Housing Assignments:  The time is coming to sign up for housing for that 2013/14 academic year. Start thinking about roommates now! The sign-up schedule and steps are listed below. Announcements: 2nd Annual Georgetown College Women’s Retreat:  Attention Georgetown ladies—are you exhausted? Need a break even though you just had spring break? Join us for the 2nd Annual Georgetown College Women’s Retreat. We’ll be experiencing 24 Hours of Rest from Friday, April 5th and Saturday, April 6th, 2013 from 4 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday at Crossroads Christian Church in Lexington. The cost is only $10 and includes all meals! Selection is based on financial need, academic standing (3.0 required), and contact information for the applicant’s minister and a college professor or official to use for references. Women planning a career in the health professions will be given priority for the Wilma Reed Scholarship. This program helps feeds lower income students on the weekends. We are needing non-perishable items for breakfast, lunch, and dinners. We are also doing a clothing drive with a huge range of clothes needed. All help is greatly appreciated. There are boxes located in The Grille, The LRC, Knight Hall, Anderson Hall and Asher.

Reminders: NEXUS Committee:  “All students must complete 48 Nexus credits during their 4 years at Georgetown, or 6 credits per semester. Eight of those credits need to be Tiger events. If you are a senior and you have not completed this requirement, there are numerous opportunities each week to do so. Don’t let the lack of Nexus credits keep you from graduating from Georgetown College.” It’s Never Too Late to Request a Tutor:  You can request a tutor on the portal or by visiting Faith in Academic Enhancement (3rd floor of the student center): https://my.georgetowncollege.edu/ICS/Departments/Academic_Enhanc ement/Tutor_Request_Form.jnz  Login to the portal first and then select the tutor you wish to work with and request a time that works best for you ALL ONLINE!  Group tutoring for Math, Science, Physics and Accounting will begin THIS week! Look for fliers and announcements in your classes for those days and times. Writing Center:  Writing Center to open Sunday, Feb. 3—Do you need tutorial help with writing assignments and/or grammar or writing skills? Drop in or schedule an appointment at the Writing Center (LRC 016—in the basement). Call 502-863-8423 for an appointment or speak with a tutor beginning Feb. 3 during hours of operation. Open early evening Sunday through Thursday nights from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.; late night hours from 9 p.m. –11 p.m. on Weds, Thurs, and Sun.; afternoon hours Mon through Thurs from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.; and morning hours on Tues and Thurs from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.. Running Club:  Georgetown College is starting a running club and will be training for a 5K and a half marathon. This is for beginning runners as well as advanced.  5K: Group runs on Monday's and Wednesday's at 4 p.m. and Saturday's at 9 a.m.. Student Wellness Exercise Programs (Spring 2013): Boot Camp:  Build endurance and make you sweat. This class will keep your heart rate going for 60 minutes straight. Working on your aerobic endurance and burning calories to the max.  Mondays 3:30 p.m. & Wednesdays 5:30 p.m. REC – Court 1 Yoga:  Tuesdays & Thursdays 12:00 p.m. REC – Bisese Lounge Zumba:  Zumba is a dynamic, exciting fitness routine featuring aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms and easy to follow dance steps that tone and sculpt the body.  Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:30 pm REC – Court 1 Body Sculpt:  Kick, punch and jab your way to fitness. This cardiovascular training class is a great way to tone up! Resistance equipment will be used.  Tuesdays & Thursdays 5:30 p.m. REC – Court 1 Salsa:  Come learn the basics of Latin dance, featuring Salsa and Meringue. We'll cover the basic steps, turns and styles, dancing with partners, and by the end of the semester you'll be ready to have fun at any Latin dance party!"  Wednesdays 6:00 p.m. REC – Court 1 Swim at the Scott County Pavilion:  $5 for GC Students Only Getting Started with a Personal Trainer:  Need help getting started with a workout program? Then this is for you!
