Basic Function: To oversee staffing and scheduling of scenic, property, lighting and sound departments and coordinate with Production Manager and Associate Production Manager on the operation of all technical departments to ensure the timely and accurate realization of each of the season’s productions. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:                  

Analyze scenic designs for feasibility and prepare drawings and bid packages for all Geffen productions Provide scenic build estimates and initiate scenic bid process Locate vendors and sub-contractors to supply scenery and related theatrical equipment and supplies and evaluate for quality, dependability, cost and best practices. Oversee all engineering and implementation of designs Schedule set construction, strikes and load-ins following the master calendar established by the Production Manager Determine labor needs for scenic load-in, operation and strike and hire crew for all Geffen productions Supervise load-in, technical rehearsals and strike for all Geffen productions Manage, maintain and operate performance-related systems and equipment. Troubleshoot technical problems as they occur. Manage, maintain and repair production equipment, supplies and stock Be in attendance at all technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals and production meetings in connection with all performances as required. Daily supervision of scenic and technical departments and associated crew and staff Supervise and evaluate scenic and technical over-hire employees Organize and maintain all physical space used by the technical departments on a day to day basis Ongoing responsibility to keep high morale, dedication to high quality and a sense of pride in the forefront of all technical crews and over-hire staff. Oversee the implementation of all capital projects and expenditures in all technical departments Oversee technical use of theaters for rentals and special events Responsible for the health and safety of all aspects of production, including fire code, OSHA and WISHA regulation, union rules etc.

Education/Skills Required: 

BA or equivalent

5-7 years professional experience Knowledge of all aspects of technical production Demonstrated ability in purchasing, drafting, engineering, construction, painting, rigging, electrics and sound The ability to utilize common sense in problem solving techniques The ability to work calmly in a high pressure, fast paced environment The ability to communicate one-on-one and to groups in a professional manner

Special Requirements/Knowledge:    

Flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours Computer literate with a variety of spreadsheet, CAD and word processing software An ongoing interest in theater technology and construction techniques. Strong interpersonal skills
