Wilko Toy Project // The Brief To design an innovative, gender neutral educational toy suitable to be sold in a Wilko Store. The concept should consider physical, cognitive or emotional development of a child aged 1 month to 1 year. A child of that age will be looking to learn tactile and sensory development, crawling, sitting and understanding textures.

Features
It is made out of 100% pure natural rubber and is painted with non-toxic food grade paint and is therefore safe for children to chew, bite and play with.
Products on the market currently allow children to develop tactile and sensory sensors, however they donĘźt teach the child anything. By using animals this product also has a fun education purpose as well.
The design include four animals a giraffe, a cow, a chicken and a hedgehog. On each of these animals there are different textures to aid sensory and tactile development.

StarPack // The Brief The brief was to create an innovative and flexible solution to the containment of disaster aid products that delivers protection and preservation as well as security and durability. It was to design a flexible, durable packaging solution for containing a selection of survival items necessary for immediate use in disaster zones and situations. We could choose either basic food items or basic medical products. The items within must be the essentials that victims would require in the first few days following a disaster situation.

Features
This product is made out of UHMWPE due to it tough and strong characteristics, it is currently the strongest thermoplastic presently made. Such characteristics allow this material to withstand very harsh environments like those found in disaster situations.
Current products donĘźt allow any form of water purification and as such have to supply rations to do so. This takes up valuable space within the box which could be used for bigger items like tents or tools. At the moment current products are quite literally just robust boxes.
The design includes a water purification system in the lid, which when turned upside down the inside of the container can be filled with stagnant water and then travel down through the purification system in the lid and out through the tap allowing the user to have clean safe drinking water.

Disaster Relief
Disaster relief container which provides a water purification system and survival items
Rega Speaker // The Brief The brief was to design a portable concrete speaker for Rega that could potentially be viably produced in small-medium sized batches. The speaker must be no larger than 150mm3 in volume. The final design should show understanding of all materials used and all design decisions should be backed up by research into materials and manufacturing, relative to the outcome. Whilst the majority of the product must consist of concrete, you may use other materials in moderation.

The whole project was centred on concrete and therefore we made the speaker out of concrete we formed. The concrete used was suitable for a portable speaker and so was weather and shock proof.
Concrete speakers on the market mostly were based around natural sound and therefore did not include internal electronics. Those which did were not portable and they were too big and heavy and did not have a Bluetooth option.
The speaker had to be mostly made of out concrete however other materials could be used. It had to be portable and therefore had to have a rechargeable battery, Bluetooth and as it will be used outside it being weather and shock proof was also very important.

Rega Speaker
Portable bluetooth concrete speaker which can be used in a variety of different environments
Upcycling // The Brief For this project we had to develop and produce ONE fully refined, final product that reuses household packaging or everyday waste materials. The final product must be something wearable (i.e. clothing, hats, jewellery, shoes, bags etc). It may include other components in your final product, however, you must ensure that the majority of your product is comprised from waste materials.

The product is made out of reused old bicycle chains and old polished beads. When combined using epoxy the chain can be made into a piece of jewellery with the bead inside. The necklace chain has to be bought.
There are currently no mass produced . upcycled bike chain jewellery. People have made some however these are one of bespoke pieces. My product would look to being mass produced and therefore help upcycle old items.
The design of the jewellery has to include old bike chains, however beads could be bought as well as the necklace section.
