BEGINNING THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2018 9 AM with bid-off at 10 AM at the ranch Definition of Moser Ranch Private Treaty Bull Sale Private Treaty Cattle Sales are sales in which the owner negotiates directly with the prospective buyer. Over the course of this past year, since we made the decision to sell our bulls via private treaty, several customers have expressed an interest in being able to bid more than the base price of any bull, in the event that more than one party is interested in a bull they have chosen. For that reason, our intent to have a simple bid off is being implemented in 2018. We set a price on each lot which is listed here in the catalog. The sale will begin at 9AM. Any bulls with interest from more than one potential buyer will be bid off in a small, low-key, straight forward process at 10AM, with only the interested buyers involved, either in person, or on the phone.
Examples 1. Bulls having more than one prospective buyer as of 10AM, Thursday, November 1: a. i.e. Lot 4 is the first bull listed in the catalog that has more than one potential buyer, we will negotiate with only those buyers who have expressed interest in Lot 4 by holding a small, private “bid off” at 10AM, to determine the final selling price. The same process will happen for any other bulls (in numerical order throughout the offering) that have more than more than one interested buyer. This will be a low-key, straight forward process. b. Again, if you are interested in a particular bull or and cannot be at the sale by 10AM, PLEASE call us and we will do our best to fulfill your request(s). 2. Bulls having only one prospective buyer at 10AM, Thursday, November 1: a. i.e. Lot 2 only has one interested buyer at 10AM, Lot 2 goes to that buyer. b. After initial “bid offs” have been completed on November 1st, bulls will sell on a first come, first serve basis. Mail or Phone Bids If you are interested a particular bull or bulls and cannot be at the sale by 10AM, PLEASE call us and we will do our best to fulfill your request(s). As in all past 26 years, buyers unable to attend the sale are invited to send their bids directly to us. Discrete handling is guaranteed. AFTER INITIAL SALE DATE ON NOVEMBER 1ST, MOSER RANCH WOULD LIKE TO REFRAIN FROM SUNDAY SALES.
5% Repeat/Loyal Buyer Discount (since 2006)
PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF ELIGIBILITY DATES SINCE WE HAVE GONE TO A PRIVATE TREATY SALE To reward loyal bull customers, we are pleased to continue our “Repeat Buyer Discount” this year. If you purchased a bull or bulls at our November 11, 2017 sale, or if you use only Moser Ranch bulls in your operation, you will receive 5% off your total purchase for any bulls bought BETWEEN THE DATES OF THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST through SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD. Buy your bulls during the first three days of our private treaty sale to take advantage of the 5% discount. This is a continuous credit policy which is in effect each year. The 5% discount is determined after all credits have been subtracted from the gross purchase price. Again, the 5% discount will apply ONLY to bull purchases made BETWEEN THE DATES THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 1ST through SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD.

Dear Friends,
Welcome
Welcome to our offering of the 27th set of bulls we have raised for your inspection and consideration. Thank you for taking time to look through them on paper, and if you wish, view them on our website, www.moserranch.com This fall, we are streamlining even more the way in which we market our genetics. You can read more about our private treaty method here on these initial pages. And, instead of the 100+ bulls we have marketed in years past, we are offering you our top 65. You have the opportunity to evaluate the “best of our best” genetics for the 27th year in a row. We did not come to the decision to decrease numbers casually. Time marches on, and life carries on. Passion for one’s life work is a blessing. We have considered ourselves blessed over the years to have developed working relationships and friendships with many of you reading this note. To those of you we’ve not met, please know you are welcome at any time to explore who we are and what we do by way of our website: www.moserranch.com or Facebook, or better yet, come to the ranch for a visit. We’ll show you the sale bulls, talk about the goals you have in your operation, and ways that we can help you achieve them. A little on the offering-we have never chased fads or extremes. We have tried to optimize traits and not maximize them. Extreme growth fosters bigger calves at birth along with larger mature cow size. Extreme calving ease can cause loss of growth. Excessive milk can cause fertility and fleshing ability problems. As our promotion line says, our genetics focus on calving ease, performance, maternal, feedlot and end-product strength. We are making genetics that will work for the beef industry. That’s why we’ve been in it for 27 years. Thank you for taking the time to evaluate our “Top 65.” We are pleased with them and think you will be as well. Sincerely, Harry and Lisa Moser Cameron & Carrie, Scarlet, Thane & Maive Moser
Here we are this past March with our “adopted” son Thomas Macfarlane and his wife, Samantha, at their deer stud farm on the South Island of New Zealand. Healthy baby Jack Webster Macfarlane was born on June 30th. Family is everything.

