What the High School Principals would like you to know:
“
Dear Geffen Playhouse Donors, What their principals and teachers
I’m not sure if you realize the magnitude of what would you to know: you’velikehelped create on our campus at Jordan High School. Located in Watts, we are in a neighborhood where schools have been labeled as low-performing for as long as I can remember. The challenges our students and teachers face on a daily basis often feel insurmountable, but we are committed to finding the resources and partnerships to provide a safe, rigorous learning environment for our students.
This is where you and the Geffen come in. Through your generosity, the Geffen has formed a long-term, year-round partnership with Jordan High School. The past two years, our 10th grade students have been introduced to the magical world of theater by attending a full season of plays at the Geffen and having Teaching Artists come to their classrooms for ten different sessions of workshops throughout the school year.
You have no idea how foreign an experience this was for most of our students at the beginning of the year…and how much they grew to love and embrace these sessions and the whole program. Our teachers and administrators have seen a marked change in the students who’ve had the opportunity to participate as these students’imaginations and creativity have been ignited and fueled by what they’ve seen on stage at the Geffen and how they’ve interacted with the artists. Thank
you for making this possible for our students, for bringing them out of Watts, and for giving them a whole new outlook on school, on life and what they’re capable of achieving.

What their teachers would like you to know:
“
This program is an undeniable gift to my students. These are teenagers who are dealing with challenging issues involving race, bullying, sexuality and more that need to be brought out into the light. The plays and the workshops that the Geffen provides back in our classrooms (with wonderful Geffen teaching artists) give the students meaningful opportunities to talk about the issues raised by the plays and that they, too, face every day.
They increase their power to think, communicate, and to make a difference in their own lives and in their communities. Watching them grow and learn through this program gives me a true sense of pride in the work I am doing as an educator.
I am very grateful to be able to work with the Geffen to really
immerse my students in the arts, just as my parents did for me when I was young. Additionally, I know of two seniors this past year who are now pursuing a higher education in theater arts in college, as a result of their experiences with the Geffen.
My extreme gratitude to the Geffen Playhouse donors who make this program and its clear impact on the youth all possible. —Jim Pentecost Teacher, Santee Education Complex

To the Geffen Playhouse Donors & Board,
Your theater has been a very special partner to our organization and to our individual high schools over the past five years. These schools are among the Los Angeles Unified School District’s highest-need schools, and the
Geffen’s dedication to the students on these campuses has been absolutely critical to the transformation we’ve seen over the past five years, both of individual students and of the schools overall. As one of the largest public school turnaround initiatives in the country, the Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is committed to empowering students who live in the highest-poverty neighborhoods of Los Angeles and giving them access to a top-notch education. We believe that creativity and collective action are central to helping these students excel. This is where the Geffen Playhouse has been such a valuable partner and leader at our high schools. We’ve learned from our high school principals how Geffen Playhouse: • Teaching Artists have broken through barriers with the students, helping them feel comfortable speaking in front of their classmates and confident in sharing their perspectives and creative ideas about the plays at the Geffen and the issues raised. • Literacy Coaches have helped students at Mendez High School make significant gains in their writing skills and confidence in writing, through individual and small-group coaching sessions. • Staff and Board members have warmly welcomed our students to the theater for each play, bringing the students out of their comfort zones and opening their minds to new experiences and possibilities that exist outside of their own neighborhoods.
Thank you for investing in our schools, in our students, and for your generosity and commitment to using the power of the arts to transform lives. — Joan Sullivan

