Welcome

Greetings, it's that time of year again—a time we cherish but often take for granted. As we reflect on our 30 years in the cattle business and our 7 years of hosting sales at our home facility, we’re reminded of the priceless moments spent with our families, whether calving, feeding, doctoring, or showing cattle. Our genetics have proven their worth over time, with daughters and bulls making significant contributions to our herd and those of our valued customers. We deeply appreciate the photos and feedback we receive from all of you. As you review this year’s offering and compare it with previous years, we’re excited for you to see the progress. Our time-tested genetics—featuring Gemstone, Sweet Emotion, Sequoia 6026D, Sazerac 251D, Neon Rey, and the influence of Erica Lutton’s daughters—continue to make a significant impact. Expect to see more daughters from these renowned donors, as they are making substantial contributions to our herd and herds across the country.

In our ongoing quest to enhance our herd, we are thrilled to introduce a new gene pool: the Sandeen Donna’s and Sandeen Loaded Lady. We are particularly proud of these additions, as they embody the qualities we aim to emulate. The Donna line, in particular, is known for its deep, soggy middles and impressive dimension, thriving on forage. The consistency of this line is unparalleled, consistently producing highly efficient, productive maternal cattle.

This year, we made a significant investment by purchasing an outcross sire, W/C Satisfied, from Werning’s for $60,000. Lindsey and I thoroughly evaluated hundreds of bulls, and Werning’s is always a key stop for us. We each had our own list, but ultimately, I agreed with Lindsey’s choice of this Right Now son. His dam, a $70,000 acquisition, produced him as her first calf. Described as both massive and elegant with exceptional feet, his assessment is spot on. While we don’t rely solely on EPDs, W/C Satisfied's are notably impressive: he ranks in the top 15% for 4 traits, the top 25% for 9 traits, and all traits are in the top 45%. He is homozygous black, homozygous polled, tight-sheathed, and has a substantial build. Remarkably, he produced semen at just 12 months of age and even collected sexed semen. We’ve bred a large percentage of this offering to him because he meets all the criteria, from calving ease to an impressive 3.87 WDA. We believe he is a must-use sire, and we encourage you to evaluate him—you're likely to be satisfied!

On the family front I slowed down a tick and am engaged to a beautiful woman, Debi Manocchio. She is teaching me to slow down a bit and I am teaching her about cattle. Not sure who’s in the lead right now. She has two beautiful daughters and a son that we welcomed into the family. John and Holly have added to the family tree with Poppy who was born right after last year’s sale in November. Noli, our princess is an A+ student. John’s business is as successful as ever with Holly educating the world. Ryan and Lindsey are two of the hardest working adults I know but I still address them as kids. Hudson is on his way to being a linebacker or a gymnast. He is fearless. Christen Braat, my stepdaughter, who has been instrumental in our success over the years, married her soul mate Jess. I am very proud of them both and wish them success. Mother, Vicki, turned 85 this year, if you want to cut a rug turn on some music!

Our sale is bigger and better than ever! It takes a team to be successful, not saying we don’t have disagreements but in the end we all pull together. Lindsey’s enthusiasm to produce a superior product and organize the team amazes me daily. Scott did another fantastic job managing cattle, breeding all the cattle while balancing his home life with Sara. His two boys Griffin and Gabe might hit me up to be on the payroll. Pat Campbell again our pit crew boss putting the pieces back together and managing the hay fields. Big shout out to Eric Montgomery for helping out in the tough months. Garrett Bosse and Gina Sheets have been instrumental in the show barn and on the road crew. A special thank you to our family and friends who contribute their time and effort both at our events and behind the scenes. Your support means the world to us.

We are always humbled by the interest in our cattle and let us continue in our labor of love. We are always available to help and answer any questions. We thank you for taking the time to evaluate our genetics.

