Pelosi files a formal impeachment inquiry on Trump

By MARIAH ADDINGTON Copy Editor

Nancy Pelosi announced her formal impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump today, Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019. At 5 p.m., she made a statement after meetings with her caucus and the leadership in Congress saying, “The actions taken to date by the president have seriously violated the Constitution”(NYT). Pelosi argues that Trump’s actions in office have been less than upstanding to the Constitution of the United States of America. Since Robert Mueller’s Russia report and

Donald Trump and Nancy Pelosi pose together in 2016 when Trump was still the president—elect. Trump’s investigation into Hunter Biden, Pelosi has

been seriously asked by the Democratic party to start the

impeachment process. One reason they believe Trump’s investigation on Biden is so wrong is that he allegedly pressured the President of Ukraine to open a corruption investigation of former Vice President, and current presidential candidate, Joe Biden. “The New York Times” describes it like this: “Trump’s reported actions, and his administration’s refusal to share details about the matter with Congress, have left the House no alternative outside of impeachment. The inquiry has the potential to reshape Mr. Trump’s presidency and to cleave an already divided nation only a year before he

plans to stand for re-election”(NYT). This could shape the course of how the election advances. President Trump has responded to this impeachment announcement He has decided to release a transcript of the conversation between him and the Ukrainian president. This is not the first time that the government has started an investigation into President Trump. The House Judiciary Committee has been looking into the findings from the special council on the Robert S. Mueller III and the...

US air strike kills 30 innocent people in Afghanistan By ROBERT BIRD Staff Writer This past Wednesday, the United States government launched a drone airstrike attack intended to hit an Islamic State stronghold in Afghanistan. pine nuts, and were innocent victims who were unfortunately caught in the fire of this airstrike. In addition to the 30 that were killed, around 40 people were injured in the strike. Malik Rahat, who is their tribal leader, was quoted as saying, “The workers had lit a bonfire and were sitting together when a drone targeted them” (reuters.com). The attack occurred

in Wazir Tangi in the eastern Nangarhar province, and around 150-200 other laborers were present at the site staying in tents. Sonny Leggett, who is a United States spokesperson for activities in Afghanistan, was reported saying that the US is, “working with local officials to determine the facts,” and confirmed to the press that the airstrike occured and there were fatalities (reuters.com).

Nearly 1,400 civilians have been killed from January to July of this year, according to the United Nations. This is due to the rise of the Islamic State’s presence in this region, and the intensity with which they are acting. Jalalabad civilian Javed Mansur had the following to say on the errant drone strike, “Such mistakes cannot be justified. American forces must

realize they will never win the war by killing innocent civilians. I have seen many of my friends killed innocently because of these strikes, and I am sick of this madness by the Unites States government” (reuters.com). Thousands of innocent civilians in these regions have been killed or injured due to these errant mistakes in...

Whether this conversation with the President of Ukraine was actually pressured or not, Pelosi’s case still stands because of the plethora of other reasons behind the calls for impeachment. Some of those reasons include the Russian interfeerence present in the 2016 Presidential election and the alleged coverup of the interference by the Trump administration after entering office. In other words, the disproval of a single piece of evidence does not then necessitate the exclusion of all other evidence. Therefore, regardless of the accusations involving Trump’s coercion of Ukraine’s President, still many more questions remain regarding the Trump’s leadership and if it should come to an end, as Pelosi holds. Several times over the recent months, President Trump has made the declaration that ISIS has been defeated, most notable last December when he pulled most United States out of combat in Syria. Trump said of ISIS at that time, “We have beaten them and we have beaten them badly. ISIS is defeated.” Following this declaration by the president, Dan Coats, who at the time was the Director of National Intelligence told Congress that ISIS, “very likely will continue to pursue external attacks from Iraq and Syria against

regional and Western adversaries, including the United States. ISIS has returned to its guerrilla warfare roots while continuing to plot attacks and direct its supporters worldwide.” Trump then fired back at Coats, tweeting that they should “go back to school…When I became President, ISIS was out of control in Syria and running rampant. Since then, tremendous progress has been made, especially over the last five weeks… Fighting connives but the people of Afghanistan want peace in this never ending war.” Nevertheless, talks have not been very successful. Even though in Iraq and Syria the caliphate has been reduced some, ISIS troops in Afghanistan continue to gain strength, despite President Trump’s claims.