The difference your generosity made to the young people and adults served through our
LIGHTS UP Program
Leaders from Holman United Methodist Church attend a LIGHTS UP Meeting at the Geffen Playhouse
Why LIGHTS UP? It’s outrageous that so many young people and adults who would benefit from the opportunity to experience and connect through live theater are completely shut out: • Seniors who fell in love with theater at an earlier age, and had it in their lives for decades, but who have been forced to completely cut it out because they are economically strapped; • Adults who have recently experienced serious medical challenges, such as having a leg or arm amputated, or having reconstructive surgery after a catastrophic war-inflicted injury, or living with HIV/AIDs — all of whom would profoundly benefit from experiencing stories of perseverance, love, acceptance and more; • Young people on the verge of becoming adults, fighting hard for a chance at the American Dream by being the first in their family to attend college, yet who have never been more than a few miles outside of where they live, and who need to feel part of a larger community and to be jet-propelled by the mind-opening experiences theater has to offer.
Thanks to your generosity, thousands of young people, adults and seniors experienced a year’s worth of world-class theater at the Geffen Playhouse.
“
I am one of the recipients of your LIGHTS UP Program. I am 74 years old. Before retirement, I was an Executive at ABC for 24 years. When I moved into Silvercrest Senior Residence in Santa Monica, I had an identity crisis. My world had grown smaller. I was on a fixed income and did not have the luxury of doing the things I was privileged to in prior years, like going to the theatre — one of the greatest joys in my life. I saw A Chorus Line in New York five times. And was a member of the Huntington Hartford Theatre for years before it closed. And so on...
Recently, we had a LIGHTS UP Group gathering at Silvercrest for the play BIG SKY. The meeting was led by one of your creative leaders and it was an amazing experience for all. We discussed the upcoming play and helped us prepare for the theater experience and the finer parts of the play.
Thank you for your generosity in including our senior community, most of whom are on a fixed income, have mobility issues, vision and/or hearing problems, tend to isolate themselves, and many of whom have NEVER even seen a play.
Thank you for the opportunity you have given us. —Antoinette Rio

You must understand that most of our clients live below the poverty level. Without the generosity of your donors to this LIGHTS UP Program, they would not have the means to attend live theater. I hope this program goes on forever!

The girls placed at Maryvale are in desperate need of intensive residential services as well as in desperate need to believe that life offers opportunity and possibility. Removed from their homes, they are wounded from abuse, neglect and abandonment, and often suffer from the effects of numerous failed placements in foster care.
Reading Is Fundamental of Southern California is thankful for the Geffen's dedication to students and community members typically isolated from the arts. For the girls of Maryvale, our mutual hope is that exposure to the creative experience will provide the spark that will ignite into a fire of possibilities — possibilities that can change lives -— much as RIFSoCal encourages children to read to understand the world around them, enjoy the places their imaginations take them while they discover the magic of reading.

The Geffen and your LIGHTS UP Program are an integral part of our community with a vision and purpose that nourishes and cares for the community unlike any other.
It allows the community to maintain a forward moving stance, because opportunities are provided to the least likely individuals, allowing them to keep abreast of what makes a community a community rather than remaining stagnant in its thinking and creativity.
Without the LIGHTS UP Program there is simply no other way that our group participants would be able to experience live theater at the high caliber available at the Geffen Playhouse.
We appreciate the generosity, professionalism, talent and passion generated by the Geffen. Our group always feels welcome and is always treated with respect and dignity. This is rare and not something normally expected or received from many entities.

We wish to thank the Geffen and its wonderful donors for allowing us to experience a season of excellent, thought-provoking entertainment at the Geffen Playhouse.
Although our generation is rarely represented onstage, we find great pleasure in recognizing our former selves in, say, the youthful portrayals of rambunctious musicians in THESE PAPER BULLETS, for example, or identifying with the former lovers reuniting in STAGE KISS, or empathizing with the family torn apart by ambition, alienation and infidelity in BIG SKY.
And even if one can't find personal resonance with the characters or situations being witnessed, these
live productions always challenge us to step back and
find where we stand in relation to them. Opportunities for reflection abound, and that allows us a deeper appreciation of our own personal (and may I add, long) journeys, and, in discussion, how they compare to, and correlate with, each other’s. And by doing so, our Geffen experiences allow us to create
a stronger elder community with a deeper appreciation for the younger generations.
We are truly grateful and hope the program will benefit generations of seniors to come.

I am grateful that I was able to attend the performance of OUTSIDE MULLINGAR. It took me back to another time where family feuds and resentments literally altered the course of lives. Our organization serves a forgotten population: teenage boys without families whose only option is to live in group homes. These kids, usually through no fault of their own, lead sheltered lives and have few experiences outside of their neighborhoods. The goal of our programs is to reward their improved behavior with recreational, cultural and educational programs and teach them how to repeat these pro-social activities on their own with the broader goal of their making positive choices in life.
Although our kids enjoy the theme parks and sporting events we take them to, there is something about a play that truly is transformative for them. It is such a different experience than they have ever had. At the Geffen our kids learn acceptable social behavior and manners. They also engage with people they would never think would want to talk to them. And they learn about all of the jobs associated with theater. So the experience is so much more than the play alone!
I thank your donors for supporting this fantastic program, working with so many deserving non-profit organizations!

