The Georgetown College dance team and cheerleaders started off the night with a combined performance. They shared the stage and took turns for the various parts of their performances.

 In Bellevue, Washington, a student driver crashed into the driving school while taking a test. Neither the driver nor the building occupants were injured.  In Brandon Township, Michigan, Sheriff’s deputies and fire fighters rescued a man who, while attempting to break into a restaurant, became stuck in a pizza oven exhaust vent for about 11 hours. He was arrested and hospitalized for minor injuries.  A 1878 tin type photograph of Billy the Kid was recently authenticated by a numismatics firm after over a year of research. This is only the second photo known of Billy the Kid and was purchased at a California antiques store for $2, but may be worth up to $5 million.  Two hunters in Narvik, Norway were having a good day, having shot and killed two moose, until they realized they were shooting through a fence at zoo animals. They immediately alerted zoo officials who currently are not pressing charges as it appears to have been an accident.  An Australian chicken restaurant, called Chicken Treat, has conscripted a hen to run its Twitter account by walking on and pecking at a keyboard placed in her coop. This will go on until she types a five letter word to earn the world record.

Yarmuth speaks at Georgetown College

By KOLT BODDY Staff Writer On Thursday, Congressman John Yarmuth traveled to Georgetown College to speak about issues the nation and the state face and the upcoming official elections. He stressed the importance to voting since the Gubernatorial race is currently happening in Kentucky.

Congressman Yarmuth discussed his positions on various government bills. He also talked about the Republican party scrambling to find a suitable Speaker of the House to replace Speaker John Boehner. He talked about a few potential candidates that the Democratic party are looking into for the Speakers position, but said that they haven’t come up with a front runner to officially declare yet.

Congressman Yarmuth discussed the importance of being involved with the government and caring about issues the country faces. He said that no matter what profession people take

they are involved with the political system in some way or another.

Brenna Jewell, senior and member of the Georgetown Young Democrats, said, “Yarmuth did an excellent job speaking to Georgetown students and helping them understand how politics impact their lives. It doesn’t matter what job you have; you should be engaged in what is happening politically because the decisions that are made will impact your life and your career.”

Although it is important to be involved with the political system, he said it is of equal, if not more, importance to do your civic duty of voting.

He wanted students to know that every vote truly does count, regardless of it seeming like a vote doesn’t seem to be recognized when a preferred candidate does not win an election.

Yarmuth also discussed environmental issues and gave suggestions for a few books that people can read if they wish to learn about environmental issues’ impact on politics and the

world. He also talked about the environmental issues being discussed in Congress. The books he recommended were tied into the laws and actions being taken in Congress to improve environmental issues and helping individuals get involved in taking initiatives to reform environmental practices.

Edelen campaigns for State Auditor re-election

By ALEX CAUDILL Staff Writer Adam Edelen, 40, was first elected as State Auditor of Public Accounts for the Commonwealth of Kentucky in November of 2011 and was sworn into office in January 2012. If re–elected, he will start his second four year term in office. Voters will decide whether or not to send Adam Edelen back to Frankfort, Kentucky on Tuesday, November 3, 2015. Polls will be open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Before being elected State Auditor, Adam Edelen served in the administrations of both, Governor Paul Patton (1995–2003) and Governor Steve

Beshear (2007–2015). He also worked in the private sector briefly for Thomas and King.

Edelen is the nominee for the Democratic Party this year and ran unopposed in the May Primary. Edelen succeeded Crit Luallen as Auditor, who is currently the Lieutenant Governor.

Some of Edelen’s most notable work in his first term included investigating former Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer (R) with the help of current Agriculture Commissioner James Comer (R) for wrong–doing.

Recently, Edelen has advocated for a reform of the current system that processes rape kits. There are over 3,000 unprocessed DNA rape kits in the

current criminal justice system in Kentucky, according to an investigation conducted by Auditor Edelen’s office.

On the campaign trail this year, Edelen has traversed the state, raising over $1 million, which is more than any State Auditor candidate has ever raised in the history of the office.

The most recent Bluegrass Poll, says that Edelen holds a slight lead over his opponent—35 percent to 33 percent.

However, 27 percent of voters still remain undecided as to who they will vote for.

Auditor Edelen was widely rumored to be a candidate for governor this year in the Democratic Primary , but instead he chose to run for re–elec-

tion as Auditor. Attorney General Jack Conway is instead the Democratic nominee this year.