Bill Cronin inducted into NAIA Hall of Fame Class of 2019

By DYLAN PRUITT S&R Editor

For 22 seasons, Bill Cronin has walked the sidelines of Georgetown football games and guided team after team of impressive players. With close to 200 total wins under his guidance as head coach and multiple NAIA titles, it now seems that the hard work of Mr. Cronin is being recognized and honored. On Sept. 16, it was announced that longtime Georgetown football coach Bill Cronin is among the NAIA Hall of Fame Class of 2019. This will be Georgetown’s eleventh induction, a record which began in 1973 with basketball coach Cecil Tuttle. Cronin possesses perhaps one of the most storied careers in GC history, including milestones such as the coach with the most wins in Georgetown history, President of the American Football Coaches Association in 2018 and two-time NAIA Coach of the Year.

Cronin received his Bachelors degree from Indiana University in 1978, and later his Masters of Science and Secondary Education from Ball State University. Beginning his coaching career as head coach of Carmel Junior High, Cronin soon found his home at Georgetown College in 1982 as Assistant Coach. Later in 1997, he became Head Coach here at Georgetown, a position he has held ever since. Cronin was surprised by the announcement prior to a routine team practice. Characteristically, the new NAIA inductee remained humble throughout and attributed the glory of his induction to others rather than himself. Most specifically, Cronin thanked his wife, Ellen and their three children, Kevin, Chris and Cory, stating that they have all “given up much over the past 30 years” to help Mr. Cronin pursue his passion. Cronin also used the

announcement of his induction as both lesson and praise for his team and Georgetown football as a whole. The legendary coach is quoted as saying: “This is a sign of what this program has done over a number of years. It is you players that make these kind of things happen. It’s the players and coaches before you that make this type of honor a reality. I give credit to the past and present coaches here who coach their tails off day in and day out so we can get to this point. This is quite an honor, an honor for me, but it’s you guys, it’s this program.” Notable officials, including President Jones and Georgetown’s Director of Athletics, expressed their praise of Coach Cronin and this momentous recognition of his achievements. From all students, faculty, and staff of Georgetown, a huge congratulations to Coach Cronin for his induction into the NAIA Hall of Fame!

“Coach Cronin’s success and character are a testament to a type of transformative education, with this tremendous accomplishment, he brings further honor to the college, our athletic program and football team. Once again, it is a great day to be a Tiger.”

“We have a lot of great coaches that make Georgetown home, building a tradition here. It is what makes our department stand out. Cronin could be coaching anywhere. However, his passion and love for Georgetown kept him anchored right here.”

September 25, 2019 Page 5 Sports & Recreation Hermansson aims to Wrestling history lesson: A look at continue win streak the Intercontinental Championship

Issue 15

By SANTINO MANISCALCHI Staff Writer Jack Hermansson, put frankly, is on a roll in the UFC as of late. Looking to take his fifth straight win on Sep. 28 against Jared Cannonier. In the spirit of following Hermansson’s record, we can take a look at his last middleweight bout in Florida against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Both men were matched in height at six feet and one inches tall, but ultimately the thirty-year-old Norwegian overcame Souza via the judges’ decisions. However, Hermansson has a 77.5 inch reach compared to Souza’s 72 inch reach. In any fight, if someone has more reach they tend to have a greater chance of dealing damage, due to the fact that they can hit from farther ranges. That is, of course, if the fighter is able to take advantage of this. The five-round match began with Souza in the red corner and Hermansson in the blue corner. Within four seconds of the start, Hermansson went for a mid-body kick that was deflected by Souza. Hermansson responded by unleashing a series of kicks before falling back to his