Through your generosity, my students have been able to enter a new world that is foreign to them. Yet, once they have attended a play at the Geffen, they emerge with less fear of being an outsider and more of a sense of belonging to the Los Angeles community. They can't stop talking: sharing with each other their thoughts about the play. These discussions build a sense of community and belonging that was lacking for them, despite living in this city for years.
This past year, students were deeply moved by OUTSIDE MULLINGAR. They could relate to the characters' inability to express what is truly in their hearts. Finding the strength to ask for what you want is a big part of becoming a good communicator when English is your second language. BARCELONA put into action many of our lessons in class: dealing with the loss of a loved one, dealing with the effects of terrorism, how the past haunts the present, how our cultural and political beliefs affect our life choices.
My gratitude to the patrons of the Geffen who give so that so many experience the joy of theatergoing. Thank
you for letting my students know via great art that they truly are part of this community, that they belong, that we share common ground emotionally. The Geffen has done its
part in making this a more integrated and culturally diverse city.

What you gave to so many:
JOY The joy • of experiencing first-hand the genius of a playwright or the awe-inspiring performance of an actor; • of experiencing that moment where you forget that you are even at a “play”; • of spending time with artists who want you to get as much as possible out of each play and who care about your responses to each play; • of expanding your mind through new ideas brought up by the play; • of challenging yourself to understand a point of view with which you disagree or had not thought of before; • of laughing; • of being with hundreds of others and going through something together; • of realizing that you are not alone; • of knowing that you are welcome at all times; • of knowing that this is your theater, too.

LIGHTS UP PROGRAM
Geffen Teaching Artist Carolyn Marie Wright at a pre-show workshop with a group of Lights Up Members.
The difference your generosity made to
VETERANS
Thanks to the support and humanity of people like you, a new program was created and launched this past year to give veterans the opportunity to learn how to write and perform their own stories. This group of 15 brave veterans participated in the 4-month long series of Saturday workshops, and then blew away a packed audience when they performed their stories on our Gil Cates Theater Stage — a turning point for all of us.
The story behind their stories: Your generosity this past year helped expand the capacity of the Geffen Playhouse to deliver much greater levels of value, impact and service to veterans and their families. More specifically, your support enabled us to: 1. Hold focus groups with veterans and experts in the field of veterans services to improve our understanding of what veterans need and would like to receive from the Geffen Playhouse. 2. Develop and implement the big idea that came out of the focus groups: a new Writing and Performance program for Veterans. 3. Double the number of veterans and family members served annually, through expanded partnerships with organizations which help identify and support the participation of veterans who will benefit the most from experiencing plays and being part of the Geffen Playhouse family, year-round. Twenty-six leaders attended focus groups that vastly expanded our understanding of how the Geffen can respond most effectively to the needs of veterans. Among those who participated in the focus groups were veterans affairs experts from the USC School of Public Policy, the City of Los Angeles, the Office of Mayor Eric Garcetti, New Directions, Urban Possibilities, and Veterans in Film and Television. The major new insight that came out of the focus groups was the opportunity to help veterans write and perform their stories in a way that: 1. Helps build significant momentum in their lives. 2. Helps turn their stories into assets that can educate and inspire others. 3. Helps build a sense of community among veterans. 4. Helps veterans reintegrate into the community at large. 5. Helps educate diverse audiences, including civilians, about our shared humanity. We hired April Fitzsimmons, a veteran, an accomplished writer and performer, and a warm and thoughtful human being to help us design and lead the new program. The program was designed as a four-month series of writing and performance workshops each Saturday, group attendance at three Geffen plays, and a performance on our Gil Cates Theater stage for the public. The application inviting veterans to participate in the pilot program was given to 12 organizations (leaders of which were coached in how to identify and encourage veterans to participate). More than 50 veterans applied and 15 were selected. They ranged in age from 25 to 75 and represented every branch of the military. Through funding from the Norris Foundation, we were able to offer free tickets to the public to attend their culminating performance. An invitation was circulated via email to 44 organizations with whom we partner and to our list of subscribers and donors. The evening quickly “sold out.” On December 7th, the 15 veterans performed their stories (monologues) on our main stage in front of the live audience. Their performances – singularly and as a group — were, quite simply, stunning.

leader but also to those at the Geffen who recruited her for this project.
What the audience would like you to know:

The courage displayed in both putting these rich, sometimes painful memories and reflections into writing and standing on stage in front of a sold-out house

that they were authentic, real-life experiences performed by Vets blew me away!