Edelen was also recently featured on the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC. Maddow said Edelen was one of the best orators she has heard speak from the South and compared him to President Bill Clinton.

Also referenced in the Maddow piece, Edelen is considering a run for the United States Senate against Senator Rand Paul next year. In the Maddow piece, he is mentioned as being the Democratic Party’s best chance at taking back the seat once held

Student encourages working out

By KAITLIN FAHEY Features Editor The Georgetown College Kinesiology and Health Studies (KHS) Club is celebrating Exercise is Medicine Month throughout October.

Each week, a member of the campus community will be interviewed about how they incorporate exercise into their day to day activities.

McKayla Moore is a junior at Georgetown College and serves as the Vice President of Campus and Community

Affairs on the Student Government Association.

McKayla started doing regular physical activity after she noticed that she had gained weight in college. “I wasn’t happy with myself and wanted to be more confident,” she explained.

While Moore said that she does not have a specific workout routine that she follows, she does make sure to run and lift every day. “I tend to change it up daily so my body doesn’t get used to the same physical activity,” she said.

Like many other students, Moore has a busy schedule. In order to balance physical activity with her other obligations, she tries to make time to go to the gym every day. “If I know I’m having a busy night, I’ll go in the morning,” she said.

Some of the benefits that Moore said she has experienced from regular physical activity are higher levels of energy, self–confidence and happiness. Overall, she said that she feels better about herself.

Moore said that her biggest

achievement so far was losing 20 pounds over the summer of her sophomore year.

“It took a lot of dedication and hard work,” she said, “but I am so happy I reached my goal.”

Her biggest motivation is looking at photos from before she adopted a more active lifestyle. In doing this, she is able to see how far she has come and how much healthier she is today.

Bo-taoshi acts similarly to the West’s capture the flag, but with a much more difficult and interesting twist: the opposite team’s pole has to come down.

It’s as sophisticated, large and team-dependent as capture the flag while being as rough and tiring as rugby.

The sport pits two teams of 150 against each other. Each team is split into two groups of 75: offense and defense. The sheer numbers of this sport makes it seem closer to war than just a friendly match.

On offense, there are three basic positions all the players take on. A “springboard” who

kneels down close to the pole so the main pole attackers can leap over the defense. Ideally, they should be fast, yet sturdy, so that they can continually support the attackers and even launch them to the pole. The main pole attacker’s job is to leverage him or herself onto the pole near its zenith so they can bring it down. These are the strongest people who can fight off the defense and tackle or pull the pole down using gravity and their weight.

Finally, there’s the support, who goes around distracting the defense and attempting to sway them from the action.

The offensive force is allowed to roam around the confines of the pre-determined area, but the defense has to remain within a set boundary surrounding the pole. This is

basic enough. Given that there can be up to 150 people battling each other around a pole, the space can get crowded.

The defense has many more set roles to fulfill during combat: The pole support

keeps the pole as upright as possible. They stand next to the pole and focus only on aiming it towards the sky. The barriers surround the supports and ward off the attackers; these are the people the pole attackers try to leap over. The interference is the defensive equivalent to the offense’s support; their main goal is to distract and redirect attacks.

The scrum disabler knocks the springboards out from under the attackers, slowing down the assault. Finally, we have the ninja. The ninja is a sole defender who stays towards the top of the pole, fighting on his pole supports, and knocks off any attacker who gets to the pole. If he is defeated, the offense has victory in the bag.

Other universal rules are as follows: the pole must be about

10-16 feet tall and must always touch the ground; the game ends when the pole reaches a 30 degree angle from the ground, meaning the offense has toppled it two-thirds of the way to the ground; all players must be barefoot; the majority of game hosts also require headware; there is never any legitimate fighting in the form of punching, hitting, tackling etc, but kicking is usually fine.

Homecoming weekend was nothing short of spectacular as the Tigers demolished Union College 40–7, celebrated their seniors, and re–instilled the spirit of what Georgetown Tradition is all about with the help of their Head Coach Bill Cronin.

Everybody knows that a homecoming weekend cannot be successful without the home team bringing in the win. This past weekend, the Tigers did that and more.

Our very own GC Tigers played incredible football as a wealth of students and alumni cheered them on from the sidelines. Next Tuesday, Oct. 27, Georgetown College will host Incense and Arrows for several events throughout the course of the day.

Incense and Arrows is a group of songwriters, musicians and worship leaders from Fredericksburg, Virginia. Their aim is “to release songs and creative expressions that touch the heart of God and people, bringing forth global awakening and revival unto a song in every nation and incense in every place” (reverbnation. com).