defensive stance. When the clock reached two-minutes and thirty-seconds, Hermansson released a barrage of fists and pinned the fighter down before any possible reaction. However, the attack failed and Souza was able to free himself. As the match progressed further through round two and three, the fighters both had excellent moments. Hermansson was able to provide perfect takedowns while Souza gave accurate counter strikes every time Hermansson gets to close to Souza’s right hook. By the end of the fourth round both competitors were trading blows despite visible fatigue, as if the two both adopted the mindset of taking the other down with them. When the match reached the fifth round, Hermansson took control of the octagon by not allowing Souza to respond to the fighter’s attacks and grapples. The game ended with the judges releasing their scores and to reveal that Hermansson won via decisions for the most successful and well-placed strikes, takedowns and grapples. This match was one of many excellent bouts between two amazing fighters.

Despite the staged nature of professional wrestling, and the suspension of belief necessary for its storylines, it never goes so far as to make up the fact that certain matches actually took place. At least, not in recent years. In Sept. 1979, however, that is exactly what the WWF did. Not only was the audience told that a tournament took place, but they were also duped into believing that this tournament led to a brand new championship: the Intercontinental Championship. The story, as told by the WWF, was that renowned wrestler and then North American Heavyweight Champion, Pat Patterson, had traveled to Rio de Janeiro and participated in a tournament there. In the finals of said tournament, Patterson defeated the holder of the South American Championship to unify the two belts, thus creating the Intercontinental Championship. In reality, both the tournament and the South American title were entirely made up. Obvously, nothing of this sort would pass today since a few seconds on Google would confirm or deny if a tournament actually took place. At the time, though, no such fact-checking methods existed, especially for professional wrestling. With an events schedule that largely

consisted of untelevised house shows in small town arenas, results from a match that took place in the next town over might not even be properly recorded and reported. No official statements have ever been made by either Patterson or Vince McMahon, owner of WWE, about the reason behind the change. However, one popular theory is that McMahon learned that a rival company had also created a North American Heavyweight Championship and wanted to stand apart from the crowd. The Intercontinental Championship soon became the belt that helped fans identify the next big thing in the WWF. Among the first of many highlighted Intercontinental champions is “Macho Man” Randy Savage. Alongside Hulk Hogan, Savage became such a huge star in the 1980s that even those who did not watch the WWF could recognize the Macho Man -- especially in Slim Jim commercials. Not only did the championship help establish Savage as one of the next top stars of the industry, but his inherent star power showed that the title was the stepping stone to the top prize: the WWF Championship. Yet another Intercontinental Champion turned legendary wrestler is the Ultimate Warrior, who captured the belt in Aug. 1989 and held it until Apr. 1990. Much like Savage, the electric Warrior excited

crowds like no other with his entrance alone. Warrior is perhaps the best demonstration of the Intercontinental Championship’s role as a signal towards the next big star, considering that he only lost the title because he defeated Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VI for the WWF Championship. Since WWF rules held that a single star could not hold two titles at once, he was subsequently stripped of the Intercontinental title in order to remain top champion in the company. A plethora of other WWF stars that once held the Intercontinental Championship such as Shawn Michaels, Triple H, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Chris Jericho and Daniel Bryan just to name a few, were also stripped o The championship was groundbreaking not just because of its nature as the harbinger for future stars, but also because of its contributions to wrestling history as a whole. For example, the first triple-threat and ladder matches in the WWF were fought for the Intercontinental Championship. Furthermore, it was the first men’s title to ever be won by a woman — Chyna in 1999. In short, without the Intercontinental Championship, much of the WWE that we know today most likely would not even exist. Thank goodness for fake tournaments.

