time for developing a lifelong love of books and reading. Filled with songs, rhymes and finger plays to stimulate little minds and encourage early language skills, a Babytime session is an early literacy program for babies aged 0-12 months. Sessions run during school terms.

Sharing stories with your child is one of the best ways to encourage early literacy skills and develop a lifelong love of reading. Join us for a fun session of stories, songs and rhymes at your local library. Sessions run during school terms.