The special people behind this project:
“
April Fitzsimmons’ inspired leadership of the Veterans’ Writing & Performance Project was informed by her gifts as an artist, her dedication to supporting the growth of others, and her own life experiences. Currently a staff writer on a network television show, she created and presented a live one-woman show about her experiences in the military, and has taught creative writing to veterans. Her service in the Air Force has made her sensitive to the challenges veterans face as they reintegrate into the community at large, as well as to misconceptions the public often harbors about those who have served in the military. By encouraging project participants to uncover deeply authentic stories and bring them to life through heart-felt performances, she empowers them to educate diverse audiences about their shared humanity. Those with artistic aspirations also grow from accessing April’s expert guidance in writing and performing for the stage.
Our gratitude to April and to our donors for their support of this program is deep. Thank you for making it possible for us to give back to those who have served our country. —Jennifer Zakkai

The Mission Continues . . We are honored to announce a new partnership with The Mission Continues. The Mission Continues is a non-profit organization that empowers veterans who are adjusting to life at home to find purpose through community impact. They deploy veterans on new missions in their communities, so that their actions will inspire future generations to serve. Through this unique model, veterans build new skills and networks that help them successfully reintegrate to life after the military while making long-term, sustainable transformations in communities and inspiring future generations to serve.
This past year, Mission Continues approved our application to be a non-profit partner, and we were thrilled to welcome our first two Fellows: Hermie Castillo and Ramon Garcia. These two outstanding individuals give us 20 hours of service per week for 26 weeks. Hermie has become an integral part of our Education and Community Engagement Programs. As a participant of the Veterans Writing & Performance Project pilot last year, I enjoyed working with April Fitzsimmons and the Geffen staff week-in and week-out, and the Geffen staff granted us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to share our stories with our colleagues and the community. This year, I get to work on staff at the Geffen as a Mission Continues Fellow and help a new group of Veterans who also have amazing stories to share. The
Geffen Playhouse is giving Military Veterans a stage and a platform for us to reach out to the community in a very unique and impactful way, and I hope this program continues for years to come.

I am so proud to be a part of a theater that offers complimentary tickets to Veterans. I recently lost my Grandpa who served in the Marines for 20 years. He fought in Vietnam and had life-long health issues from the chemicals used but he never regretted his service for one minute. (He was very proud of it!) I have seen the sacrifice of the men and women who serve and their families. I am glad to be a part of welcoming these individuals, with open arms, to our theater. I hope that our plays can be a source of inspiration, hope, joy and healing to them as much as they are for me.

Coming to the Geffen Playhouse has enriched my life more than I can express. I can hardly put it into words. I’ve seen every show over the past year and a half, thanks to the Blue Star Program and the generosity of the Geffen Playhouse donors. I remember first learning that the Geffen was a Blue Star Theater last year from an email I received from the American Legion in Hollywood. And I haven’t looked back since. The shows are just the greatest! My hope is that all Veterans will learn about and come to this special theater. There is nothing like it in this world.

Students in September: Gave few or no responses when asked a question about a play. Had little confidence in their own thoughts about a play.
Were uncomfortable about expressing their thoughts about a play in front of the whole class.
Had difficulty focusing in the classroom. Didn’t think they had the capacity to learn how to write well.
Student writing was disorganized.
Student writing was simplistic.
Didn’t think they belonged at the Geffen Playhouse.
By the end of the year:
C
Actively participated in discussions about plays.
C
Responded to questions asking them to offer their own opinions and/or to provide evidence from a play to support their opinions.
C
Actively participated in honest and reflective discussions with their peers.
C
Had the ability to concentrate and focus significantly better.
C
Had new, more accurate insights about themselves and their abilities.