God Bless America, John J. Ferguson

Sandeen Loaded Lady 2625 Family

2 FSCI Loaded Lady M415

When we first saw 2625K, we were astounded by her exceptional center mass and angular design through her front one-third— truly unmatched. Stubborn bidding drove her to a $200,000 valuation. 2625K bred successfully on her first try and produced 12 embryos by Tecumseh. Some of these will soon be on the ground and are expected to be impressive. Genetics are crucial, and GCC Shocker and Loaded Lady bring remarkable consistency to their gene pool. This first-calf heifer by Double Up stands out as a special individual in her own right. She is sleek and modern, maternally oriented with a strong central dimension, a proud and confidently held neck, and effortless movement on solid, dependable feet." Next generation breeding. Sandeen Loaded Lady 2625 - Dam of Lot 2

Sandeen Donna 1316 Family

This will be the first 1316 to be offered on the open market. When I first saw 1316, I was spellbound by her exceptional combination of power and mass with a chiseled, refined neck and shoulder region. She commanded an impressive $130,000 in the open division. As a bred, she is truly a marvel. Maternally, she averages 45 oocytes per aspiration, showcasing her outstanding reproductive capabilities. I believe M386 has the potential to excel in the ring and possesses a remarkable ability to pass on exceptional heritable traits. If you want to be part of an exclusive club, this is your chance. Terms announced sale day.

Sandeen Donna 1316 - Dam of Lot 3

Sandeen Donna 0244 Family

We started investing in the Donna line in 2020. They are our kind of cattle. Their mass and depth are unparalleled. Scott Sandeen calls it capacious and he always makes the comment “It’s hard to breed the middle out of these Donna’s.” I believe him. Donna 0244 was one of the first we invested in with $40,000 for half interest. M381 is smooth and sleek in her design with ample rib and belly as the Donna’s pass on. M381 will show at a high level and not let you down in the donor pen passing on a highly maternal genotype and phenotype.

HPF Sazerac 251D Family

Sazerac 251D is as consistent as you can make a donor. Her opens sell and show well. A Broker sold for $7,000 and a Remedy sold for $10,000. Bulls and breds are always in the $5,000-$12,000 range. We just sold a Fort Knox x 251D that won her class and division at the Ohio State Fair and was named Supreme Champion female at two county fairs. She was slated to sell as a cow/calf pair at the Ohio Beef Expo but sold out of pasture for $11,000 to Michael DeCola. I know this sounds cliché but I believe this one to be her best to date and will show at a high level. Time to get aboard the Sazerac train!

Looks of a show heifer and the pedigree to make a legitimate producer. M251 is a full sib to National Classic Division Champion $10,000 high selling open of the 2022 Rare Vintage Sale. Soft centered, big hipped, and bendy hind legged, this one’s built for the long run. Owned with Garrett Bosse.

It’s no secret we like the Alley 247Y genetics. WHF/PRS/HPF Alley 247Y was herself a $81,000 choice lot at the Hudson Pines Dispersal Sale when red wasn’t cool. Alley’s have always brought a high premium for us from $7,500 to $18,000 in OKC. Make no mistake this Bet On Red will show at a high level and pass on her dominate traits.

XX Family Show Heifer Prospects

Lot 10: M370 is certainly an anomaly! She presents herself as a show heifer deluxe with a cocky up headed profile, loose jointed, and great bone work. When you get around to her EPD’s she is in the top 1% in WW & YW, top 2% ADG & CW, top 4% on TI and has 8 other traits in the top 15%! Doesn’t hurt having a gene pool that includes IR Ms Geneva X200, Miss Sugar C4, and KCC1 Countertime 872H. Do your homework, we did.

Lot 9: This Alley is a little greener and didn’t have the best recip. You can’t put a prettier front end on one. A little time and patience and you will look smart buying these genetics. See her sale day!

FSC Ericas Lutton Family

D006 is a remarkable cow by Erica Lutton 54S who truly put us on the map. 54S has significantly contributed to many herds, with numerous daughters making their mark. This 20-20 was a favorite among visitors and the crew alike. Her sweeping belly line captivated attention, while her long hip and feminine front third gained deep appreciation. Show to win and breed for the revenue. Time to get your hand up.

A full sib to the infamous donation heifer, FSCI Ms Emotion K713, owned by Missing Rail Simmentals. Some highlights of accomplishments for FSCI Ms Emotion K713 (full sib to 12K) include Champion Simmental Female at the OJSA Memorial Day Classic, Division Two Third Overall Owned Purebred Simmental Female at the AJSA Eastern Regional, Reserve Champion Simmental Female at the Ohio State Fair Open Simmental Show, and Champion Division Four Female KILE Purebred Simmental Open and Junior Shows, 5th Overall Purebred Simmental Pair at the 2024 AJSA National Classic, and Reserve Champion Simmental Pair at the 2024 Ohio State Fair. Sleek lines with a skinny neck that comes out high on a smooth shoulder with exceptional bone work on four big feet that all point the same direction. We lost D673 so this will probably be the last time we will offer a herd building female of this caliber.