About the Bulls Selling
Bull Information in our Catalog
There is no “sale order.” Listing in the catalog is based completely by Sire groups and age of each bull within each sire group.
Herd Health Our herd veterinarians are Dr. Ann Buchanan and Dr. Randall Hobrock. All bulls have been tested for BVD PI, Trichomoniasis and Leukosis.
Semen Testing All bulls were semen tested on October 23rd. For bulls not working until Spring 2019, a re-check is recommended at that time.
Retained Semen Interest Moser Ranch is retaining a 1/3 semen interest in all bulls in the offering.
Our Unique Approach to Bull Development Fall bulls were weaned this past April. They summered on a section of native grass. Spring bulls were weaned last October, then wintered on a growing ration, and spent the summer in the same section of grass with the fall yearlings. For presale development, all bulls have run in an 80-acre native pasture and been fed a ration consisting of corn silage, ground grass hay, wet distillers, cracked corn and a base mineral and vitamin premix. WE FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT “RANGE DEVELOPING” OUR BULLS AND NOT PUSHING THEM HARD ON TEST allows them to express their genetics on a more realistic level, stay more structurally sound, and
they are presented to you at sale time in “breeding appropriate” condition scores. Please remember that these bulls are still growing and will continue to do so for at least the next year to year and a half. Until breeding season, they need to stay on a similar plane of nutrition, 5-7# of grain in addition to silage or hay.
Winter Bull Care (since 2006) If you do not wish to take your bull(s) at this time, we offer the following care option: We will feed any purchase free of charge until December 1, 2018. From December 1, 2018 through April 1, 2019, we will feed bulls for $375.00/head. This fee includes normal care and feeding and a spring semen test. Any out of the ordinary expenses (vet, medications, etc.) will be the responsibility of the owner. After April 1, 2018, a charge of $3.50/head/day will be incurred. The $375.00 will be charged at settlement. Bulls will be cared for as they have been during the development phase. SELLER WILL ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR INJURY OR DEATH OF ANIMAL(S). Insurance is readily available; please consider this option for your genetic investment.
Delivery Moser Ranch will pick up the first $250/head on transportation expenses on bulls selling for $5,000 or greater. We will assist buyers in making the most economical trucking arrangements for other bulls. Transportation is at buyer’s expense; please insure your purchases.

In Memory
To the two people who gave me life and loved me with all their hearts. Paul and Eleanor Skoch November 18, 1927 – May 23, 2003 October 30, 1930 -January 26, 2018
Years ago, I put a small tribute in our catalog to my dad after he passed away that May morning back in 2003. Ours was a very special relationship, and I feel his presence every time I am outside, whether I’m doing cattle work, or helping on the farming side moving equipment during planting or harvest. When I put on his chore coat during the cold, blustery days, I know I am wrapped in his arms. On January 26 of this year, my mom went to be with her soulmate. Dad was her lifelong love (they celebrated 53 years together the month before he died), her partner in raising seven healthy farm kids and laying an eighth one to rest in 1954 when my sister Mary was stillborn at full term. They were faithful church partners, teaching religion and making sure we all got to mass every Sunday, and instilling in all of us the importance of our faith. They were farming partners. Mom could drive harvest truck with the best, traveling 30 miles one-way with a 2-ton truck from our “Lillis farm” back to our home near St. Benedict, unload the milo into the elevator system dad had built, then head back to Lillis. When she got back, dad would have the other truck full, and mom would make the trip again. If the crop was especially good, and dad would have the truck full before she returned, he would take off and they would meet somewhere in the middle. She would turn out the sows morning and evening at farrowing time, help load cattle, take care of baby chicks and the laying hens, whatever it took to make the farm go. She fed her family (my all-time favorites were her homemade cinnamon rolls, lasagna and fried chicken; Harry’s was her strawberry preserves), did mountains of laundry, cleaned hundreds of chickens every summer, had a garden the size of a football field that all seven of us kids and her and dad worked in, and when we girls were old enough, she took a job as a waitress at a local steakhouse. She loved the socialization, and from what I remember, she was very well liked not only by the steakhouse owner and his family, but also by all the customers she served. All four of us girls followed in her footsteps and worked there during our high school years. She taught us about

life “off the farm” in this way; answering to someone else, promptness by arriving at work on time, putting our best into our six-hour work shift, and the value of earning money to put away for college or maybe once in a while, spending some on something we really wanted. Being a cooking leader in 4-H, she tried her best to teach me to cook, but I didn’t listen very well during those formative years! As the years went by and “retirement” kind of happened, her pastime was embroidery. Grandchildren (there were 21) received a pair of hand embroidered pillow cases for their weddings; the embroidery lovingly done by mom, and the crocheted edging completed by dad. Mom missed dad every day of her life after he passed away, but she was in no hurry to leave, because she might miss something here on “this side.” She enjoyed her grandchildren immensely. We used to bring her down to our place, so she could watch us bale hay, work calves, feed bulls, watch harvest and just spend time with Harry and me and Cameron, Kendra and Kayla. Those memories will be with us forever. During the last three months of her life, she became very peaceful, a state which honestly had eluded her much of her lifetime. I was so very glad to be at her side when she took her last breath early the morning of January 26th. My tears were tears of happiness, that after nearly 15 years, she was in dad’s arms again. I miss you, mom, but know God called you back to Him after 87 years. Rest in eternal peace. Love you, Lisa

Top 5 Veterans Day Facts 1. Veterans Day is observed every year on November 11th. 2. Veterans Day is observed to honor all veterans, both those living and those who are not living. 3. A Veteran is a man or woman who has served his/her country as a member of the armed forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard or Marine Corps). 4. Armistice means cessation of hostilities or to stop fighting. On November 11, 1918, an armistice was agreed to between Germany and the Allied Forces led by the United States. This was the end of World War I. 5. In 1954, Congress passed the legislation to replace the word Armistice for Veterans and officially honor all veterans on Veterans Day.
The mystic cords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart... should swell into a mighty chorus of remembrance, gratitude and rededication on this solemn occasion. - Abraham Lincoln Thank you Veterans for your service, from all of us at Moser Ranch ANNUAL BULL SALE | 9