To the Board and Donors of the Geffen Playhouse,
It is an honor to be part of the Geffen Playhouse Literacy Project. Thank you for making it possible for our entire 10th grade class to participate year after year, especially as our student enrollment has more than doubled since the program first began four years ago.
This program is an integral part of the English Language Arts curriculum and a well-known commodity on campus. Our 9th graders cannot wait to enter the 10th grade so they will have their chance to see plays at the Geffen for the first time, work with the Teaching Artists in theater workshops and receive one-on-one coaching sessions with the UCLA Literacy Coaches to help with their writing assignments based on the themes of the plays.
This past school year, over 90% of the 10th graders who participated in the Literacy Project felt that they improved in multiple areas of English Language Arts, including expanding their vocabulary, expressing ideas more clearly, organizing writing and backing up arguments. They also reported being more motivated to learn and collaborating better with classmates. This significant improvement helped students make major gains in other subjects and on standardized testing overall, giving our 10th graders the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed in high school, college and beyond. We have no doubt that the Geffen Playhouse Literacy Project has been essential to this posi-

One student’s perspective:
“
Students in high school, we’re in that phase where we’re like, ‘Ugh, get this (class) over with. I just want to go home.’ I don’t even want to go to college. School has always been something, (not just for me, but for my friends) where we just want to go home.
But having this program opened up my day, and opened me up to school where now it’s not really bad, it’s actually fun, maybe I should get in and enjoy it. Especially with the Geffen’s Teaching Artists. They help us open up, have fun, participate.
It doesn’t just affect you in that one class alone. It affects you in your next class, whether it’s math, English, PE, you just want to talk more, you want to participate. We’re just used to sitting in class, looking at a book and just giving up. You honestly just give up, you want to get the class over with. Having this program push you and make you want to do something,
it’s something different than what we are used to.
Something that breaks our bad habits. This program is a lot different than regular school. In a good way.

What their teachers would like you to know:
“
In their work with Teaching Artists, students have to get out of their seats and use their full bodies to express themselves and communicate. Through their own experience, they come to understand that the skills actors rely on everyday — focus, concentration, listening, speaking, varied expression — are the same set of skills that are needed to be a successful English student and an effective communicator in any environment. The intervention of literacy coaches in the writing process allows students to receive more support and feedback than they would be able to receive in a traditional English classroom. Even those students that don't identify as writers at the beginning of the school year are able to track and reflect on their significant growth by the end.
Thank you to the Geffen Playhouse donors, Board members and patrons for making the Literacy Project possible and for keeping the art onstage alive and relevant for our students.

What their teachers would like you to know:
“
As an educator in the Geffen Literacy Project, I appreciate how my students are nurturing critical literacy skills in reading, writing, speaking and artistic expression.
The plays become our texts that we analyze and use as springboards into units that allow students to examine the world they live in. This is an entirely new experience for most of my students, who have not experienced live plays or the world of theater prior to being in the Literacy Project. For most students, the first time they’ve ever entered a theater is when they arrive at the Geffen Playhouse in September for their first performance of the year. By the end of the school year, they’re seasoned pros!
Students also enter a safe space in class and meet adults — teaching artists and writing coaches — who are just as committed as we are to their confidence and academic success. Teaching
can often be seen as an isolated experience, but my participation in this program has granted me a whole team dedicated to empowering my students. Both my students and I are
appreciative and look forward to our Writers' Workshops, theatre sessions, and upcoming plays.

The Geffen Playhouse Literacy Project amazed me, especially after being a full-time grade school teacher for two years in New York City. I taught at a school with the resources to support its teachers and students and I still, like most teachers, struggled with how to reach each individual student and challenge them at their level.
At the beginning of the year, I had students who could barely write an essay and by the end of the year they were making effective arguments to challenging prompts and structuring their essays brilliantly. The Project did this in ways I have never seen.
I also had students who started the year with essay writing skills almost ready for college and because of the program, they further advanced their writing skills, elevated their thinking, and enriched their arguments.
Beyond serving the students, the program served me, my fellow Literacy Coaches and the classroom teachers. The Geffen’s Jennifer Zakkai made professional development a strong component. We were constantly debriefing — examining what was working and what was not. If anyone had a suggestion for improvement, it was quickly owned by the group and enacted by the next session. UCLA teacher leaders were giving us continuous feedback and recommending the best books and articles. I
have never been in an environment so focused on teamwork and individual improvement. It was incredible and the program had a deeper impact because of it. The Geffen Playhouse Literacy Project is one of the most impressive projects I have ever seen, let alone have the pleasure of being a part of.
I want the donors to
know how much I appreciate them both on the behalf of myself and every single 10th grade student at Mendez. THANK YOU!!!