CAJS Sweet Emotion 42Z Family

Lot 15: Sweet Emotion has been nothing but stellar for us and other breeders. Passing on mass, power, and performance. Producing AI Sires such as SFI Savage and SFI Brigade and numerous high dollar donors. The real mark of an Elite Donor is daughters and sons producing elite progeny. To date there are 57 progenies with more on the way. 638K is an identical version of Sweet Emotion but with a more moderate frame score. She has maintained this mass from day one. We think her being bred to Holtkamp Change is Coming should be deadly.

Lot 14: We finally tried an Angus sire on Sweet Emotion and boy do we like what we see. Style softened her up, moved her neck attachment up a little, while keeping that internal dimension and bone work. A calf by Epic will be a valuable asset.

TNGL A Gemstone A527 - Dam of Lots 16 & 17 Maternal Granddam of Lots 18-21

Lindsey’s pick early on and she proved right. A full sib black baldy brought $22,000 and after the sale another full sib brought $10,000. Another gem from Gemstone. K284 has been one of the most talked about females on social media. I mean a good red baldy will catch anyone’s attention even if you don’t like the reds. Her presence with her rocket front, deep sided, massive foot demands respect. Bred to the fresh new outcross herd sire W/C Satisfied 161L.

TNGL AGemstone A527 Family

Lot 17: The legacy of Gemstone sired by a National Champion bull. Big hipped, smooth shouldered, and plenty of bone make this a wise decision. An Executive Order calf by Gemstone brought $15,000.

Lot 18: From the Gemstone lineage, Ms Gemstone F028 is an absolute whale of a cow. Gemstone x 20-20’s have sold for $7,500 and $20,000 for half interest. Fort Knox’s mass coupled with Gemstones power makes K265 a top pick.

TNGL AGemstone A527 Family

Shown as the Calf

Another great from the Gemstone tribe. H049 sold half interest for $20,000. Her first calf by PVF Insight took top honors winning her class as a calf at Junior Nationals. A medium framed, softer, smoother Gemstone bred up early for a big pay day to Double Up.

FSCI Ms Gemstone H049 - Dam of Lots 19 & 20

Out of the $40,000 valuation Gemstone H049. Exceptional donors make exceptional daughters that continue to make great cattle time tested and stamped. K253 is long hipped, deep bellied, big ribbed and sound. She’s very quiet and easy to be around. Good property.

TNGL AGemstone A527 Family

Gemstone C516 was Gemstone’s first calf. We have been stingy with her offspring but parted with an Executive Order daughter that went to Canada in December for $7,000. This Bet On Red is the best one yet and sorts herself easily to the top of her contemporaries. Make the time to see this one in person.

Lot 22

Lot 22: We love our Miss Werning 990G donor. Outcross genetics that will work. 990G flushes well, milks well, and has a great disposition. Last year an open by SAM sold to Sandeen’s for $20,000. This bred is exemplary of her traits. This female was halter broke as a weanling and has a kind disposition to be around.

Lot 23: Another one out of our beloved 990G donor. Scott Sandeen bought a full sib to K290 last year for $20,000. K290 possesses the same qualities perhaps in a more moderate frame score. SAMs are HOT! This female is so quiet the kids can feed her out of their hands in the pasture.

We can’t keep Broker females in stock—they’re in such high demand. Pairing them with the esteemed matriarch Sazerac 251D promises long-term success. The breeding of K255 to Executive Order has already proven its worth, as demonstrated by our former cover girl, FSCI Giesha G911.

FSC Ericas Lutton Family

We sold FSC2 Bella 54Z2 in Denver to Efflings. Bella has enriched the Effling herd substantially in their Production sales and along the way calved the Denver Grand Champion Percentage Bull sired by Broker. Lindsey and I travelled to their production sale and purchased Ms Profit 9729G. K233 is a beast of a cow. If you’re looking for a red donor then saddle up. She will take you places. Loverboy has a red gene!

FSC Ericas Lutton Family

Lot 28: A brockle faced Erica and in true fashion they are moderate and good looking. If you have been following our genetics the Erica line has been bred up from Angus to Purebred Simmental. The Erica’s give you the look and softness with excellent milk and teat size and the Simmental adds power and bone. We have done the work so you can capitalize with a purebred calf.