Incense and Arrows will then host two workshops in the afternoon. From 2 p.m. to 3:20 p.m., there will be a workshop called “Creative Revival in Worship Leadership,”and from 3:40 p.m. to 5 p.m., there will be a workshop called “Revival on College Campuses.”

The workshops will take place in the Chapel, with further details to be announced at a later date.

In the evening, Incense and Arrows will be leading prayer and worship at Rooted, a weekly campus ministry service. Rooted begins at 8 p.m. in the Jones Hall Nelson Suite in the Student Center.

GAC to host Kings Island trip this Friday KAITLIN FAHEY Features Editor This Friday, Oct. 23, the Georgetown Activities Council (GAC) will be hosting a trip to Kings Island near Cincinnati, Ohio.

During the month of October, Kings Island hosts Halloween Haunt, an event

featuring haunted attractions and costumes.

Many of the rides and games at the amusement park will still be in operation as well.

The bus will leave campus for Kings Island Friday at 6 p.m. The event will last throughout the evening.

Students can reserve their

spot on the trip by bringing $20 to the GAC office this week. This will include the cost of transportation and the event ticket.

Space on the trip is limited, so students are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible.

A review: Never miss a dress rehearsal

By JOHN WAITE Staff Writer On Thursday, October 15th, the Songfest dress rehearsal took place.

This was everyone’s last chance to fix anything before the big night. The best part of the dress rehearsals are that anything can happen. Sometimes, things might get cut at the last minute to make things run a bit smoother. So, let’s dive into one of Georgetown’s finest traditions.

First we started with introductions and welcomes and all the good stuff that comes before any performance.

Where we really begin is with the Cheerleaders and Dance Team. They had it all: dancing, flipping, pyramids, a giant tiger and some really impressive moves by both teams. I found it to be a nice warm up to what was about to unfold throughout the night.

Next up we had the Independents.

They started out with a really funny reenactment of the Pixar Lamp opening. Because the lamp couldn’t jump on the I’s head, she just hit knocked it out and stole its money. The skit continued with a “Toy Story”–like situation where the Camera and the Light fought each other without the humans knowing what was going on. To stay true to a movie–like feel, they had an intermission where the definition of boredom was read out loud. I found this to be very amusing. The fight resumed with the Light taking victory. I found this to be really fun and creative. It was a great starting point to what would be a great night.

They brought back the song in Songfest. They did a sketch where an actress is looking back at her time at Georgetown. Some of the things were spot on, like how orientation takes forever to

get through. The songs were great and it was one of the highlights of the night.

They did several interviews for the different Greek Life. They made fun of everyone from the PHAs to themselves. If there was a stereotype, they played it up. Sometimes they played it up a little too much.

Next were the girls from AGD. They did a very heartwarming send– off to the seniors. Two students were looking back at the past 4 years. They had a script to college and compared it to how the real world doesn’t have a script and how things change. The ending was just awesome. They did the song “Flashlight” from the movie “Pitch Perfect 2.” They all had flashlights, turned them on the two singers and lit up the dark stage. Aside from tech issues, it was a great performance.

Phi Mu was up next. They had three students talking about what movies are like these days. One of the girls was transported into a western movie with

great. Finally they shifted over to the silent films with goofy dancing. They even wore black and white clothes. In the end all the movies had their great points and promoted the future. I liked this one a lot. As a Theater and Film major, I enjoyed how all the genres were represented. They also had a lot of great choreography.

Next up was probably my favorite of the night, Lamba Chi Alpha and their parody on Saturday Night Live called Songfest Night Live. They started the show with the one and only Donald Trump. He fired Dr. Green and wanted to build a wall bigger than the Caf walls. He even offered to pay half our debt by paying for it with his own cash. Next they had a “Star Wars” and “Braveheart” parody. I love the “Braveheart” bit. I wish some of them had mics though. Other than that, I love this one.

Kappa Delta was up next with Georgetown World Land, a parody of Disney World. They had many, many

puns. I normally love puns, but these seemed a little forced. They had Belle traveling this magical place trying to find where she belongs. They had many Disney World rides, with Space Mountain being one of them. I personally didn’t like this one all that much.

It was ok, but I found that there were better ones than this. It really didn’t stick out to me that much.

