Job Description: Under the guidance of the literary director, the literary associate is part of a team that assesses plays and recommends them for production. Aspects of this job include overseeing script submissions, maintaining a database of plays, writers and agents and corresponding with all parties including writers, agents, directors, producers and others. In addition, there are opportunities for production dramaturgy that may include time in rehearsal, in depth analysis and critique for each writer and director and the implementation of rewrites in conjunction with an assistant stage manager or script assistant. Essential Duties:               

Reading, evaluating, recommending and responding to play submissions and inquiries Editing content for publication Moderating post-play discussions Assisting the literary director in an administrative capacity including managing and maintaining the daily operations of the literary office Manages inquiries and submissions Assists in tracking productions throughout the world Assists in tracking commissioned plays Helps to coordinate literary support for production Gathers research and may help create content for season announcement Coordinating readers and tracking script coverage Facilitates the training of literary interns and oversees their work Gathers research for production dramaturgy May help facilitate the implementation of rewrites between the playwright and stage management Discussing plays under consideration with the literary director and artistic director Seeing plays, readings and workshops; reporting back to literary staff

Qualifications: 

MFA in Dramaturgy or a minimum of one year of experience in a literary office. Experience may include internships.


   

Candidate must have excellent organizational skills as well as the ability to juggle multiple projects concurrently. Impeccable writing skills Positive, open-minded and diplomatic written/verbal communications style Comfort in public speaking and panel/audience moderation