The best of the bust: Lambda Chi Alpha’s annual watermelon bust By BEN ROBISON Staff Writer

Lambda Chi Alpha hosted their annual Watermelon Bust this past Thursday on the lawn in the South Quad. The purpose of the Bust was to raise money for God’s Pantry Food Bank, which is a member of Feeding America in Lexington. The Lamb’s were able to raise over $2,000 in donations from this event, and a donor is even going to match their donation since it is Hunger Action Month. With the money raised, God’s Pantry Food Bank can buy over 32,000 meals to feed local families. Alpha Gamma Delta, Kappa Delta, Phi Mu and Sigma Kappa each had their members representing them

in the different events. These different events included an over-under watermelon competition, a paint-your-coach competition, a watermelon carving competition, seed spitting, watermelon eating relay, watermelon pong and a new event— the watermelon thigh bust. The fan favorites amongst these events were the eating relay and the thigh bust. Sigma Kappa won the most points overall and were deemed the “Best of the Bust.” Sigma Kappa also raised over $464.92 in donations to help Alaina Coleman win the Queen of the Patch. Claire Oyler from Kappa Delta was announced as Lamb’s Crescent Girl. A Crescent Girl is a woman on campus who represents the

fraternity in the best possible ways on campus and holds their ideals and virtues close to the heart. Lambda Chi Alpha plans on helping with a build that Habitat for Humanity is working on in Georgetown. They plan on collaborating in this event with Sigma Kappa but encourage anyone who is interested to help out. For those who are interested, you can contact Katie Garnett whose email is kgarnett@scottcountyhabitat.org. The event was an overall success as the teams had fun dropping, carving, painting and throwing watermelons. When asked if the Lamb’s had any final words on the event, External Vice President, Preston Crump spoke out and wanted to “thank the campus

community and administrators for an amazing night and appreciate all the support.”

ArtsEntertainment Lauren’s Screen Savers: “The Umbrella Academy” Page 8

The Georgetonian

By LAUREN PARKINSON A&E Editor I’m certain that by now you have probably heard of one of Netflix’s newest original television series, “The Umbrella Academy.” If you have not yet seen the show, based on the comic series written by Gerard Way (that’s right, the “My Chemical Romance” singer), then you are truly missing out. And if you are looking for a reason to start it, then look no further. The first season of the show, released back in February of this year, tells a superhero story with a style different than any other. Think X-Men, but a hundred times more dimension, character depth, mystery and general complexity, plus a dash of something remarkably quirky. A group of seven children with spe-

cial powers are adopted and raised by a rich man who trains them to become child heroes, but the show doesn’t really start there at the beginning. It starts with said children now as adults, reuniting after many years apart for their father’s funeral. The mysterious circumstances surrounding their father’s death, the arrival of a long-lost sibling, memories from a bizarre childhood and the clashing of seven intense personalities send the plot right off from the very first episode. The show’s strongest aspect though lies in its characterization. Before the audience even learns about their superpowers, the characters themselves shine through in the very first episode. A combination of phenomenal acting (I mean, seriously, can we talk about this Aidan Gallagher kid?) and plenty of time to give each character tremen-

dously interesting depth makes it unbelievably easy to become invested in all seven main characters, and more. Not to mention the commendable attempt at creating superpowers that are, for the most part, not stereotypical, but unique and perhaps even a bit dark and twisted (conjuring the dead, for example? Big yikes). An admittedly over-used storyline (stopping the apocalypse, oh no) is saved with the use of some incredibly clever, quirky twists and help to make this show exactly the kind of fresh new superhero story everyone needs right now. Some of the quirks hover on the boarder of cheesy, sure, but don’t let it sway you. The strangeness is ultimately refreshing next to other modern superhero TV shows. In addition, the plot is heavily laced with elements of mystery, and the cre-

ators are never afraid to make things bloody. Deadly plot twists are scattered around like landmines, along with a few romances, even the kind that make you a little uncomfortable (you know the one I mean). All of this coupled with a truly terrific soundtrack featuring Queen, “Istanbul (not Constantinople),” Lesley Gore and so many more gems make this the newest quirky show you need in your life. I recommend jumping onto the Umbrella Academy train now because production for the second season is already in full swing! Set to be released next year, the writers have promised that season two will explore the extent of our heroes’ abilities, introduce several new characters and contain more time-travelling shenanigans, in addition to resolving the conflict created by last season’s massive cliff-hanger.