The final sorority to go was Sigma Kappa. They also had a Disney themed sketch, but they used Peter Pan for theirs. They had Wendy, who was about to go on for a play of “Peter Pan,” was taken by Pan and shown what all that Never Land had to offer in terms of who she wants to be. I liked this one.

It took the Peter Pan idea and ran with it having many of the great characters like Captain Hook, Tinker Bell and the Lost Boys. The dancing was great and really cool to watch. The costumes were great, too. They did a fantastic job with them.

Last but not least we had the newly– added GC Hip Hop Team. They were fantastic. Accompanied by the Georgetown Middle School Dance Team, they danced to many great Hip Hop songs.

The audience loved them, and so did I. The skill they showed was just great.

There were a few tech issues, most noticeably during the rap segment.

Other than that, they were fantastic. I can’t wait to see what else they do in the future.

I loved this dress rehearsal. It went fairly smoothly, and we got to see stuff before they were cut. I can’t wait to see what the future Songfest will hold.



Looking forward to the Taylor Swift concert

specific people, chosen by either her mother or spotters that she places in the audience, who invites you to hangout with Swift herself and a few other lucky fans for a few hours after the show.

The show itself has garnered much attention around the world for her newfound popularity, and, despite the fame she’s currently receiving, she still remains one of the world’s most down to Earth celebrities. I look forward to the concert, and next week I look forward to writing a full-page review on it. Look forward to it, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

She’s donated to multiple charities, met children and people whose lives she’s changed, and paid for her latest video out of pocket so that all the proceeds from it could go to help animals. Game of the week: “Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze”

By JOHN WAITE Staff Writer With the weather getting a bit chilly outside, I thought that it would be cool to talk about the only modern Donkey Kong game I’ve ever played, “Tropical Freeze.” This game is part of Donkey Kong’s revival by Retro Studios, who also produced the “Metroid Prime” games. “Tropical Freeze” is a sequel to the Wii and 3DS game “Donkey Kong Country Returns,” a game that brought DK back into to the spotlight of Nintendo. This game was released in 2014 as a 2D platformer, just like the old SNES DK games. Without further ado, let’s talk about the story of the game.

The game starts off with it being DK’s birthday. He has his banana cake and all his friends and family are with him, but just like this month, winter is coming in. A giant walrus and his evil group of artic animals are coming onto

the shore of the island that DK lives on.

With one blow of a giant horn, an ice dragon comes out and turns his island into ice and snow. DK and his friends

Sounds like KY weather. now have to save the island and stop this tropical freeze. Like most Nintendo games, this story is short and to the point. However, it’s the gameplay that really pulls you in.

I’m giving this warning upfront: this game is extremely hard! I haven’t

island to stop the giant walrus. This can be a two player game so if you and your friend want to play, you can. If not, you can still get help from Dixie, Diddy and Cranky Kong through barrels in each level. Each has different ability, such as using a cane as a pogo stick or flying.

The levels are well balanced, and if you messed up, it’s usually your fault. It’s super fun to play this game, but also frustrating. At least it’s pretty to look at.

Graphically, this game looks amazing. Being on the Wii U, the colors just pop out and everything looks great.

DK’s fur is flowing and life–like and the levels are beautiful. Each level has some new ways to make the game look even better. I just love all the color this game brings.

I love and hate this game at the same time. I love to play it, but if I play it for too long, I might just break something. Sometimes the two player mode can be tricky to work with. I’ve had times where I’m playing with my friend and one of us had to die for us to beat the level.

Overall, I recommend this game.

Some of us here at Georgetown were only able to afford the expenses because of our outstanding score on the ACT. While I love Georgetown, the ACT composite score is not what should make or break our college decision. The United States needs to take a closer look at standardized testing, and assess students in a way that doesn’t constitute just filling in A, B, C or D. We’ve all heard arguments about state and nation–wide testing, but I want to look at this through a couple new lenses. First, let’s take the perspective of a university. The ACT, or anything used to help prepare for the test, absolutely has no correlation to success in college.

Students ask themselves one thing when taking the ACT: “Am I going to have enough time to answer all of the questions?” Time limits do not, in any way, help a student succeed in college. From personal experience, skimming and speed-reading passages is highly frowned upon. Taking shortcuts to come to the solution of a math problem will only cause you problems, because in the future, you’ll need to know how to complete all of the steps. Staring at a chart or graph that gives finite details of irrelvant scientific studies has no bearing on what you’re going to use in college or a career.

Secondly, and maybe even

more importantly, let’s look at this from a human perspective. By human I mean things that every single person experiences.

