Specialist Products

2

We have developed a range of specialist niche geosynthetic products. These products have been used over many years in a range of construction applications. The products of interest are –  Drainmat® – a specialist drainage product (us e d in b ridg e

ab utme nts e tc )

 Grassroots® – a specialist erosion control blanket  Flotation curtains™ – to control sediment movement in waterways  Fabrication services – to assist contractors in difficult installations

3

Drainmat® is a flexible multi-purpose geosynthetic drainage medium with a high compressive strength designed for vertical drainage applications behind hard structures such as retaining walls. Drainmat® provides effective drainage behind buildings and structures which is essential to provide long term stability by reducing hydrostatic pressure build up which would either allow pressure build up behind the structure or encouraging moisture ingress into the structure. Drainmat® consists of two layers: Core Layer – which is made of heavy-duty polypropylene fibres which allow the free flow of water in all directions, under compressive loads; Filtration Layer – which is a polyester and polypropylene fibre geotextile to prevent the migration of water-borne soil particles into the core layer.

4

Drainmat® is used in a variety of sub-surface drainage applications, including –  behind retaining walls or bridge abutments  in culvert systems  in major earthworks projects By placing Drainmat® against your buried structure (o r w ithin yo ur s ys te m ), the groundwater is drained away, thereby reducing the hydro-static pressure on the structure (o r w ithin the s ys te m).

Grassroots® is a permanent, synthetic erosion control or landscaping blanket. Grassroots® has been developed in a green-brown colour to provide the appearance of a naturally grassed embankment or channel. Grassroots® is used in a variety of applications, including as –  an erosion control blanket in road-side drainage swales  a landscaping blanket where vegetation either will take time to establish or may never grow  along the edges of ponds or creeks to minimise erosion.

7

Grassroots速 has a surface that allows capture of sediment and seeds, thereby encouraging growth of grasses etc. The root systems from the vegetation can attach themselves to the structure of the Grassroots速 blanket, thereby increasing the resistance of the vegetation to any forces that try to pull the vegetation away (e .g . w ate r flo w ).

Flotation Curtains™ are used in waterways to control the movement of sediment from adjacent construction projects. This minimizes the environmental impact of the construction project on the ecosystem (e .g . animals , p lant life , e tc ) or community use of the waterway.

10

We offer a range of Flotation Curtains™, where the following characteristics are taken into account – 

the robustness – where a simple, low-end system can be used in still waters (e .g . lake s ) whereas a dynamic system (e .g . b ays o r c o as tal ap p lic atio ns ) require a more robust system.

dimensions – where the length and depth of the system is considered.

durability – where the required life of the system is considered.

environmental performance – where the degree of sediment control is considered.

pricing – where a system can be designed to fit within budget constraints.

12

We have worked with designers and builders to develop innovative deployment or installation techniques. On a series of major projects, we have delivered fabricated geotextile panels, constructed to suit project constraints.

13

We fabricate the panels in our dedicated fabrication area, with large areas available to roll out the geotextile and stitch (in factory controlled conditions) to obtain the required performance characteristics. The fabricated panels are then packaged to ensure easy deployment.

14

The seaming of the geotextile panels is critical, for seam failure during installation leads to major difficulties in the installation process. The strength of the seam between adjacent panels needs to be tested during the fabrication process to ensure compliance with project specifications.