Lot 27: When driving through the pasture Lindsey always points out “there’s your Erica G923 cow.” I just think she is a model cow. Moderate, easy doing, plenty of rib and belly, and as feminine as you could make one. Probably helps that she goes back to the 54S Lutton donor we had so much success with. FSCI Neons Regard C505 - Dam of Lots 38 & 39

This bougee girl will make bank and quick. If you’re serious about being in the cattle business, you need to step up or risk getting left behind. We fell in love with Neon Rey way back. We had the opportunity to purchase her in Denver and brought her home. She possesses outcross genetics with the mass and power that we strive for, but what set her apart for us was the unbelievable flex on her back wheels. A flush from Yardley High Regard produced C505. A purebred package that mimicked Neon Rey. We sold half in Denver to H2O cattle for $38,000. A freak accident took her down and believe me that was a hard phone call to make. Call TransOva and schedule this one for April. Owned with H2O.

So, I’m sure you read about the 119K maternal sister out of C505. If you told me you liked this one better I couldn’t disagree. They’re both going to move your program to the next level. I can’t wait to see who ends up with these! We believe both of these females are donor prospects. We are interested to hear your evaluation. Owned with H2O.

Ruby AJE Firefly Z227 Family

These Firefly cattle have always made it to the top of the sale. Last year we sold choice of two sired by Fort Knox. Nathan Link bought one for $12,000 and we retained the other. They were both excellent females and we were thrilled to retain one. This Bankroll should have been shown. She is trophy wife status and will surely end up in a donor pen somewhere.

AJE Firefly Z227 - Dam of Lot 40 & Granddam of Lot 41

Ruby AJE Firefly Z227 Family

Lot 42: Don’t underestimate 181K. With the price of TransOva recip coming in at $3,950 and sale barn prices being where they are, this might be just the female you’re needing to make some quick cash. With Satisfied having 9 EPD’s in the top 20% it might be a fair assumption to say that calf will get up and grow in a hurry!

Lot 41: Our friends at Cottrill Cattle bought a sweet Firefly x Bankroll bred to Loverboy. A chance came up for us to purchase the halter broke calf knowing she would make the cut for the Rare Vintage Production Sale. Clean straight lines, a good lower third, squeaky clean front end, and a baldy to boot. Time tested genetics.

Lot 41

W/C Miss Werning 6026D Family

Moderate-framed and strikingly attractive, she’s already a standout, but there’s even more to the story! With a star-studded pedigree including Sequoia Y770, 6026D, Bullseye, and Countertime, this one is sure to be a hit. We were so impressed with 6026D that we bought her twice—once for $40,000 and again for $36,000. Additionally, we recently sold L307’s

Lot 44

Lot 44: If you haven’t noticed, we have bought into the Sequoia tribe on many occasions. Lindsey, Garrett, and I are partners on this one. Powers in the blood on this fancy fronted lady. Bred up early to Executive Order for early success!

Lot 45: An exceptional High Voltage Dam. K285 sure has the expressive front end that Fort Knox stamps them with. It’s hard to find any major holes in this one, a whole lot of good here. Solid genetics.

Profit - Sire of Lots 46 & 46A

Lots 46 & 46A: I believed Rose 439Z was a model cow, and Nick Dwyer shared that view, as he would always comment, “What are you going to do with her?” Blending some older genetics from a Coleman Polly 439 and our herd sire W/C Catchin A Dream, produced one of the most striking females in the pasture. We lost her due to a freak accident calving. Luckily, we flushed her to profit and got 198K and 209K. I don’t think there is a nickels worth of difference. Don’t worry you can’t choose the wrong one. Donor prospects.

These Donna cattle are special. I am sure a bunch of you have noticed we have been buying in on the Sandeen Donna Genetics and for good reason. We purchased Donna 8386 embryos a few years back that produced the Feona F836. Her first calf by Grand Fortune garnered $12,500 to Brad Tobey. We doubled down with Lock N Load as Scott puts it. This one is sound, functional, and extremely capacious through the center portion of her body. Yes, she has a spot of white but a blind man in a dark theatre could find this one in seconds. This one will have friends. Lot 47

Lot 48

Lot 48: 185K is out of the Miss Werning 863F, the $21,000 selection in 2020. All her calves have sold for a high premium. A broker bull we liked sold for $7,500 to Brad Wiseman. This Remedy heifer is her absolute best and you should give this one careful consideration. These Woodford calves are something special. Winner winner chicken dinner!