Some of the most important lessons learned throughout high school are not learned in a classroom. You can’t learn the value of friendship from reading a textbook. You can’t learn self–motivation from a power-

Bubbles on a sheet shouldn’t determine someone’s worth. point presentation. You can’t foster creativity by making educated guesses on a midterm exam. These are the most important things students will ever learn, but they will never be learned by preparing for yearly standardized tests.

Many people are in favor of standardized testing. They argue that it’s the only way that all students can be assessed the same way. Assessing all students the same way is the very problem with the education system. I am a huge supporter of equality and non–discrimination. However, when it comes to education, we must understand that every single student is different. Some learn faster than others. Some learn

differently than others. With standardized testing, there is absolutely no way to fairly and accuractely measure student achievement and then collectivevly group all students together, because students are not a collection; students are individuals—unique and interesting individuals that have more important things to worry about than how to finish sixty math problems in sixty minutes.

There is a real problem in education today. Teachers and students are worried more about passing a test than they are learning content. I would venture to say that the majority of students here go into some classes (not all) to memorize some facts that they will regurgitate on an exam, only to forget the material two weeks later. The system fails when teachers are more concerned with their students passing a class than they are their students fostering creativity and excelling in their education.

The system fails when students are more concerned with a passing grade than they are an education. The system fails when schools work towards a one–time test that will be forgotten instead of working towards knowledge that will last a lifetime.

So as a society, how do we remedy this? How do we prepare and evaluate students on things that matter? The education system needs to allow students to prove themselves and their capabilities, not let one ineffective test determine the outcome of a student’s future.

The Star Wars are coming for us all

As I am sure you have heard, Star Wars is back this coming December, and perhaps better than ever. Lucasfilm Ltd., now owned by the Walt Disney Company, announced the new trilogy in 2012. While it is sure to be a bit of a change from the beloved original and second trilogies, there are certainly reasons to be excited about the upcoming film. I’d like to highlight three that I am excited about.

I’m excited to see what Disney does with the movie and how modern production techniques and advances make the movie different than the previous six. Get excited, folks, and as always, may the force be with you.

The reason why I believe in marriage between a man and a woman is because I believe God uses marriage to model the relationship He desires with the church. He wants to be first in our lives, like how we should put our spouses first, but on a much larger scale.

Even though I believe marriage should be between a man

and a woman, my beliefs run far deeper than that. Yes, I hold God’s idea of marriage close to my heart, but this doesn’t mean I will love you as a person any less because you don’t hold the same values. I will do my best to respect your opinion. When and if we disagree, I won’t take a Bible and hit you upside the head with it in an attempt to ‘convert’ you. That doesn’t show love, which is what Jesus calls me to do above all else.

John 3:16 shares the degree of love He has for the world, and it is that amount of love He calls me to have for others.

A response to traditional marriage

This is a response to William Thomas’ article from Issue 5.

By RACHEL CHEATHAM Staff Writer I am writing as an individual, since the Christian church is divided on the issue of marriage. I will start by agreeing with Mr. Thomas’ point on the general application of the term “biblical.” Anything in the Bible is technically biblical.

Because I’ve acknowledged this, please understand, I don’t believe in stoning people any more than I believe a man

should have more than one wife. Solomon, the king with a thousand women, was in the Old Testament. Men grabbing women and forcing them to become their wives was in the Old Testament. Don’t get me wrong; the Old Testament is highly important.

However, Jesus was sent to earth to die on the cross and rise from the dead on the third day so the laws, and ways, of the Old Testament would be put to rest.

So, what does all of that have to do with marriage?

I believe God meant for

marriage to be between one man and one woman. This is my belief, but I do not expect non–Christians to uphold the same standard. It wouldn’t be fair, and I understand that. I am not trying to impose my beliefs on you; I am explaining the reasoning behind my beliefs.

Let me assure you, I absolutely do not hate people who identify as homosexual. Jesus says “I give you a new commandment: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must love one another” (John 13:34).

If I had a dollar for every time I heard this disheartened phrase escape the lips of my friends and acquaintences, I might spend less time wondering why I pay $2185 for a meal plan that I hate and more time spending money to eat somewhere that is not on Georgetown’s campus.

One of the biggest differences that has been felt on Georgetown’s campus this year has been the changes in meal options that students have available to them. This year, all undergraduate students, with the exception of those who live on East Campus, have been given the Carte Blanche meal plan with unlimited meal swipes and 65 Tiger Dollars. This mandatory meal plan on the surface appears to be great for us, but when you dig a bit more you will find that it is not all Tortellini Thursdays and Ms. Joe’s omelettes.

