As Category Manager for Microsoft SDA/Commercial and Turtle Beach, what are your main ambitions for the next year? The markets for both are constantly evolving but I’m really looking to growing the Turtle Beach business alongside the Xbox One release as they have some awesome new products launching, which should do great over Christmas and the New Year. With Microsoft SDA and Commercial, there are some really cutting edge products available, especially within the new ergonomic range, and I am really looking forward to seeing what we can do with this category going forward. Tell us a fact about yourself that most people won’t know? When I was a kid, I used to have a cow called ‘Liz’. She eventually had to go away to live on a farm in the country with all the other animals… at least that’s what my parents told me.

ssassin's Creed IV: Black Flag has just washed up onto the sandy shores of November 2013. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft’s latest epic cut-throat adventure marks the sixth major installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Set in the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy, players are dropped into an 18th century world of exotic cities, lush tropical jungles and vast open seas of the West Indies. This year’s protagonist is Edward Kenway, a young British pirate captain and member of the Assassin’s Order, who finds himself drawn into an ancient war against the Templars. Kitted out with exciting new weapons, Kenway can effortlessly switch between four flintlock pistols, dual cutlass swords or the hidden Blade of the Assassin’s Order. Kenway also commands his own ship, the Jackdaw, which plays a big part in Black Flag. The Jackdaw allows the player to navigate the seas and rain down cannons fire on enemy ships and ports, plunder towns, and board and capture other vessels and their crew.

Captured foes can also be recruited, to help Kenway keep the Jackdaw shipshape, plunder, pillage, buckle down the hatches, man the crow’s nest and scrub the decks. While plunder found or taken from conquered ships can then be used to upgrade the Jackdaw enabling players to take on tougher opponents. With 3 major cities: Havana, Kingston, and Nassau, and 50 unique locations to discover, the player is free to explore hidden coves and underwater shipwrecks for lost loot, pursue Templars through towns and cities, or hunt for animals and hidden treasure in the thick jungles and ancient ruins. While still including some colourful tales from a real cast of characters from the era, such as Anne Bonny, Blackbeard, Calico Jack, and Charles Vane, Black Flag avoids the obvious pirate clichés and retains a captivating and strong historical setting. Boasting the most expansive single player experience to date, multiplayer has also received a substantial overhaul. Players can select from an all-new set of pirate characters, and explore new land-based locations. There are 6 main game modes: Deathmatch, Wanted, Assassinate, Manhunt, Artifact Assault and
Domination - as well as a cooperative mode called Wolfpack, where a player can team up with friends online and work together to complete a timed based NPC’s hunting story mode. An expressive new element to the multiplayer is the Game Lab feature. This lets the player to tweak over 200 parameters to create their own game-play by selecting abilities, rules, bonuses and more, and then share the results with friends providing endless replay value and a great community experience. The exciting naval combat and refined fundamentals of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag re-establish what’s so special about the series.