“The Little Prince” is still relevant to adults By SYDNEY MULLINS Staff Writer “The Little Prince” is a critically acclaimed children’s book by the French author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Although published as a children’s book and enjoyed by children around the world, there are many important adult themes throughout the story. It is for these reasons that I believe that every person should carefully read “The Little Prince” later in life. One of the main points of “The Little Prince” is to point out what is truly significant in life. It is through Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s use of childlike metaphors and subject matter that adult themes on the value of love and appreciation impact on what truly matters in a person’s life. In the beginning of the speaker’s journey with the Little Prince, the prince asked the speaker to draw him a sheep. The question of whether the sheep would eat a flower arises. The author does not understand why this question is so important. In response to this, the Little Prince states, “But if the

sheep eats the flower, then for him [the Little Prince] it’s as if, suddenly, all the stars went out. And that isn’t important?” This response directly links to the question of significance. The speaker did not mind if the sheep eats the flower, because it was just another flower, but to the Little Prince, she was what made the stars bright. The things that truly matter are what people love and value within themselves. Throughout the story, the speaker repeatedly references the value “grown ups” place on numbers. To the Little Prince, these things seem arbitrary because people valued numbers, not because they were kind and beautiful, but because that is what they were told mattered. Later on in his journey, the Little Prince encounters a businessman who counts the stars, “If I own a scarf, I can tie it around my neck and take it away. If I own a flower, I can pick it and take it away, but you can’t pick the stars!” The metaphorical representation of money shows how useless it is to own something and place it in a drawer just for the sake of having it. There is noth-

ing significant about possessing something. The Little Prince sheds light on what is truly to be appreciated through his friendship with the fox. The fox taught the Little Prince that flowers, foxes and people matter because of the love that is had for them; “But if you tame me, my life will be Source: wikimediacommons.com “The Little Prince” cover filled with sunshine. I’ll know the sound of footsteps that will be different from all the rest. Other footsteps send me back underground. Yours will call me out of my burrow like music.” The fox reveals to the Little Prince that love and appreciation are what make something valuable, and they are worth having even if it is painful in the end. The Little Prince at the end of his journey leaves the speaker with the gift that love is what conquers all through

his departure, and his goodbye, saying,“But all those stars are silent stars. You, though, you’ll have stars like nobody else. When you look up at the sky at night, since I’ll be living on one of them, since I’ll be laughing on one of them, for you it’ll be as if all the stars are laughing. You’ll have stars that can laugh!” The Little Prince comforted the speaker by reminding him that the stars will mean so much more now that he has learned the love that the Little Prince has, and will always have that reminder of them. This comfort concludes the overarching answer to what matters on this planet, which is what we feel for others and what we choose to love. It is because of these important themes that are embedded throughout “The Little Prince” that it has impacted pop culture and academia at the secondary, and post secondary levels. I encourage each person to read The Little Prince with these themes in mind. There is true value in carefully reading it, and it very well may change your life.

and make beautiful music with Post Malone, and there is a lot of raw emotion in these songs that can help make you feel better if you are feeling down. All together it makes a great playlist for any party that you have coming up. I can guarantee that any fans of Post Malone are blasting this album in their car while driving or annoying their roommates with the same 19 songs over and over again. Just listening to the songs can make you feel some intense emotions and the lyrics are also very deep; just like in the song “Take What You Want” Ozzy

Osbourne sings, “I feel you crumble in my arms down to your heart of stone, you bled me dry just like the tears you never show.” But the album also includes a party favorite like “Sunflower,” which was featured on the hit movie “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse”; along with “Rockstar” and “Better Now,” which are also some of Post Malone’s more popular party songs. All together, Post Malone is a brilliant artist who puts everything into the songs he writes and performs; he holds nothing back he tells us, the lis-

teners, how he feels and how he thinks and reacts to what he has been through emotionally. Post Malone is a great performer because he can tell us such a sad story, and he can tell it in a way that almost anybody could relate to. Malone makes us sympathize with him; he can also come up with absolute party songs and make us feel like there isn’t a care in the world. I highly recommend listening to Post Malone’s new album because it truly is a beautiful collection of songs