Last school year, residential students were presented with this wonderful concept called choice. With the exception of freshmen, students could choose a meal plan that included 19– meal plan with $65 Tiger Dollars and cash equivolency in the Mulberry Cafe and the Grill, a 15–meal plan with $400 Tiger Dollars, or a 15–meal plan with $75 and cash equivalency.

These options allowed for students to select a meal plan that actually catered to their wants and needs.

To any new students who were not granted the privilege of enjoying such luxuries, I deeply apologize. I do this because you will get no such courtesy from the corporate heads that decide

when, where and what we eat on a daily basis.

To be certain, this column is, by no means, an assault on the fine men and women who work in the Caf. They work long hours with limited resources, put up with hundreds of college students who can be impatient or rude, and still do their best to provide us with food to make it through the long semester.

I have had many great conversations with many of Sodexo employees and have developed bonds with those with whom I regularly come in contact.

They have no power over what is on the menu each day, nor over the resources with which they have to work.

That being said, I believe that it is not too much to assume that the student body has a collective bone to pick with the French food distribution company.

One of the biggest hits felt regarding Sodexo’s decision–making process has been the sharp reductions in alternative on–campus eating options.

The changes made to the Grille are actually laughable. Last year, students enjoyed food such as chicken quesadillas, turkey burgers, salads and more in the large area on the basement floor of the Student Center. Students would flock to the Grille in order to enjoy each other’s company on comfy couches while enjoying food that was not presented as an option upstairs in the Caf. We were assured that the Grille moving upstairs would be great for us. They would put televisions and couches upstairs in the Caf and make it a late night meal swipe. When I heard this at the end of last semester, little freshman me thought, “Gee Sodexo,

I’m so glad that you care about me enough to make this decision.” (Just kidding). What we were not told is that instead of great alternative late–night food options, we would be allowed to eat cheeseburgers and chicken tenders.

Freshman 15 (let’s be honest, freshman 40) here we come!

I could perhaps tolerate this and dismiss it as an inconvenience were it not paired with the travesty that has befallen the Mulberry Cafe.

Last year, lines of eager students extended out the door and around the corner trying to run into the Mulberry and grab a white chocolate mocha before classes. It provided a warm and welcoming environment for friends to come spend time together in from the cold and for students to put some headphones in and buckle down for hours in anticipation of a mid-term exam.

You could even stay until 9 p.m. during the week, and it was open on Sundays!

But this is no more.

There are no more swarms of people eager to spend their Monopoly money (Tiger Dollars) on delicious sandwiches, soups and beverages.

There are seldom groups of more than five congregated at a table. And the Mulberry sadly closes its doors at 4 p.m. every day and remains closed on the weekends.

This hits me particularly hard.

Anyone who knows me personally also knows that coffee is the oil that keeps my engine running. Last year I easily spent more hours in the Mulberry than I did in my actual classes. Was this healthy? Probably not. Was this “normal?” The answer is assuredly no.

But it didn’t have to be. It was a part of the identity of Georgetown, and shame

on some corporation for taking that away.

Now while those may seem trivial, the situation in the Caf is another story entirely. This affects everyone on this campus, or at least the vast majority of the student body.

Let’s be honest; the selection this semester has been poor to say the least. For example, as I am writing this column, one of my colleagues just entered the room with a to–go box from the Caf with a soft pretzel inside. That’s it.

Really, Sodexo? A soft pretzel with cheese is what constitutes a meal nowadays? Or is it a scoop of mashed potatoes with three chicken nuggets? It really is hard to keep track these days.

It is a personal favorite of mine to walk into the Caf and be given the choice of pasta, pasta or pasta to eat.

God knows that we don’t get enough carbohydrates in our diet here.

Everyone knows that it is completely normal to have hot dogs and nachos three times a week. Plastic vegetables are always great for the salad bar too.

It shouldn’t seem ordinary to see an entire table of people eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch for dinner.

This is starting to turn into a rant, for which I apologize. I just find it hard to believe that I am honestly wishing I could travel back in time 12 months to the way the Caf was last year.

But I also don’t care. This college is bleeding my parents and me dry. If I’m going to be thousands of dollars in debt when I get done with my time here, forgive me for asking to be thrown a bone in the Caf. Just maybe not in the middle of a piece of meat.
