THESSALONIKI 2015

It is a great privilege to organize an exhibition of watercolors painted by some very good friends... Angela Barbi, Rosa Casado and Esther Diamante from Spain, Meni Karakitsou from Greece, Ines Montero from Portugal, Dominique Lhonore and Fabrice Obez from France. This exhibition features a selection among watercolors that were painted in August 2014, during a weekly watermedia workshop in Greece. We traveled in several places in Epirus and Macedonia, Greece for a beautiful journey of creativity and exploration. We visited several places, had great food and wine, painted together, exchanged ideas on watermedia... We established strong friendships. And this is what I consider as the most important thing! Next workshops will take place in April and August 2015 and I look forward to more beautiful moments and memories, more friendships and certainly more watercolors (to be exhibited as the end product of these watermedia courses). Angela Barbi was born in Girona, Spain, she also lived for three years in The Netherlands as a child. From a very young age she started drawing and painting, later on she received tuition in classical drawing and expressionistic painting, followed the anthroposophical school of Rudolf Steiner and Beppe Assenza that follow the theory of colour by Goethe. She recently visited the Goetheannum University in Basel, Switzerland, and was deeply inspired by the Works of art observed and the training offered. She has also followed training with Nicholas Simmons on several occasions. Her style is expressionistic and abstract as she's more interested in the effect and combination of colour than in depicting reality. However she's a great lover of portrait painting too. At present she manages her own business EPC ART COURSES that organizes watercolour painting holidays in Spain and other countries, tutored by several of the bestrenown watercolourists in the world. She has exhibited in several collective and individual exhibitions in Spain, France and Turkey, she's the member of a number of art societies and she has been a juror for the IWS International contests (2013 & 2014), the International Watercolour Society (IWS). She's now the coordinator of IWS Spain and continues to collaborate with the other IWS delegations worldwide.

Rosa was born in Peralta (Navarra). Since very young she was clearly interested in painting, although it has been in recent years that it has become a necessity for her and a constant necessity for self expression. This search has led her to experiment with different techniques and forms of expression, often achieving very good results and satisfaction. Since 2006 she belongs to the group of Navarra painters (GARDENA) through which has participated in several exhibitions, in various cities (Pamplona, Zaragoza, Santander, Santiago de Conpostela, Brussels) both solo and group ones. Her works are in several collections in Spain, United States, Lisbon, France and Italy, as well as the Spanish Royal Family. In recent years she experimented with watercolor (after a week of painting with Angel Cibera) and with gouache. He has participated in courses with very famous watercolorists as Angel Cibera, Fabio Cembranelli, Joseph Alvaro Castagnet, Zbukvic, George Politis.

Dominique Lhonore discovered watercolor in the 80s. Watercolor is for her synonymous with transparency, beauty , freedom and life. It leaves space for dreams, speaks without imposing and reveals without revealing. Watercolor painting gives her a sense of freedom. She loves the game of pigments in water , and she sees each painting as an adventure, a challenge to control the water. She paints in her free time time, and thus in the 90s she met the famous watercolor painter Roland Palmaerts, whose artistic and philosophical message particularly affected her . Dominique is President of the Aquarelle Reims Evenement. Also President of “Pinceaux Passion where they organize around ten weekend watercolor workshops and acrylic courses per year since seven years.