Post Malone’s new album inspires emotion By TYLER EVANS Staff Writer On Sept. 6, 2019, Post Malone released his newest album titled “Hollywood’s Bleeding,” and with this he brings on a new musical journey. In this album, we see some unusual collaborations by artists we would never expect to show up on the same album as Post Malone, with artists such as Meek Mill, Future, Halsey, SZA, Young Thug and the biggest surprise of them all Ozzy Osbourne. All of these artists come together

vaping lung illnesses? By COOPER ADKINS Opinion Editor More and more, you hear in the media about someone being hospitalized or even dying due to vaping. The FDA and even President Trump have considered banning all flavored e-cigarette products. This reaction is in response to the sensationalist articles and misleading headlines pushed by the media (washingtonpost.com). Once you actually read the articles on the illnesses revolving around the use of vapes, you realize that it’s all just smoke and mirrors. These lung illnesses are not happening in people who buy the vape liquids you can get at any convenience store. They are occuring with people who buy these off the street, such as teenagers and/or people looking for the cartridges that contain THC. THC is the chemical compound found in marijuana that produces the high. While recreational marijuana is legal in some states, these illnesses are arising from illegal cartridges bought on the street. The argument used by the FDA is that banning the flavored juices will deter teens from using them, and thus prevent more cases of the vaping illness from happening. They tried this earlier this year, restricting JUUL from selling mango, fruit medley

and crème brûlée pods. As we have seen, this ban has solved nothing, and widening the ban doesn’t solve it because they’re still going to use these products, regardless of the flavor. Moreover, the illnesses are being caused by tampered-with cartridges or liquid purchased illegally. Nicotine addiction isn’t just going to go away if they ban flavored vapes. The buzz outweighs the flavor of anything. Once these flavors are banned, teens will just start vaping the tobacco flavored liquid, or even worse: cigarettes. It might taste bad to them, but it will still give them the nicotine buzz they crave (time. com). The tobacco companies are pouncing on the opportunity to bring down the sales of the competing vaping industry. These products are rapidly gaining popularity, and Big Tobacco doesn’t like that. Even in our modern society, where tobacco is vilified by a majority of Americans, these huge corporations still make large donations to different political candidates in order that they do Big Tobacco’s bidding. They have invested interest in getting e-cigs pulled from the market, so they can get the already nicotine addicted vapers smoking their cigarettes.

Cigarettes can unarguably cause cancer, and the government still allows them to be sold to adults all across this country. However, the effects of vaping are still largely unknown, as it is a new product. While inhaling anything besides pure air is obviously not good for your lungs, in my opinion there is no way these e-cigs could do anywhere near as much harm as cigarettes do to you. These e-cigs can aid in helping people quit smoking cigarettes, and also offer a safer alternative to people who would otherwise get addicted to unhealthier nicotine products for whatever reason. The fact that the FDA and the President are considering banning flavored e-cig juice is ridiculous. Are they wanting to ban these because they are bought by Big Tobacco or is it just a case of confusion due to the misinformation campaign and people not reading past headlines? Whatever the case is, banning vape cartridges and liquid is not going to fix any of the problems. People wanting nicotine will just turn to the black market to satisfy their wants, which is much more dangerous than thoroughly inspected and regulated items you can currently buy at the store. The so-called “vaping lung illness” is here to stay, regardless of whether the sale of vape cartridges and liquids is stopped or not.

