Job Title Marketing and Graphics Coordinator Description The Marketing and Graphics Coordinator provides tactical support for all manner of marketing department needs: financial and ad schedule tracking, modest copy writing and light graphic design edits (mostly for digital assets and in-house signage), event RSVP tracking and fulfillment as well as grassroots marketing and advertising efforts. The position works closely with the Director of Advertising and Sponsorships in building and maintaining a schedule (financial and calendar) of all advertising assets required for each of the eight season productions plus added special events. The individual also executes any necessary assistance and coordination of Signature Series and other promotional events. This position will serve as the first point of contact for most graphic design requests (print and digital, including Geffen Playhouse’s various websites and other digital assets) and makes other significant contributions to efforts in ticketing, communications, development and other departments in the not-for-profit organization. This individual may be called upon to represent Geffen Playhouse at on-site and off-site events as well as internal and external meetings with vendors and partners. As the majority of this individual’s work is related to marketing graphics, the position will report to the Graphic Design Manager but will also provide crucial information to the Director of Advertising and Sponsorships, Director of Marketing and Communications as well as the Chief Financial Officer. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or higher Proficiency in copy writing and editing (demonstration of proficiency may be required) Basic knowledge of Los Angeles geography and demographics Proficiency in Photoshop and InDesign, Microsoft Word (mail-merge specifically), Microsoft Excel formula/data sorting and web content editing Experience with HTML or content management systems (demonstration of proficiency may be required) Prompt and professional behavior and appearance Strong organizational skills Desired Qualifications One or more years of experience with advertising sales, purchasing or campaign development Proven enthusiasm for the fine arts, especially theater One or more years of database experience in Excel, Access, Sales Force, Donor or CRM software a plus Duties General Advertising: tracking expenses and income attached to elements of each individual production’s advertising plan; initial submission of art and copy requests to graphic designer; tracking progress on ongoing projects; meeting with potential vendors and pricing advertising campaigns to ensure cost savings. Electronic Marketing: work with Graphic Design Manager to produce marketing and advertising graphics; update geffenplayhouse.com, in coordination with Communications Editor, with new events and updated copy/images/video and other content as available; meet with other department liaisons regarding web requests; draft, craft and launch social media messages, monthly email newsletter and pre/post-show emails and related assets under the guidance of Director of Marketing and Communications.
