Yesterday afternoon, Farmer Green asked the twins to build him a scarecrow. First, they stuck an old broom in the ground. Then Tom helped Sally to carry over some straw from the haystack near the fence. He used this to stuff the scarecrow’s body, which they made from the farmer’s old clothes. Last of all, Sally placed an old felt hat on it’s head and the scarecrow was ready for the corn-field.