HBO’s “Barry” is a hit for Bill Hader By ASHLYN REED Staff Writer HBO is known for their television shows, “Game of Thrones,” “Silicon Valley” and the new hit comedy: “Barry.” These shows have continously racked up nominations for awards in all categories. With Sunday night’s Emmy’s, it’s no surprise that people are talking about who recieved the coveted trophy. One thing that caught my eye in particular is an episode of “Barry,” entitled “Ronny/Lilly,” which was nominated. Saturday Night Live alumni, Bill Hader, stars, writes, produces and even directs the new comedy. Joined by The Fonz himself, Henry Winkler, the show follows

a Marine who has returned home and lost his purpose. He’s down on his luck and his uncle (Stephen Root) gets him a job as a hitman for hire. However, he doesn’t like being a hitman, so to fill the sad void in his heart, Barry (Hader) becomes an actor. He begins taking a class taught by Mr. Jean Cousineau (Winkler), an actor who never really got his big break in Hollywood. And with the guidance of Mr. Cousineau, Barry finds his true passions and purpose. This show has everything: war, violence, emotion, the Chechen mob, romance, the Burmese mob, family, the South American cartel, acting lessons and enough laughs to spare. Hader does a wonderful job in the series of keeping his

identity a secret and switching between “Actor Barry” and “Hitman Barry.” In the second season of the show, which wrapped earlier this year, Barry finds himself at a moral crossroads: to kill or not to kill? This season also allows its lead actor to direct. The storyline and freeing of the reigns opened the door for the episode “Ronny/Lily.” In the fifth episode of the second season, Barry is hired for a hit, but he does not want to go through with it. Instead, he gives the target a way out to safety. Rather than take the free pass, the target begins a 4 minute fight sequence involving tae kwon do, which later resumes in a health and beauty aisle of a CVS.

With some flashbacks thrown in, and a form of cinematography last seen in the iconic one-take episode of “The Haunting of Hill House,” a wonderful music track, and the shock factor associated with some other aspects of the episode, you get a piece of art. But did the episode deserve the Emmy nominations it received? In my opinion, no. There are so many other episodes, the finale of season two being the best one yet, that deserve the nod. This episode in itself, at least to me, does not deserve the recognition. The other nominations, however, I will wholeheartedly support. “Barry” was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, Bill Hader was nominated for both Outstanding Lead Actor

Noise,” and “Ice Age.” But more than that, she serves as a comfort to us all. I know if I could receive a hug from any person dead or alive in all of history, I would choose her. I mean she is an absolute talent. Queen is a rapper, singer, songwriter, actress and producer. Most people can barely succeed at one of those things. Fellow copy editor and Queen Latifah advocate Becky Gray said this about the icon, “Queen Latifah is an absolute goddess and has occupied a reserved seat at my Last Supper Party for years now.

Right between Rosemary Allen and Ellen DeGeneres.” Junior Anna Banks adds her enthusiasm and love of the icon, “One word. Hairspray.” Just today she tweeted out an encouragement for everyone to register to vote and even gave a helpful link for those who weren’t to do so. That’s a pretty big deal considering she has almost eight million followers and adoring twitter fans who will adhere to her beck and call. On her Twitter she also promotes a healthy body and mind, unity and she supports

fellow artists and actors. The Queen is all about love and letting people have a voice. If she were to be president, that wouldn’t change. Honestly, a few years ago I would have assumed that the dude who used to yell “You’re fired” at people on TV would never have a shot at being the leader of our country. Nothing may come out of this, actually I’m sure that nothing will, but if it did that would be dope. Take a minute and imagine a world where this was a possibility and I dare you not to smile.

in a Comedy as well as Outstanding Director in a Comedy. Henry Winkler, Stephen Root and Anthony Carrigan were all head to head in the nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy series, and Sarah Goldberg who plays Barry’s girlfriend, Sally Reed, was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy. In the end, Sunday night was a bust for the show, with only one award being won. Bill Hader won Outstanding Actor in a Comedy, taking none of the credit for himself in his acceptance speech, but rather giving it to the co-creator of the show. The rest of the show had been nominated for nearly 30 Emmys in the first two seasons, and “Barry” returns to HBO in 2020.

Queen Latifah for President 2020 By SOPHIE HUGHES Copy Editor I know you might be a little confused by this headline. Honestly, I don’t know where it came from myself, but I know it feels right. We all know her, we all love her, and just assuming here, but I think most would agree it doesn’t sound like the worst idea. We grew up with the Queen, and she has starred in some of the most beloved movies of our generation. These include “The Last Holiday,” “Hairspray,” “Joyful
