• Giwyn, the coalition for reproductive justice and the empath alliance network join our partners , allies, reproductive health and funders , around the world to support September 28th International Safe Abortion Day
In solidarity with the SRHR organizations in Africa and around the world, Giwyn and team join in commemorating September 28th the International Safe Abortion’s Day. In this year’s campaign we are stating that : Several actors are key to producing the necessary changes regarding abortion laws
Policies that can empower women, respect their human rights, and promote their health can be implemented.
Policymakers can help prevent unnecessary harm to women’s health and lives, while also pushing for necessary legal and policy reforms by:
Setting up a national network of legal abortion services, currently secured under the law, in cases where the pregnancy endangers the life of the woman, including adolescents
Minimizing administrative requirements for legal abortion and establish clear national protocols for health care providers, including the prohibition of refusing services based on claims of conscience
Supporting campaigns that raise awareness on where and how to obtain contraception, emergency contraception, safe abortion, and post abortion information and services
Supporting campaigns that raise awareness about the harmful impact of restrictions on abortion provision
Creating programs that expand and promote family planning programs, and comprehensive sexuality education for all adolescents and young people.