Lot 49: 203K goes back to the Coleman Dixie Erica tribe known for breeding mass into your program. Elite front pasture genetics. Still not sure why this one is leaving. Smart breeders will find this one and leave with her. Bred to Bet On Red, OH MY!

Expressive, mass, dimension, and power. Sweet Pea always brings a high premium prospect to the Rare Vintage. This is one of her finest, bred up early to Epic. Look for something special here.

Maternal Sister to Lot 50 - Sold in the 2023 Rare Vintage Sale Owned by the Hanft Family

Lot 52: Driver cows are powerful all the while his semen still commands top dollar. The 0335C cow always brings the goods. At the ’22 Rare Vintage Sale, Blaine Behnken bought a maternal brother by Fort Knox for $5,000. Might be getting repetitive here but it’s a fact, this female is big topped, big middle and square hipped. Solid genetics. Time tested.

Lot 51: The Calista cow has so much internal dimension and depth that she’s easy to find. K223 has a tick more power while still keeping that soft big bellied look. Outcross genetics with good numbers. If you’re looking for Gina she is most likely petting this one in the pasture.

Calista K223

FSCI Ms Personality B421 Family

If this Barbie doll bred doesn’t bring you up to the front row you need to clean your glasses. We doubled down with Lock N Load. The Personality cow (B421) doesn’t miss. Nothing out of B421 has sold for less than $7,000. Werning, Sloup and Kearn each have their own, now so can you!

FSCI Jefferson F821 - Sire of Lot 53

Lot 54

Lot 54: WOWZA this one hits you hard! She goes back to the original Ellie cow that has been so successful for top breeders, producing many National Champions in the Angus Division. Make purebreds that look like this and experience the winner’s circle!

Lot 55: True to Pandemic. This girl has got a front end to die for. Moderate framed and ultra feminine. She’s a looker! 6026D was flushed at 605 Sires along with a group of Werning Donors. As you can see, she’s black. RED donor x RED bull? DNA says she is a Pandemic and not a 6026D. Sold as a half blood.

Unlock Genetic Progress

We look forward to welcoming you to Jefferson, Ohio for the 7th Annual Rare Vintage Sale at Ferguson Cattle Company. John, Lindsey and the entire staff at Ferguson Cattle are committed to providing their customer base with a second-to-none experience in selecting your next addition to your program. The quality, breeding, and careful selection behind these lots is outstanding, and I firmly believe as you explore this offering, you'll see that each lot has the potential to enhance genetic progress in your herd for generations to come.

The beef business is sitting in a strong position. We are currently looking at the lowest cow herd numbers since the 1970s and demand for a quality product has never been this strong. As you look throughout this offering I feel the Ferguson Cattle offering will suite a wide variety of operations, regardless of your goals within this industry. As sale day approaches please take the time to contact John, Lindsey, or any member of the sales staff to help in your selection process. I truly feel each lot within this book can move a program forward, no matter your goals and objectives. Our goal is to always provide each customer with the cattle and genetics that best suit their own goals and thus we look forward to talking with each of you to help you secure the female best suited for your own objective in this industry.

Over the years John and Lindsey have stayed diligent in securing top-level donor females to continue the genetic progression within this program. Females are selected with an emphasis on generational cow power, with a heavy emphasis on maternal traits. As you can see looking through the donor arsenal power, body, structure, and a three-dimensional look is always at the forefront of the thought process at Ferguson Cattle. By focusing heavily on the donor base Ferguson Cattle can provide each of you with a high-quality product to move your program to the next level.

We would like to thank everyone who has helped us over the years purchasing cattle from our program and using those purchases to further develop their own cow herds. The reports from the past years have been remarkable and we are so happy to have been able to provide so many customers with a quality product. As with years past we look forward to staying in contact with each of our buyers as this feedback loop helps us to provide each of you with a better and better product each season.

As we continue to move closer to sale weekend, we hope each of you can find time to come out and view this set in person. If your travels bring you in the area in the coming weeks you can always stop in and view this sale offering prior to sale weekend. As always sale weekend will provide a fun family atmosphere to enjoy looking over the sale offering with plenty of activities for the kids, along with plenty of food and refreshments for the adults. For those who simply cannot make the trip, we will have complete sale videos available at CCI.Live, and we would be more than happy to give you an honest opinion of the lots being offered.

We look forward to welcoming each of you to Jefferson, Ohio for a great weekend!