To all the donors who make the Literacy Project possible, I would like to tell you the story of our most challenging student last year — a student with behavioral and focusing issues. During our initial session, he refused to participate in the first warm-up game. With the second game, he participated slightly, but soon went back to being disengaged. Throughout the year, he would experience breakthroughs then choose not to be involved. In our final post-show session, we were discussing the play STAGE KISS. ‘What was playwright Ruhl’s message about different kinds of love?‘ was the students’ favorite question. They were talking over one another to make their opinions heard. When the group split into girls vs. boys, our student passionately and articulately made his argument, citing evidence in the play about different kinds of love. I told him that his leadership and discussion skills revealed his true capabilities, and suggested that he apply those skills to school, at home and in his

Each day I work at the Geffen Playhouse, I'm grateful and excited to be part of its Front of House team. As a UCLA Theater major, ushering for a first-class regional theater— within walking distance of my apartment, no less—is
a dream come true.
Beyond this, working at the Geffen means I enjoy belonging to a family of passionate, warmhearted artists during, after, and between my shifts. Although I've only been part of its staff for a season, the Geffen Playhouse has actually contributed to my Theater B.A. experience for three and a half years. The opportunities presented by the Geffen have been myriad and plentiful: I've watched invited dress rehearsals with dozens of my classmates; I've attended excellent performances on a budget on College Nights; and I've participated in enlightening master classes provided by the Geffen and its family of artists, like that led by Rainn Wilson when he was in the Geffen’s production of THOM PAIN (BASED ON NOTHING). The
Geffen Playhouse sets a sterling example by giving back to its community and actively fostering the next generation of artists.

I chose to take this course to further my knowledge of theater operations and departments in order to further prepare me for a job in theater management and operations. I believe it is imperative that the Geffen Playhouse continues to offer this course because it is the
only comprehensive course on campus that educates students about all of the departments and jobs that theater has to offer, enlightening students to new opportunities within theater. It’s also one of the only classes that offers networking opportunities with numerous and diverse theater professionals.
I learned so much from this class, specifically: 1) There is so much more to theater employment than just production and performance. 2) The theater functions largely as a massive unit with many moving parts (the different departments), each as vital and unique as the other. 3) Always do what you love and you will find an opportunity or a calling that is uniquely and perfectly just for you.
I would absolutely recommend this course to my friends and fellow students.

As a proud UCLA alum, there's no way I can adequately describe what it means to me to work at the Geffen, an institution I regarded so highly as a student. It is an unbelievable honor to have the opportunity not only to help teach UCLA students about the practical reality of working in professional theater through practicum classes and internships, but also to participate in the season planning discussions that help shape the artistic environment of Westwood. Through our partnership with UCLA, the Geffen makes it possible for theater-loving and theater-curious Bruins to experience world-class plays without even having to leave the neighborhood; through telling bold stories from diverse perspectives, we offer opportunities for these students to expand their viewpoint far beyond their own backyard. The partnership between Pathway at UCLA Extension and the Geffen Playhouse has
opened doors for students with disabilities to learn about the daily operations of a world-class theater. A recent Pathway graduate, Justin, shared that he interviewed for a position working at a local theater in his home town and got the job! While interning at the Geffen Playhouse, Justin had the opportunity to read scripts, enter surveys and assist with Front of House duties. I believe that his internship gave him the confidence and experience to pursue his career in theater. Plus, the mentorship he received by staff members made a huge impact on his life. In addition, our
students got to see plays for the first time and had the opportunity to participate in educational workshops with the Geffen’s amazing Teaching Artists, which was a first for many of our students. A couple of them have since expressed an interest in learning more about the world of theater and the job possibilities that exist.

My summer internship at the Geffen Playhouse was nothing short of incredible. It gave me the opportunity to combine multiple disciplines and passions — theater, youth outreach, and getting more of my peers to see theater. The summer interns did informational interviews with each department at the Geffen, and hearing all about their jobs and the paths they took was illuminating. My classes at UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television don’t always show us the intricacies of a world class professional theater, so this internship was an invaluable experience.
After the summer, the Geffen hired me part-time as an Outreach Assistant. I am continuing the work I started over the summer of building the Geffen’s College Night Program and getting more students to the theater. Since I am so passionate about these efforts, I am incredibly honored to take on this role as the Geffen focuses its audience development on engaging more college students – especially at UCLA.
